3 - 23" monitors for $2k+? Can't you just buy three monitors separately for about $600 and do the same thing? My 23" is about 2 years old now and the bezel is about 3/4". I'm sure you could get something off the shelf now with 1/2" or less.

I've done the math on my end and I could get everything I need for triple-screen GT5 goodness for around $600 (2 used PS3's @ $150 each, 2 used 32" tv's for ~$200 each, 2 copies of GT5 @ $40 each). I just don't think I can justify such deliciousness!

But look at it!! The sense of speed is amazing, even on a youtube video! Just so happens that this video starts off with the Alfa cockpit. :)

Those things have like 1/6th inch. Also can be had for under 1900 a set of three at a few places. Click Shop. Imagine with some work a guy could get them for 1600-1800 if buying three sets (9 monitors)

So really it isn't that bad of a deal. Considering they are gonna give you very saemless feel and be simply awesome.

Honestly Johnny, I have considered selling my Evo and just drive the Jeep. I've been about 2.5 years with the car down. My feelings may change when I bring it back out. HP in real world is extremely addicting. So before getting buck wild Sim racing. I may be smart to see where I am with the Evo back on the road. fwiw it was running 12.0's and notta wrong with it when I went for more HP. One of these things I ask myself. How smart was this idea. You now invested obscene money and time, the car is worth the same as it was stock 2yrs ago.

It's more self satisfaction then anything. Something's just cant be justified. Only answer is, I wanted too. :)

Not sure how thick the bezel is, but we've had quite a few of the Dell UltraSharp U2312HM 23-inch LED monitors in work. They're $239 on the USA Dell website. Worth a look as our users love them!

Don't worry about it. I don't think I purposefully give it gas in corners for stability. I might just brake a lil earlier into corners like turn one @Daytona and smooth inputs.

I'm guessing this braking and giving it a bit of gas is just to be able to apply a little less braking force to the rear wheels when they are unloaded, leaving a hair more grip for turning. One can certainly achieve it through other means. Either lower BB magnitude while preserving the bias. That way you can apply less braking force to the rears. Alternatively, shift BB waaay forward before that turn one. Conveniently, there's a long straight just before it and a minor straight right after.

^ Insurance and premium fuel are pretty much a deal breaker on that one. Insurance would be nearly double and fuel would be quite a bit more on top of that.

Oh, I did a quote for an STI hatch and it was just a few bucks per month more than what I currently pay. Didn't try the sedan though, those might be more pricey to insure.

I consider Daytona Road to be one of my better tracks ever since the British Invasion Online event. I'm anxious to drive this Alfa to see how it handles relative to the Jaguar XKR Coupe '10 which we ran on sports soft tires. I know the Jaguar was a complete handful for turn 1 when I first drove it, but by the end of the week it felt very natural. We also ran that event without tuning and I had no problem with lift off oversteer, but the alfa may just be a different animal given how much lighter it is.

I might not be able to step into the Alfa (or even buy it) until January 3rd so I'm not going to have much prep time for the first race at Daytona -- hoping my experience there helps out. Although my snowboarding trip may be cancelled due to 0" snow at the resort to date so I may be back online by Dec 28th instead. Either way I plan a "crash course" in the Alfa that first week.

Yep, I've shifted my wanty-gaze from an STI to a racing kart. Kinda cold to be test driving karts right now though, will have to wait till it gets warmer before I can really start investigating that. Or part of that money could go towards a drool-inducing triple screen GT5 setup, which would definitely get more use but still can't really be justified! :crazy:


There really isn't that much lift-off oversteer, not enough to break the back end loose or anything. It just tends to turn-in pretty quickly, depending on brake balance. It's actually a very well behaved car and I doubt you'll have any problem getting comfortable with it quickly. If my back end ever does get loose I rarely even have to lift, just correct the wheel attitude and it brings itself back around. I've always had trouble with T1 at Daytona Road and I've had very little problem with it in the Alfa. Of course your experience may vary but I don't think you have anything to worry about. :)

I don't think you'll have much to worry about... I think the Alfa is one of the most user-friendly and forgiving cars I've ever driven in GT5. I'm able to be much more competitive right out of the box with the Alfa than I ever was with the Cappuccino, or any other car I've raced with. I'm sure there are a few other guys in this group that feel the same way.

Man all this talk about which 3 screen set up to get, being one of the "new poor" in america, Ill just say, I wish I had your problems. As for a good set up I think the guys in this link have everyone beat, I know its not gt5 but pretty cool none the less.

I'm looking forward to the new kart, Golf R and especially the Scirocco R... Haven't looked into the price, but hopefully I have enough PSN money left over from the last purchase.

I believe it's only 4 bucks. I plan on getting it and should have enough left over from the first batch of DLC. I think the update comes tomorrow but the DLC doesn't come until the day after that.

While I will buy it. Only the kart intrigues me.

I'm really only looking forward to the kart and the Scirocco, but it's only 4 bucks so it's kinda hard not to get it. :dunce:
