My tinkering 30K quarter miles are over. I love it, I really do. But I barely have 15% of the game comleted. Thats right around 15%... I've wasted a lot of days on buying cars and going to the strip. The big 700 day mark is fast approaching (I am on day 290) and I gotta save up 8.4 mil. I might be wierd, but I don't race one race over and over and over just to get money. I get it the hard way.

When I finish the professional races and a few of the endurance races, maybe even get the four black beauties I will return. I saw the 9 second subaru, think cobra427 did it... Grats man, nice run. When I get further along in the game I'll come back and try to break some records, hopefully this thread is still active.

Anyways, was fun. Keep bringing those times down, I want high goals to shoot for. Good luck guys

Thanks, I think if i could get the gearing to stay in the powerband longer i could go a bit quicker still... and i can still soften the rear a little more if i have to....
So hurry up and beat me!

I still want a damn camaro! I have one I picked up earlier on in the game, but obviously i cant use that one...

As for the FF competition the best car looks like the "Mitsubishi Eclipse GT ('95)" owns all.
It's only 8800 cr and it has 226 hp, and a weight of 1329 kg
The next best thing would be the "Honda Prelude Type S ('96)" at 11,000 cr, 216 hp, and 1309 kg.

If my monte carlo was in this game ('95 Monte Carlo Z34)
It would sit at 210 HP with a weight of about 2000 kg. And get owned by these little cars. Why isnt there FF heavyweights?

Even the best car in the FF class is 294 HP, and it costs 750,000 cr.

Well off to bed.

heh if my old buick was in here i would be in heaven .... i traded it for a 84 mustang GT350 20th aniv ... ended up the stang was junk but the engine is a beaut its in my 4x4 stang right now ...

i had a 1987 buick skylark with a V6 push'n ton of power for a FF car and it was light as heck cause it was made for a 4cyl

Has there been a thread similar to this but doing lap times..?
If not maybe we should get it going. Say, 3 classes or something ranging from 30K , 60K and 100K on a particular track that isnt biased towards any particular type of vehicle. This may bring forth a greater range of cars for people to enter rather than just the obvious 4wd's that dominate the strip. Even drivetrain classes could be an option for those wanting to tune ff's they can just compete against other ff's to lead their class..? (having an overall leaderboard as well)
I think its a pretty good idea, if anyone else thinks we should go ahead with it, or if its already being done, please let me know and well start it up.
Soughta like a world wide lap qualifying championship or something.
Using the same descriptions of spending as the strip contest, and obviously honesty based I think this could be very entertaining.

Get back to me all,
tom
semvhu
GTrack, that 10.981 is WITH N2O, right? Just want to make sure. If not, you're REALLY owning that class. :o)
semvhu
Well, I couldn't improve my times or match my previous records today, so I'm stopping with that. At least I'm near the top of the FR category at the moment. We'll see how long I stay there.

I need to take a course on setting up the suspension. My best results came from raising the front and rear all the way up, stiffening the front as much as possible, and lowering the rear stiffness as much as possible. That can't be optimum, but it seemed to work okay.

tomvale, that sounds like a good idea, but I'd be surprised if it hasn't been done yet. If you start one or find one that's already been started, I'm definitely game for such a thing. Heck, someone that has a bunch of time on their hands should start a website dedicated to such a thing.

Interesting. A little googling found http://gt3.gttimes.com/, and http://www.gttimes.com/ says it's coming soon. I'll have to check those out later.

Surely there is a better FF car than the Eclipse. That's the car I'm leading that category with at the moment. I have hopes for the FTO being able to knock it off, though, since it comes close in power and weight.

Bah, time to go back to work.
letdown427
GTrackd02, sorry for the off topic, but your car sounds fantastic. Being stuck here in england, i don't get to see any kind of muscle very often, and my god, what a noise.
as a question, i noticed your 8 is a 281 cu in? whats that in good old litres?
semvhu
Not to rain on GT's parade and steal his thunder, but a 281 ci Ford V8 is 4.6 liters of displacement. What, you're from England and you don't think you guys have any muscle? I'll take a TVR over a Mustang any day of the week, thank you very much.

OK as would I, the point i meant to make was more that we don't get to see muscle as often. Whereas mustangs, camaros etc, are pretty commonplace in a lot of the US, or so it seems, TVRs aren't as easy to find. Unfortunately.

To get back on topic, just started the ol' 1/4mi again, second run, 10.005, time to get tuning.

Impreza WRX Sti '00 15990 26050 miles
weight 1200
turbo 4800
nos 5000
exhaust 1600
flywheel 1050
oil 50

9.735, im gonna get you cobra!
9.683!
letdown427
9.580! I think i can break 9.5 with a bit more tuning, i havnt been very scientific so far.

9.514. A slightly shortened third gear, and i hope to be there!
semvhu
Ya, I was being 50% serious and 50% facetious when I posted that. Mustangs, Camaros, even 'Vettes are fairly commonplace around these hyar parts. I figured TVR's were about as common as Vipers are over here.

But I'd still take a TVR over most muscle cars we have. But I'll have another 'Vette one of these days. Honest.

Back on subject, good times, guys! Unless I can figure out how to tweak another 10th out of my Camaro, I think I'm done for in the FR category.

We need more folk in the FF category. Just a few of us have tried it. Surely you guys can spank my FF times.

FF heavyweights don't exist becuase front wheel drive is not logical in the slightest for a vehicle beyond 3200-3500 lbs... and if you mean no really fast 1/4 mile FFs, then well a FR car with the same hp, and weight and gear settings will pummel that FF. And FR is the prefered format for cars, period. McLaren uses it, F1 cars use it, JGTC uses it, drag cars use it, nascar, indy, I oculd go on and on... but still FR is the choice for true sports cars. Sorry kids, Eclipses, Preludes, etc are not sports cars. Hell they are economy cars. Not really made for performance of any kind besides gas ,mileage...
although I get better mpg than my buddy's 4 banger eclipse.
Well on my Olds cutlass, it's a 3.8l v6, carbourated motor. I get 18-21 around town, 27-30 on the highway....
My stang... lets not go there.....
semvhu
I'm not sure what you mean by "FF heavyweights don't exist." Surely you've heard of the FF Cadillac Sedan De Villes, Oldsmobile Toronados, etc.

Now if you simply meant that a heavy FF car will not do well in the 1/4 mile, then yes, I agree with you.
