Craig:
"You lost me at the ‘modern graphics’ part. The original trailers of Forza 2 looked fantastic and I was seriously thinking about switching over. Then as we got closer and closer to release date the graphics got worse and worse until finally it looked only slightly more detailed than GT-4 and more cartoonish in it’s rendering.

Also you have to keep in mind that this is not an issue of ‘if they could write the algorithm’. They are deliberately choosing to let some contact go. How many people here have tried this in real life and know for sure that you can’t really do this? I’ve watched enough touring car races where the driver shaves a wall or a barrier and they don’t exactly hit the handbrake, stop and get out! Point is that you can’t absolutely rule out that PD are modelling this correctly. And sure you wouldn’t do this in real life because you’d bugger up your paintwork but I be pretty certain that most professional racing drivers don’t give a rat’s ar*e about the condition of their paint if they trying to win."

slightly more detailed than GT4? have you seen the gameplay of forza 2?
in total detail, it outstrips GT5, which has bland graphics, and horrific horizontal tearing with nasty lighting pop-in.
forza 2 on the other hand looks like this all the time: http://e3iuca.bay.livefilestore.com/y1pbpYYUGW25fGxT0w5VD6AvSuBRYpyE8_xwkL1cJbGIouyd23egcLnMl5zFlCGjJyWV5eXGYHpyb59QIUjZOhYCw/1490555491_6c0fd2c458_o.jpg

and the damage system is extremely good at preventing wall riding.
sure, sometimes you can get away with tapping the wall, but try wall riding like these cheaters did in GT5 while driving a real car.

even the wall scraping system in GT5 is messed up, as it allows for almost all of the momentum to carry through with no side-affects.

stop making these excuses for ythese cheaters. they were told to race cleanly, and didnt. and because of the terrible systems used by GT5, they were allowed to get away with it.

"No /dev/null and the other dirtbags posting here like you. why not date rape the girl right? she is sleeping, she is drunk right? why not beat the child no one is around right? This is exactly the kind of people YOU are even though you deny it."

lol @ comparing people who "cheat" in a videogame to rapists and child abusers, grow the hell up. It's not even cheating anyway it's just bad sportsmanship, way to carry on like a bunch of sooks over it though.

P.S I don't wall-ride, I don't even have GT5 P.

In COD you can in some maps find places where you can fall out-of-bounds. You can get stuck under the floor and shoot through it but other players can't see you let alone shoot through the floor back at you.

It is possible to do in the game and people can choose to do this.

Never the less, you will be banned from any respectable server for doing this as it is cheating. Unlike martyrdom it is not something the player was designed to do. It unbalances the game and is unfair.

It is cheating. Just like wall riding.

Now if there was one car in GT5p that was faster than all the rest by design and players had to choose that car or they would never be able to keep up, then choosing that car, like martyrdom, wouldn't be considered cheating because the advantage would be intentional on the part of the developers.

Hey, guess what....

There's already a racing game that has damage modeling, realistic physics and modern graphics. It's called Forza 2. Oh yea, there is no wall riding like GT3 through 5. You'd think with all those processor cores, they could get someone to write an algorithm for "if (rubbing against the wall){go::slower};" Pathetic..

In GT-Academy qualifiers there was no any problem them to delete all cheaters away, after someone found dirty-replay and send e-mail about it. I cant understand why that same method cant work in this competition too. GT-Academy was also running in many countries at same time, so there was very much more work to do, than in this competition.

I'll skip right past the debate of whether this behaviour is cheating or not and get to another question: what are the tournament organizer supposed to do about it? If the game doesn't have a built-in way of detecting the wall-riding and punish the offenders, what could they possibly to about it, short of having race marshals scrutinizing every moment of every race and manually banning offenders, like they would in real life races?

Seems to me that the only practical way of fixing the problem is fixing the game, and that doesn't seem to be happening any time soon...

Doesn't make the behaviour ok, but can anything really be done about it?

No /dev/null and the other dirtbags posting here like you. why not date rape the girl right? she is sleeping, she is drunk right? why not beat the child no one is around right? This is exactly the kind of people YOU are even though you deny it. just because you can do something doesn't mean you should do something.

The Rules were stated clearly this is no different then getting an account banned for exploiting an online game. You all understand the guidelines and intent of the game and when you intentionally violate it to win you are a SCUMBAG.

Its that simple and its the truth.

If it is allowed within the game's shoddy physics engine, then why not take advantage of it, especially if thousands of dollars in prizes are up for grabs? It's funny that they blame the people riding along the side of the walls instead of sony for not making a solid engine in the first place, way to point the finger in the absolute wrong direction.
