Hello, we are DriverSports.org and we are committed to providing high quality, realistic, accessible racing for GT5. We are a brand-new organization, though combined, our organizers have over a decade of experience operating league racing for Gran Turismo. Born out of an honest passion for racing and Gran Turismo we are looking to bring our experience and resources to the committed enthusiast racers of this forum.

Our methods are different from the usual practices at GTPlanet, but we are confident that they will be understood and appreciated. Once fully operational we will operate racing that is not limited to advanced sign-ups and reserves, basically our entries are limitless. A pre-qualifying system will be used to establish divisions that group drivers of a similar pace and experienced participants will be tapped as room hosts. Live qualifying will be used creating a two-stage qualifying system that's not quite 'knockout', but 'lock-in'. Post-race the hosts will collect and submit the race completion times, which will be combined across all divisions to determine a combined overall finishing order. Anyone can enter and everyone has a shot at the win. We will also track driver experience in a database that will eventually form an experience based licensing system as we expand our race offerings and progress in to faster cars.

We will be using this first week of January for a handful of No Tuning events in some common street cars so that we can bring all of our tools online, work out any bugs and just generally meet some new racers. We will use the rest of January to introduce our methods of car restrictions, which also differ from the norm. From there we will begin to offer a generous range of high quality racing series of all kinds.

Welcome to the inaugural DriverSports.org event, our first Winter Testing sessions. These test sessions consist of four events in street cars with no tuning, on the default tires, in this case Comfort Softs. The PP restriction will also be used, set to allow for a fully broken-in car. Each event will consist of two separately scored races, Race 1 at 9:30 PM EST Race 2 at 11:30 PM EST. Participants are welcome in any one of, or both races. Race distances are targeted to produce 40 mins of racing. The schedule is as follows:
  • Sunday Jan 1 - Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 [P] | No Tuning | 365PP | Tsukuba Circuit 2.05 km / 1.27 mi
  • Monday Jan 2 - Honda Integra Type R (DC5) '04 [P] | No Tuning | 427PP | Autumn Ring 2.95 km / 1.83 mi

Pre-Qualifying
Set your lounge up with the proper event regulations and the lap count indicated below. Run the race alone and save the replay. Report your best lap time as your Pre-Qualifying time before the deadline. These times will set the divisions. Live qualifying will set the starting grids. You may use the same PQ time to enter both races and you may also re-qualify for the second race with a faster PQ time. See the Rulebook for full details.
  • PQ Lap Count: 5
  • Live Q Session: 10 mins
Submit your PQ Time(s) HERE Please use your exact PSN ID

Qualifying Deadlines
  • Race 1: 9:00 PM EST
  • Race 2: 11:00 PM EST
Drivers Meetings
Hosts will distribute Drivers Meeting text chat invites no later than listed start time. Drivers must enter the text chat before the end time. Hosts will build the race room as an Open Lobby for the exact number of drivers present in the text chat. Miss the meeting, miss the race.
  • Race 1: 9:20 - 9:30 PM EST
  • Race 2: 11:20 - 11:30 PM EST
Live Qualifying - Upon entering the lobby do not take to the track or enter the pits. With all drivers present in the lobby the host will set the Automatic Race Start ycle to 10 mins. As soon as the track loads the live qualifying is open and drivers may enter the pits and track. Once the timer has expired the race will begin automatically. Glitches and inconsistencies in the game's sorting of the grid will be ignored and chalked up to luck.

Scoring - Event hosts will collect the finish positions and completion times of all participants and post them to the forum. Once all division's results are in totals will be collaborated in to a final standings where the driver with fastest completion time is declared the winner. Timed-out drivers will be scored based on finishing position, ahead of any retirements. Individual disconnections will be recognized as mechanical failure and drivers will score a DNF.

Penalties - The method of enforcement depends on the severity of the incident(s). Minor incidents will usually result in a time penalty of 30 seconds (roughly equal to a stop-and-go). Serious infractions will see a driver lose points on their license and the most serious of offenses will end up with a driver having their license reduced by one level. All penalties will be administered after a marshal's review. All race results will remain unofficial until the close of any incident reviews. All penalties are modifiable at the discretion of the reviewing race marshal.

Minor - Minimum 30 second time penalty
Serious - 1-3 Points
Major - License Reduction

Appeals
- All penalized drivers have the right to appeal their penalty. To file an appeal, reply to the penalty notice with your intent to appeal. Review the race replay and make notes describing the incident in question and how the ruling is incorrect from your car, preferably using the 'balloon cam' third person point of view. Submit those notes to the Marshal as well. A second review will be made by another marshal and a final decision made.

Sporting Driver's Code

Participants will drive to the best of their abilities for the duration of the race. Should a driver need to retire it is preferable that they park their car safely off track but stay in the room. Pausing to make use of the auto-drive is not allowed.

A driver must maintain the defined racing surface with 2 wheels of the same side of the car on or above the white line or curbing. Should a driver leave the track they cannot gain advantage by short cutting or overrunning and following through. A brief but deliberate lift of the throttle, once in full control and in a safe manner, is the acceptable way to indicate no intention of gaining advantage after leaving the track. Re-entering the track is to be done without interfering with cars still on track.

Contact with walls, cones, barriers and other cars is discouraged. Minor contact is excusable. Excessive minor contact may be penalized. Contact causing another car to leave the track and/or suffer damage, or gaining advantage by causing contact of any kind will result in an automatic penalty. Do not pull over or slow down after an incident. Time based penalties will be administered after a race review, before the results are finalized.

A driver can choose their line in to and through a corner unless there is a reasonable side by side overlap at which point the cars are engaged and all drivers must maintain their lane and make every reasonable attempt to avoid contact. A following driver must earn inside overlap under control and before the leading car commits to its turn in and without pushing in to the opponent. A leading car being passed on the inside must not turn down on to a car that has gained overlap to their inside. Drivers are responsible for being aware of getting lapped and must deviate from the normal racing line to allow lappers to pass. Extra care is to be given when approached to be lapped by multiple cars and near the end of the race. Lapped traffic must not interfere with lappers and should only challenge if they have an obvious pace advantage.

On 'straightaways' drivers are allowed one move to change their line before half distance and one move in the final third to choose their corner entry. Deliberate weaving to block an opponent and repetitive swerving to break the draft is expressly forbidden.

The pit lane is to be entered and exited inside the appropriate lanes with no more than 2 tires of the same side of the car crossing the sidelines of pit lane. Drivers on track must not interfere with cars inside those lanes. Drivers exiting the pit lane must not interfere with cars on track.

Please contact the race officials to request a review of any incidents, on track or otherwise. All participants are encouraged to report anything they feel might be a violation of the DriverSports.org Rule Book by contacting the race officials privately. Public accusations or outbursts towards another driver are not allowed.

These events take place on our forum and others, as well as on the Playstation Network. Participants will treat others with respect and dignity and adhere to all Forum and PSN rules and restrictions.

If you've got nothing planned for this evening, grab a stock 89 Eunos roadster, break it in if possible, and come join us for two races tonight. Entries are open to all comers, you just have to run a 5 lap race alone in your lobby, collect the fastest lap time, and submit it to our qualifying page. You'll be sorted into a group of similarly paced drivers and when all is said and done, the completion times will be combined to determine an overall finishing order. You can run in one or both races.

We'll be running two races, one at 9:30 and the second at 11:30 PM Eastern. You Q times have to be in 30 mins before the race.

We're competitive, clean racers and we have a good system in place for hosting our races. Anyone interested in good racing should give us a chance, especially if you are involved in running events here at GTP. We have a few unique tools and methods that might be of some interest to other race organizers around here.

Pre-Qualifying has officially closed on our very first event. Chat invites will be sent out no later than 9:20 PM EST.

http://dsoqualifying.appspot.com/standings?event=6017

I will do the chat and group44 will host the room. Good luck and thanks for joining us :D

P.S. Congratulations on pole position... let's see... :suspect: ForgetfuI! :face:

Please join us for our 2nd race at 11:30
