That was just weird.

Started 5th,was 4th because Graham jumped the start and then dropped back, was planning to just drive along and wait and then I got the big draft and went from 4th to 1st on lap 5.I had the lead for almost 60 sec, was hit twice and then drove myself off on the right just before T2.While trying to get back on track I hit Dom (or he hit me-or something) we both get damage.I have to drive off the track to avoid getting run over by the rest of the field and limp to the pits and come out dead last in 9th.

The next hour was a mind numbing drive around on crap tires trying to salvage my 3 stop strategy that was blown to hell after stopping on lap 5.I stretched my 2nd pit window by 2 laps and my last an extra lap until i was back on schedule for the switch to mediums on lap 27.I was back up to 7th when I finally starting racing and starting catching Troy in huge chunks.I caught and passed him to take 6th and set my sights on Satou who was running 5th.I could see on the map that I was gaining 3-4 sec per lap on him and I might have a chance to salvage a top 5 out of this mess.

Lap 35. I have Satou in my sights.I am about 6 sec behind when I see on the map a car spinning at Les Combes. As we get closer to Rivage Graham is doing all he can to get his car to go in a straight line and Satou gets held up.Graham was running 4th at the time so after all that I am back to were I started the night in 5th.

Lap 36.When we take the white flag I am 2 sec behind Satou.I catch his draft in the run downhill into Pouhon.Once i caught a sniff of the draft I knew that this spot was mine at the bus stop.Down thru Stavelot Satou is doing alot of swerving to break the draft when I notice that Overheating's car is driving in limp mode and now this battle has turned into a chance for a podium.Satou takes the left side leaving my to deal with the inside entry/outside exit and I gladly take that. With his worn tires he has no chance to out brake me and runs deep which leaves no angle for a clean exit.I made sure to take the proper exit line and cutoff any chance that he will get by me.

In the end I will take the points and the ballast to GP/F and hope to get lucky again since I will probably have to pit every 5 laps.
Sounded like a good finish after everything seem lost. Well done.

NJ72 (\/)!_!(\/) It's a crab!
I'd like to claim that my tactics are paying off, I have no ballast

however it's actually because I'm not fast enough...

Just uploading some pics of Spa, some good ones, some not so much...

EDIT: here's the pics:

^^ Some REALLY low-res coke billboards there... shocking PD...

^^ Amazingly no contact what-so-ever at this part of the race. closest i've seen two cars without contact

And there's a few more on my Flickr here

Also, if you wanna view them bigger go on my Flickr. sorry, but I really couldn't be bothered to go through and hyperlink all of them

How did you come up with those ballast figures? I don't think any of them are right.
Off the top of my head they should be:
MAXKING 1210kg
Bortech 1180kg
L_Hamilton 1170kg
MONSTAR 1130kg
Trajikone 1120kg

It's a shame that the '03 impreza is such a low-res car... it looks god awful unless you put some kind of blur on it

It's total points scored for the round, not finishing position that determines ballast. You scored 23 points, so did Bortech. I gave the ballast the wrong way. I have now changed it. Bortech receives an extra 10kg and you lose 20kg. Thanks for noticing so quickly

Sorry for the jumped start guys. I joined just in time for checks and I briefly saw someone talking about the race starting after turn 1... I thought that meant as soon as you're clear of the turn punch it. I didn't realize until after I had done that and slowed back up that it was intended to start at the start line on the other side of the pits. I did back off to retake my normal position before Eau Rouge, but then (if you watch the replay) I had an engine failure on the straight and had to re-fire.

Then for the next handful of laps I got caught up with the middle pack and had some good close racing, which unfortunately meant the front pack (where I should have been) steadily pulled away. After a while I got away from the middle and started running some laps in clean air. I had worked my way back up to 4th and put on RMs for the last stint. I was planning to make them last longer than the stints on RH and as I slowly approached Overheating I could taste a 3rd place finish. In the last few laps I realized that my RMs were really falling off and that 3rd wasn't going to happen but I just needed to hold steady for 4th. Then on the 2nd to last lap, my tires were gone. I got way loose through Radillion and sideways through the next couple turns. I knew I was doomed! I dropped to 5th as I was passed in the right hairpin towards the back of the track while I was struggling to maintain a straight line. Then I spun it and got some damage on the next left and I then I limped on completely bald tires the rest of the lap as everyone flew by me. I was lapped by the race leader as I was pirouetting across the huge grassy opening before the final chicane. I drove through the pits and just let autopilot finish the race for me, as I sobbed into my hands.

They tied, isn't that equal ballast anymore?

Unless something new has determined there's a good and bad way to score exactly the same points that one deserves ballast and not the other?
