Completed all the tracks w/ the 69 Vette. Circuito de Madrid/Reverse required the most tweaking to beat the 69 Camaro. The first time I tried this tweak I can in 1st and beat the 2nd place guy by over 9 secs. Here are the specifics if you want to give it a try…

    Engine: ECU tuning
    power limiter to 86.9%
    Both intake upgrades
    All 3 exhaust upgrades
    Supercharger
Tranny: top speed: 152 top window & 149 bottom window; changed 3rd and 5th gears to 1.880 & 1.050 respectively
    Drivetrain w/ all best upgrades LSD: 10, 40 & 10
    Suspension middle upgrade to height-adjustable sports kit. Front tires: -5, 6.8, 2 & 1. Rear tires: 3, 5.1, 2 & 1. Camber 0 for both.
    Tires: med sports (of course).

What’s the lowest :P anyone has been able to win with on these? I did Daytona a bunch of times last night with a 410PP Superbird that was good for 949,500cr…

    1. TBird73

I did a bunch the day before yesterday with 430pp (Corvette Convertible (C3) ’69) ± 750.000cr, tried to do a couple yesterday and couldn’t keep up with #1 !@!$#%.
I’m gonna try the Superbird tonight.
Do you have special settings for the car or is it stock?

    1. smskeeter23

Try exiting and going back a few times to re-swizzle the field.

At one point I had a group where a ’69 Camaro kept winning by only about 1sec over 2nd place. It’s definitely do-able.

    2. KYD302

Use a 69 Camaro Z28 RM setup at 500pp youl pass the vette easily i passed him on the final turn during lap 3

  3. AERO_HDT

This is good fun. A Chevelle, all standard, but just swapped out the gearbox for a racing item. That changes it from a 4 to a 5-speeder, but if you leave the gears and just adjust the final drive (diff) ratio from a 4.1 to a 3.08 gearset, it almost feels factory. Shame the whine of the cut gears is so pronounced. I wish GT5 had a customisable diff ratio option without the need to go a full custom gearbox.

  4. SonicConqueror

It’s been exactly 15 months since the Super GT seasonal event has opened; it definately needs a re-release, but this time, with a lower PP rating, & the use of a Performance Difference Bonus.

With the Honda weider HSV-010 (SUPER GT) ’11 DLC car being released last month, this will be a greater call for that, & other HSV-010″s to be released, come seasonal event update. This would be a tall order for that to happen.

  5. BFBulletMagnet

I have noticed that there is a cycle of about 5 races that the drivers have different behavior. I seen it on Daytona. There is a black vette that gets stuck behind the last place cars in one scenario. And in another he hardly leaves the front of the pack. Then in the rest he seems to be like the wind an almost unbeatable. While trying to get a win at 405pp I learned if he gets a huge lead and is gone after the race leave the online seasonal screen and the go back in and try again until you find the lead rabbits slowest total time. At that point I just fine tune lowering my 000pp but do not back out of the race start screen or you get a new racer again. Might be the same with the other races as well. I had trouble with Madrid a few times but then all of a sudden I went back a crushed it like they were standing still.

  6. moparmanmike

Can’t seem to get gold in any races but the 1st two. Got those 2 easily and can get 2nd easy in the rest with a good lead from 3rd, but still 12 to 15 seconds behind 1st. I have tried with multiple cars and tunes, including the z/28 tune below ( which was great btw) but still not even close to 1st. Tried the cobra, challenger, cuda, 54 and 69 vettes charger and a few others still no luck. Again easy 2nd with a good gap, but the closest I’ve got go 1st was just under 9 seconds behind on madrid. Any other pointers or reccomened car and tunes?

    1. Pit Crew

Have u raised rear of car and lowered front also lengthen third a lil and short shift through turns like turn 1-2, hold gear on third turn just to the rv limiter, roll turn car inside, upshift and modulate acceleration till tires stop fussin. Same with turn 4. sweep turn 5insdeout modulate acceleration again. Take corkscrew in 2nd to 3rd quick upshift, but slow out in out in transition

  7. smskeeter23

For what its worth here is another…

    Eifel:

    ’69 Z28
    Areo F-a / R-a
    FCT @155
    FCS: -23/-23, 7.8/6, 5/5, 4/3, 2/3, (Cam) .7/.5, (Toe) 0/.2

    Engine Tuning +1,+2,+3 and ECU
    Chassis Reinforcement + CF hood

Ends up as 500PP but I didn’t care I was just trying to get through this one with gold and not too much effort. Beat the lead rabbit by 10+sec.

    1. moparmanmike

I have not, though I will try it tonight when I get on. Thanks for the advice Pit Crew. I will have to say what’s most frustrating is that I’ve been a muscle car guy my whole life. And they are my 1st chouice of car in every race that permits me to use them, when practical. So needless to say when I saw this new seasonal event I could hardly contain myself. I figured This was gonna be easy and its right up my alley. And I can only gold 2 out of 5 races :/

    1. TheEzekiel

well…not 95% but he is right that for example 18 types of S2000 or nearly 40 types of Nissan Skyline is little too much :D

    2. Djwess

Turns out about the Nissan complaining of too many GT-R’s, there’s only about 140 Nissan’s (counting NISMO’s) total in the game only making up 3% of the 1000 cars in the came (more than that due to updates). My point is there’s about 10% of the cars in-game that some people don’t care about. The game is only boring if you worry about the little things (not enough cars, not a lot of customization, not like Forza 4, car engine doesn’t sound right, not enough tracks, not enough DLC, etc.) STOP COMPLAINING OVER PETTY THINGS. Instead go out on the forums to find some racing leagues/clubs, drift teams, drag teams, or something. That’s what spark my interest in the game (plus the update having the cars handle differently overall. Time for some re-tunes).

  8. Lambob

used my long nosed ’69 vette, only height suspension mod, and throttle control, for all these wins.

Satisfactory to pilot these cars, but AI needs more muscle

    1. mr_pepps

      Cheez with that whine! Ha!
      A quality comment from Pitcrew.

In other news I left GT alone tonight and instead got stuck into a 2004 Bordeux and a 2001 Rioja. Blummin good wine – GT came up in conversation and strangely, for this forum, comments floated about how much fun the game is.

      Tomorrow is race night.
I’m looking forward to it too – thank gawd we’ve got Kaz and the team to dish out these seasonals. This Yank Spank rocks!

  9. Magic Ayrton

Yawn… let me know when someone has reviewed GT6 and everyone is still complaining about crap sounds and rubbish career mode.

  10. Both Barrels

It’s laughable that PD hasn’t fixed the ” 4.11, 4 speed” ( there or thereabouts) for AI muscle cars! Imagine seeing a cluster of them going down the straightaway at Daytona going NINGNINGNING bouncing off the rev limiter…WTF

    1. Both Barrels

Yeah we get it, these hunks of junk are only good for drag racing. But at least set the AI cars up for a superspeedway a**holes.

    2. Both Barrels

Sadly, that 3 speed is the only one. Imagine how much fun it would be to actually test the top speed of all of these high output V-8s AT DAYTONA! It’s like a slap in the face to American muscle to not gear them properly. And I’m not even American.

  11. smskeeter23

479PP ’70 Superbird, FC trans at 193, HA suspension @-6/-6, F/R springs add .2 and I lapped the entire feild but one car with 30sec lead on 2nd place.

Good enough for around 500,000 (with 200%)

Gonna detune further and run again.

    1. smskeeter23

      435PP ’70 SB
      HA @-10/-10, 4.2/3.7, 2/2, .02/0
      FC @174
      Power limiter to 70.2%(297hp)

      779,200cr by 7sec over 2nd.

433PP wasn’t enough to catch the field that you need to draft past the rabbit in lap 5.

    2. smskeeter23

      That was my thought…

Might not be the best but its a five minute cash cow for me now maybe it’ll work for someone else too ;-)

  12. Brunskill777

1: Since when was 1962 (Buick Special (Friend!)) and 1970 (Grand Touring Garage Mustang) AFTER 1980?????! I’m sure GT know of the Buick’s problem, it’s made in 1962, but isn’t allowed in 80’s or earlier. WHY HAS THIS NEVER BEEN FIXED?
2: Why have muscle cars got such CRAP top speeds. Most only go about 120mph.
3: Onto the seasonal. After trying Daytona in 2 different cars that immediately failed me due to their top speed, I tried in my tuned ’69 Corvette. I got into 2nd on the first lap and was 9 secs behind first. But as the next laps went on, I got further behind and ended up 13 secs down. On the map, the leader was a rocket ship, bombing past the backmarkers. When I looked it was the ’63 Corvette. Well, I’ll use one then. But any of mine had about 100 bhp less than the one stated in typical opponents. Then I saw my 550pp Z06 race car from ’63 and reduced it’s aeros and a tiny bit of engine limitation. I wouldn’t have seen it to start with if it wasn’t already limited. When using this I won the races, not easily at times but it was fun.

I also salute those who predicted this seasonal was to come. You must be psychic (or maybe you just know the pattern!)

    1. Pit Crew

Its possible to almost lap entire field on Daytona event. Just buy FC tranny and use the right car. Cuda, Cougar, have awesome torque even untuned. Gotta force the Cuda to fifth (no redline in 4th) but then it accelerates like a bat outta shell, pulling you along up to a good 165 (479 PP).

Power and torque are the key to Daytona, so stay away from camaros, vettes, and stangs, chargers and challengers.

    2. ron86

The buick and the grand touring mustang are both custom made cars, made way after the 80s!

The top speed of the muscle cars isnt higher in real life too! As i know there has been many different gearing ratios for muscle cars, some reached more than 230 kmh, others less than 200 kmh – so its realistic!

    3. PIGBOY

my shelby mustang at 450pp gets me the win easily, cant go any lower though,i think it had around 260HP detuned at 100-1100kg’s.
my trick around daytona is camber at 3.0 both back and front, lift car so it does’nt bottom out.can hold 150mph round the bends too

    4. Pit Crew

^ At 500PP you got what classic muscle car to hit 235 mph on Daytona? Mind you, Fully tuned, the fastest classic Muscle car No Race Mod is a Cuda which runs a 42 second lap there top speed 219.

Race Mod The Shelby Cobra 427 S/C 39 second lap at 225 so unless your embelishing the truth or didnt do the Seasonal, I dont buy that 235 top speed.

My Zeus (Z06) Vette will do 240 plus there fully tuned, and its not even broke in yet, plus its not a muscle car, or a classic.

  13. BWX

And in 2 weeks there will be classic muscle cars in OCD, right when the new seasonals come out. It doesn’t affect me, I have all cars already with a 1440 car garage. It’s just another WTFPD move. You see the s800 Hondas in the new OCD? Detecting a pattern?

    1. Teflonicus

If it doesn’t affect you, why are you complaining about it?

I have the cars already too, and as far as I’m concerned, if other people couldn’t get around to buying the car after all this time, bad luck!

    1. chevy_freak

Since when is this a muscle car? Its a full blown factory race car and shouldn’t be allowed in…. Now try it with a muscle car and see if you can do it…

    2. Pit Crew

The Superbird is nowhere close to being a race car. Its still not faster then the cuda or cougar. Street models and track models were totally different.

    3. The Geek

      smsketter23,
That was the first thing I did when I obtained my ‘Bird! I wanted to reproduce the occasion when it became the first car to break the 200MPH barrier at Daytona. The only thing I swapped out was the stock tranny for the FC. I few gear adjustments later, and that bird FLEW! That car will not win any beauty contests, but by god its fast! I am with you on this one: The Superbird belongs on Daytona.

  14. infamousphil

Wow… I thought the online dealership would correspond to new seasonal events? I was mistaken. PD needs to realize how much trouble it is to have so many whips in the garage while competing online, like the time it takes to scroll and search. So it has become nonfeasable to have an 800 plus garage. And I have a pretty good internet connection?

  15. PIGBOY

last few daytona races 1st AI car has got caught behind a lapped car, when i had no chance of catching 1st,FTW!!
    shelby GT350R ’65 @450PP

    1. Pit Crew

Use a Cuda, or a XR7 Cougar. Buy FC trans and take bottom TopSpeed pointer to the right. Those 2 cars are the best on daytona, Unless you can tune Shelby Cobra.

    2. Escort mk1 yum

Hate the way gt5 calls it a shelby cobra, I’m 99.9% sure it’s an AC cobra, another thing the yanks have pinched of us and claimed there own.

    3. Pit Crew

Well shelby and bristol reached a deal that gave shelby the rights to the car so dont blame us blame Bristol.

Shelby put the first 427 CI engine in the Cobra.

    4. SmileyOr1

Shelby modified the AC ACE bodies somewhere along the development stages. Then in the end he was manufacturing the 427 Frames and Bodies based on the looks of the ACE.

The original AC frames were not strong enough for the torque of the 427 motor.

The game has both the Sheby Cobra and the AC Cobra. The AC Cobra 427 or FIA body was Shelby’s design with wider wheel arches and the modified oil cooler intake.

Bristol made the motors for the original AC ACE. My father had the opportunity to drive an AC Bristol in the early 60’s when he was the chief driving instructor for Team Continental. He y=told me it was capable of 140 mph, that’s only 10 mph shy of the 289 engined Cobra.

  16. SonicConqueror

The last time we had the Classic Muscle Car seasonal event was last year. 21/4/11, the day after PSN went offline due to personal info being hacked into; very, very, very, very bad way of putting it straight.

    1. SonicConqueror

      But who knows?

The one track that was retained for the event’s return is the Daytona Superspeedway.

The rival car for the Daytona Superspeedway is the Chevrolet Corvette Coupe (C2) ’63, due to it’s excellent top speed (despite having only 3 gears).

The rival car for every other race is the Chevrolet Corvette Convertible (C3) ’69; due to overall best performance.

    1. SonicConqueror

I don’t think they’ll be doing that anytime soon. Besides, theres already a ton of A-Spec/B-Spec challenges there.

  17. berettagt88

Thanks PD this will ROCK I have a ’69 Z28 and other muscle cars for this!!!!! I hope one day a new Muscle car SEASONAL ’10 Camaro SS,’08 Challenger SRT8,’07 Mustang GT not sure if Corvette’s and Viper’s would be in it. I’m so excited for this :) MUSCLE CARS RULE!!!!!!

  18. Hossmcgillicutt

    Wrong prize car!
This would have been the best opportunity for a CLASSIC MUSCLE CAR TICKET! Not the race ready camaro that everyone has 4 colors in already. Boo hoo . Thanks

    1. Pit Crew

Agreed. What incentive is there for me to gold all the events, to receive a prize I can buy an mod myself. Glad I got both those tickets (Modern Muscle Car) but PD could have made that one available, as it directly ties to the event and some nice collectable cars on there.

Cuda 440 SixPack with 0/0/0 was a much sought after car for Daytona Rooms online, and will make the Daytona event very easy, Chase the Rabbit or not.

    1. Tvensky

considering major countries that still manufacturers cars are not so many, chance getting USA muscle cars, knowing they have huge historical value.. chance getting them isnt big…. ;)

  19. SonicConqueror

The Eifel Circuit 110A used in this seasonal event is exactly the same one used in the Stars & Stripes seasonal event.

    1. MeanElf

The courses created by PD (some by Kanunori) are all recycled at some point during the seasonals…have you been asleep?

  20. HarVee

Kind of funny how this event is for classic American muscle cars, yet the OCD only has classic Japanese sports cars. You’d think that PD would put classic American muscle cars in the OCD instead. Failed Polyphony Digital logic I guess.

    1. MaxTorque

I think the OCD updates like this:

The OCD updates every second week, right? This time we got Japanese cars in the OCD.
I think that next week there will be Time Trials and Drift Trials and the featured cars are Japanese.
Then the week after that there will be a new update with some other cars.

I don’t know if it is like this but that’s how i think it works..

    2. Pit Crew

You could be on to something, but considering the cars in the OCD now, with that logic, the next seasonal is Japanese Classics…again.

  21. mr_pepps

Excellent seasonal – race after race grinning like an axe murderer as I try and gently ease these fabulous but tricky US muscle car beauties around each circuit.
Personally, I’ll be taking my ‘Dukes’ full blown orange Charger out. It’s 25 metres long, handles like a canal boat but it sounds sweet and looks the bollocks in every replay.
(I have another one in all-black too for when I want to get all 60s movies car-chase gangster.)

  22. m8h3r

Ah yes. Love classic muscle cars. Also what a great event to learn how to go without ABS seeing as most these cars probably didn’t have it.

  23. hobanator24

I have an idea. PD should release at least 1 car that is compatible with the upcoming seasonal event in dlc. But not for the time or drift trials. Such as, since this week is a classic muscle car event, they could release a classic muscle car like a ’67 Mustang or ’66 GTO in the dlc. It get’s boring using the same cars for seasonals. Just 1 car every two weeks. Thats all I ask.

    1. MeanElf

There are always multiple cars to use in the seasonals – especially now the the performance difference bonus is in place. So you don’t need to use the same two cars. The OCD does also carry cars on a regular basis likely to feature in upcoming seasonals, so in a way they’re already doing what you ask.

    2. Pit Crew

PD make a classic muscle car DLC? For GT5? Seasonals tie in with the DLC? Aint gonna happen. PDs recent moves give no clue they would ever do that.

GT5 is to far gone to get that type of love from Kaz and the Dev team, though its sales would probably be off the hinges.

  24. BFBulletMagnet

Instead of complaining about Japanese cars or complaining about muscle cars or complaining about forza being better or not. How about posting something like what car your gonna use for the new event they set up. Or maybe post a tune for a muscle car you already made that would fit this event. It’s only a game it’s up to YOU as the community to make it fun!

    1. SavageEvil

I was wondering the same thing as the majority, well actually all American Muscle from 80 and prior are exactly as you call Japanese K cars, straight line and nothing else, 4 gear high torque and little control, awesome. PD needs to do a mix race, Subaru vs Evolution, Mustang vs Camaro, Corvette vs Viper, big boy toys like DB9, M5, RS6, etc… PD needs someone over there with a bit more of an eye for car rivalries. Just because you don’t like racing in those cars doesn’t make them crap, they are purpose built to be economic. Now Muscle cars were built to perform, but sadly they only perform in going straight lines and nowhere else, I like driving and trying to tune them to turn with some balance, fun but hey to each his own.

    2. SonicConqueror

About car rivalries, theres one that need Immense attention: Subaru Impreza vs Mitsubishi Lancer.
To earn the Arch-Rivals trophy, you must achieve a 1-2 finish in a Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution X P.P. ’07, & either the Subaru Impreza WRX STI ’07 or the Subaru Impreza Sedan WRX STI ’10.
Another car rivalry that I think should be fun: Plymouth Cuda 440 Six Pack ’71 vs Pontiac Tempest Le Mans GTO ’64.
