I reeeallly have begun to hate these seasonal events. With: Srf being stuck on, the rewards never change, the competition is waaaaay too hard, the races are no fun i.e. starting 35 seconds behind and having to make that up in 4 laps. The cars you pass are so slow that you cant help hitting them when youre going 25mph faster than them through the corner and theyre stuck blocking the road. That isnt real racing thats a time trial with pos slow cars in your way. I was using the motor Elise RC for the hot hatch event and actually lost repeatedly with making no mistakes! Going agaisnt a mini! A mini! A race car vs a mini and i lose?! It shouldnt even be allowed..!? Its the same with other events too. The only way to win is either be a pro at tuning or cut corners or find an over powered car. The point of PP’s is to make them all equal.

    1. candrews50

I always find a car more powerful then use the engine thing to put pp right at mark. Each race you gradually have go down more cause you win.

  2. candrews50

I don’t understand the hate on the skid recovery. I do think it does correct spinning a little it seems to help me with the pushing a X button old man. I can’t use the joystick other then to steer. Last time I played any playstation until January was in 1999. I don’t have steering wheel or better REALISTIC petals that make not stomping gas possible. Without the skid thing every time I hit button it registers as stomping petal when in real life you wouldn’t. I would love for GT6 to have a option just for the old timers that need to push button. I think all the other help is totally unnecessary. Further most of these events were easy and able to beat first time except that kart track it gives some problems. I always make car better and scale the engine down in PP makes your car accelerate better enabling easy win. I usaully on the 5 laps beat them by 3rd lap. I used a brand new Renault out of dealer. I still mange to not spin out without the skid but it certainly makes it better to drove many different cars not just ones you mastered.

  3. Logoncal21

I always think that SRF is a joke. but when i’m short on cash, i do one of those
i found a VW nardo on UCD then decided to go SE because i had no money for it then…
THE VW NARD IS GONE! NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!
    OVERLY DRAMATIC!!!

  4. DynamikGT

My S60 managed top 5 in all of
Them (won the first one.) when it came to those rabbit Peugeots and Minis tho my Polestar was Poleaxed :/ the other thing that annoyed me was the number of laps. Only 4 at Madrid and Nurburg, and 3 at TGTT (not the usual 5 these rabbit hunts are.) most frustrating thing was that at the rate I was catching the leader I only needed one more lap and I’d have had them.

  5. DynamikGT

I’m giving it a shot with a Volvo S60 I had. Figured I’d try something a little left field seeing as I only do these seasonals for the fun of it. Built myself my own Polestar, curious to see how it goes

  6. infamousphil

Yup another ‘lost in the translation’ example from PD. Does any of these guys speak any English? Laughable 15 years ago, nowadays, it just seems to be ignored. No matter, I dont like FFs and hatchbacks even more. so I ran through the series with a ’00 Opal Speedster in about an hour. It was fun too. Thanks for the 2.5mil credits PD.

  7. Dogga23

I challenge anyone to say that have passed all 5 races in this event…
All the cars even when maxed out are all the same anyway.
Can get within 3 seconds on mini ring.
Can’t get anywhere near on Madrid or kart track
The other two I managed to win only by racing dirty and utilising cutting corners

  8. karelpipa

my 406 COUPÉ can compete!! Its a shame. SRF and no championship again. And not only hatches can race it.

  9. JeremiahTB

SRF isn’t going away. It’d be nice if we knew why, because then that would at least cut down on a percentage of the complaints; but it looks like it is here to stay without an explanation. So I just take it in stride and deal with it.

  10. Rionmoon

…so…a Lotus Esprit Turbo HC is considered a “hatchback?” Help me out here Euro members but here in the States and Esprit isn’t quite a hatchback unless you want to put your groceries on top of the engine exhaust.

    1. Feldynn

That’s one of those annoying little problems that’s been carried through most all GT games, production cars don’t tend to have any proper classifications for body types like hatchback, coupe, sedan / saloon, estate / stationwagon and wotnot. The best they could do restriction wise is limit it to “normal cars” then by country and PP.

When I checked for SRF I noticed a stock Jaguar XKR Couple Luxury in my garage that was detuned a little was available for the race and had to chuckle, probably couldn’t be much further from a “hot hatch” :).

    2. Jared93

Hatchbacks aren’t just civics. The rear end of the Esprit opens up the same way as a 240 hatch…..so yes, its a hatchback. -__-

    3. JeremiahTB

My old Mustang had a hatchback, but it was never called a hatchback. Mustangs used to come in notchback and fastback.

    4. infamousphil

Guess what. PD don’t give a damn about grammar. Never have and they probably never will. Don’t fret it through. You know how nerds can be social misfits.

  11. HuskyGT

This seasonal looks outstanding. But it’s again ruined by putting the fastest car 30 seconds ahead. I wanted to be able to use more options since I love European Hatchbacks, but with that Mini on top, I have no choice but to only use my Mini. Such a shame.

    1. Both Barrels

Try the Peugeot 205 Turbo 16 ’85. It fits right in at TopGear, since it sounds like an Ultralight Aircraft.

  12. Feldynn

Another “Expert level” seasonal event: CHECK
Fictional driving aid “for Beginners” forced on: CHECK

Such a shame, oh well at least there are still other seasonals as yet untouched by the Skid Recovery Farce on the off chance I might need some cash :).

  13. AuToNoMy

I was using peugot 205 GTI on first two tracks till I got to Madrid and got beat by a mini :( and I got penalty on top gear track which took forever to countdown and finished at back of eveyone :(

  14. Dogga23

Rrr seriously. What cars are people using to win.
Even though I am level 40 and maxed out with cash. My obsessive compulsive means I need to win all races.
What cars are people using to win.
    Help a brother out ??

    1. Kenny8375

I used the Lutecia Renault Sport V6 24V ’01. I only purchased transmission, drivetrain parts, and suspension. I also had to use the engine limiter to get to 430 pp, but I had no problems winning with this car.

  15. Madertus

I love to look at people whining about how Seasonals suck either because of SRF or how useless they are :D

  16. ScotteDawg

Meh, this “chase the rabbit” crap gives me the irrits!
Seriously, who need the Cr. anyways?
I really hope GT6 doesn’t go down this path!

Now, some things they should get rid of:-
    a) Chase the rabbit
    b) Log-in bonuses (particularly the museum cards and the win percentage, the paint chips are ok!)
    c) The 20,000,000 cap on Cr. (make it 999,999,999 as in previous GT games)

    1. GTPVenomZombie

      I quote…
      a) I agree
      b) No! just no! 200% increase helps if you are low on cr.
c)Yeah definitely, they shouldn’t even have a credit cap.

    2. ScotteDawg

Ok, so maybe keep the Cr. increase, but only to 150% and we should have an option to accept it (and other bonuses – individually) or not!
For example, I may want to keep the paint chips but see no reason to keep the increase, so I accept the paint but not the increase, or I accept the increase but diss the chips!
The museum cards are a waste of space and should NEVER have been offered! OR, we should have at least been given the option to delete them!!

  17. Kratos_Q8

PD please give us a long and competitive A-spec career mode

    IGN :

    10/10 simulator
    5/10 for a game

thats the review i will wait for before i buy GT6 please PD more focus on offline content

    1. infamousphil

Sad to to say, Kratos. Extensive content is what PD wants it’s die-hard fans to get ONLINE. I don’t expect it to change much from the current, “this is all you get for $60 err $64.99”, take home and play OFFLINE, business model.

    2. HuskyGT

It’s such a shame indeed. I hate playing online, or being forced to. It’s my game and I want to enjoy it alone.

  18. Brunskill777

Top Gear test track will be the only highlight of this, such an under used track (but I understand why with the crossover issues).

  19. Spazzalman

Drove the 1996 Lotus Elise and had a lot of fun in this event. My only problem with it is that you always start at the back of the grid and have to muscle your way through your opponents in a short amount of laps which isn’t very realistic.

    1. Tvensky

seriously…. I want to qualify, then start race from the grid… and I want my opponents to be able to catch me, they need do drive as fast as player…

this far every seasonal race is 100% same.. just with different cars :) I am a huge GT fan.. but this is too much, I cant take it anymore.. last 20 seasonals I didnt even drive.. too booring… online is more fun.. I jump in now and then..
pity but gt5 singe player is dead and empty with same events over and over again.. no realistic feeling for them also.. all AI cars drive the same, they do nothing.. just follow the line.. I must get pass them in 5 laps from last 16 position.. dont want to continue..

just hope GT6 will start the racing.. not just driving..

  20. Hentis

SRF on boo hoo, I’m gonna tell my mummy boo hoo……… Really, cry me a river, build a bridge and get the hell over it.
Looking forward to these seasonals :)

  21. m8h3r

Here’s an idea. Instead of 5 single races why don’t they put them all together in a championship format. That way you do Autumn Ring Mini through to the Season Finale at Eifel. Most points wins? It’s nothing outrageous to implement. Why not just do that?

    1. Quakebass

And at that, what about LONGER races? I’d like to harness the tire wear and pitstop functions… It seems to be a waste of PD’s resources NOT to use these sorts of things…

    2. Tvensky

      agree.. why no pit stops..

If I want to drive I can play NFS or Forza..

but I want simulation.. I want pit stops, qualify, grid start.. everything real racing and GT online have… why single player is so abandoned… I just dont understand..

    3. StiggyGT

      @ NCR
No because that defeats the point of having those features in the game in the first place. We expect PD to utilise them and create things like endurance races, where tyre changes are naturally essential.

    4. Morgoth_666

      @StiggyGT:
I’m sure no one (ok, very few – it’s the internet) would dispute that PD should make better and broader use of the many useful features that the game has in their own events. But how exactly does using those features in a game mode that does allow you to use them as you see fit “defeat the purpose of having those features in the game in the first place?”

Sadly, even in Arcade we still can’t qualify or use a grid start(that’s just in one-makes with park-bots) or take advantage of the advanced tire/fuel/slipstream options that have been added online. It really doesn’t seem like it should be that much of a problem for someone to just sit down in a team meeting and say, “okay, how can we make sure that our customers can have an experience that is most well-tailored to their liking? How about we let them set whatever options we already have available so long as they don’t directly disrupt a particular game mode?”

    1. KYD302

It’s the fact that it’s not realistic an your forced to use it. It should be optional because some people like it but us hardcore GT’ers hate it we want 100% realism not phony aids that take away from the driving experience SRF gives the game an arcade feel its the DRIVING SIMULATOR not an arcade wanna be sim like forza.

  22. TokoTurismo

Racing on TGTT was so much fun, however the penalty system…. This seasonal is quite fun actually, and will be doing more when I have enough time. :)

    1. JohnScoonsBeard

Not when you’re bouncing of the 20 million credit limit. It is only worth doing these races if you need cash. They aren’t enjoyable when you’re used to driving without skid recovery on. It makes it less fun than driving online with 6 others and setting the driver aids as you want them. In fact arcade mode is better than these seasonal once again people have more flexibility to drive how they want. We can even set tyre wear and race length as we want. It’s a shame these seasonal don’t offer that flexibility and variety.
