Steward's Notes:

This special event series has been designed to offer participants a Full Formula 1 Experience covering all available GT5 Grand Prix Circuits. Each stop on the calendar is scheduled on the same weekend as the corresponding real life FIA Formula 1 Grand Prix and includes free practice sessions on Thursday and Friday, a three round knockout qualifying session on Saturday, and a full length race on Sunday.

Full Formula 1 Experience:
  • Live F1 style knockout qualification
  • Multiple tire compounds - Race Soft and Race Hard
  • Drivers must use both compounds during the race, but will only be provided two sets of Race Soft tires (removed due to replay glitches)
  • F1 style formation lap and standing start (race starts at the 3 minute mark)
  • Race distance will match the real FIA Formula 1 Grand Prix (+1 for the formation lap)
  • The driver championship will utilize the FIA Formula 1 point system (25 | 18 | 15 | 12 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 1)

Lounge Settings (@ GTP_3D3Racing | GTP_3D3_A | GTP_3D3_B)

  • Race Quality: Standard
  • Voice Chat Quality: Low (Disabled with grids of 12 or more)
  • Lounge Limits:
    • One spot is reserved in room 1 for the broadcaster (oink) who will observe the race and manage a live feed on twitch.
    • 00-17: The top 15 qualifiers will race in room 1 and any remaining drivers will be on "stand by" and fill in for absent drivers or last minute cancellations.
    • 18-23: The top 12 qualifiers will race in room 1 and the remaining drivers (6-11) in room 2.
    • 24-26: The top 13 qualifiers will race in room 1 and the remaining drivers (11-13) in room 2.
    • 27-28: The top 14 qualifiers will race in room 1 and the remaining drivers (13-14) in room 2.

    • Individual race wins or podium finishes in room 2 are considered "official" for historical tracking purposes.

Knockout Qualification

Saturday's one-hour qualifying event is split into three sessions with a 5 minute break between each session to reset times:
  • Q1: 20 minute elimination round where the slowest drivers are knocked out and fill the last positions on the starting grid.
  • Q2: 15 minute elimination round where the slowest drivers are knocked out and fill the middle positions on the starting grid.
  • Q3: 10 minute shootout to determine pole position and the starting order for the top places on the starting grid.
  • The number of drivers that advance in each round is specified in the following table:

Qualification Details:
  • Pits: In all rounds the pits are open for tire changes.
  • Laps: In all rounds drivers can run as many laps as they wish. Any lap started prior to the time cutoff is legal.
  • Tires: Drivers can use any approved tire compound during qualification. Drivers eliminated in Q3 or Q2 have their choice of compound to start the race. Drivers that advance to Q3 must start the race with the tires used during their fastest lap in Q3.
  • Cutoffs: The number of drivers that are eliminated in each round will depend on the total number of drivers participating in knockout qualifying. The cutoffs will be announced an hour prior to qualifying.
  • Lounge Limits: In the event that more than 16 drivers are registered for qualification, lounges will be split evenly for Q1 at the discretion of the stewards and the number of advancing drivers will be adjusted so that there are no more than 14 drivers for Q2. The lobbies will then merge for the remaining two rounds. A steward will post instructions to this thread, including which room drivers should report to, at least an hour before qualification.
  • Disconnects: If a driver DCs during qualification he/she is allowed to rejoin the lounge. If a steward has recorded their fast lap prior to the DC the lap will count otherwise only laps run after returning to the lounge and prior to the end of the session will count.
  • Interference: If a driver is deemed by the stewards to have stopped unnecessarily on the circuit or impeded another driver during qualifying, his times may be cancelled and the driver will be placed at the back of the grid for the race start. The stewards decisions are final. Should a driver spin, run off track, or lose control of his car he must wait for a clear opening in the track to return. If a driver is in a position where he is slower than the car behind him for any reason he must slow and yield his line so that the approaching driver is not held up. Drivers that interfere with another drivers' hot lap may incur a grid placement penalty at the discretion of the stewards.

Alternate Pre-Qualification:
  • Any driver that cannot participate in the live qualification session for any reason must contact a steward (or post to this thread) and arrange for a private qualification session.
  • All private qualifying sessions are observed and will last 5 laps (1 out lap, 3 hot laps, 1 cool down lap).
  • The driver's best "clean" hot lap will become his qualification time. If no "clean" laps are run, the drivers best "dirty" lap will be used, but with 1 second penalty added per wall tap and/or 2 seconds for a chicane cut or dirty section which has the potential to gain the driver time.
  • Any driver that qualifies in this manner can start no higher than drivers that advance to Q3 during knockout qualification.
  • Pre-qualification is a one shot deal and once you start your qualification race you are committed. In the case of a DC you must return to the lounge ASAP and run any laps you had not started during the initial session.
  • Once you run pre-qualification your time is final and you cannot run the live session on Saturday.
  • Pre-qualification lap times will not / should not be revealed until after the live qualification on Saturday.
  • Drivers that have not qualified prior to the start of the live qualification will not be allowed to race without prior steward approval.
  • The following is a list of approved qualification stewards:

Pace & Control Requirements:
  • Any driver that qualifies slower than the specific time set by the stewards for each track (~10 seconds off pace) may be excluded from the race.
  • Any driver that displays a lack of consistent car control during final practice or qualification may be excluded from the race.
  • The decision of the stewards in this matter is final.

Formula One Style Championship Points System
  • The driver championship will utilize the FIA Formula 1 point system where the top 10 finishers are awarded points (25 | 18 | 15 | 12 | 10 | 8 | 6 | 4 | 2 | 1).
  • If multiple lounges are run in any GP the following special rules will be observed to allow drivers in room 2 a chance to score points:
    • Points positions 1-6 (pts = 25 | 18 | 15 | 12 | 10 | 8 ) will come from the top 6 finishers in room 1.
    • Points positions 7-10 (pts = 6 | 4 | 2 | 1) will be based on merging the results from both rooms and comparing the total race times of the remaining drivers.
    • In the case of merged results, drivers who fail to finish before the timer expires will get a total time for comparison purposes vs the other lounge equal to the the race time when they completed their last lap plus 103% of their time for their last completed lap times number of laps not completed. This is unlikely to come into play for points, but just in case.
  • If two or more drivers finish the season with the same number of points, the higher place in the Championship shall be awarded to:
    • the holder of the greatest number of first places,
    • if the number of first places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of second places,
    • if the number of second places is the same, the holder of the greatest number of third places and so on until a winner emerges.
    • if this procedure fails to produce a result, the position will be based on finishing position on the final GP of the season.
    • If neither driver involved in the tie takes part in the final GP then the position will be based on the last GP that both took part.
    • If none of the above apply, then the position will be given to the driver with the lower handicap.

Formula One Style Formation Lap and Standing Start
  • Once the starting order is confirmed by the steward all drivers should enter the pits.
  • When all drivers are in the pits, the steward will call the drivers one at a time onto the track and the drivers will line up in single file behind the pole sitter in order to stage the grid.
  • Once all drivers are in their proper start positions the steward will start the race countdown timer.
  • After the system places you on the grid for the start, drivers will line up single file and proceed with the formation lap.
  • At no time should the pacing car exceed 200 kph and all turns will be taken at reasonable speeds.
  • Weaving or other tire warming procedures ARE allowed during the formation lap - please be careful.
  • Following the exit of the final corner all drivers will proceed to their appropriate grid starting marker.
  • The race clock in the top right corner of the screen will then be utilized for timing the race start.
  • At exactly 3 minutes (3:00.000) on the clock the race starts.
  • If there is a problem staging the grid any driver can delay the start by one minute, but must do so by chat announcement at least 15 seconds prior to the start time.
  • Should any driver mistakenly start prior to the designated mark they must lift immediately so as to not gain position from the error prior to turn 1.
  • Be cautious and courteous in the first turn. Dive bombing will be penalized and will not be tolerated. These are tricky cars and turn 1 is tough period. Error on the side of caution and use runoff areas if available and necessary to avoid contact, but do not use it to gain positions.
  • Please take the time to practice this start procedure at least once in a practice session.

Track Boundary Guidelines
Drivers are expected to do their best to stay within track boundaries per the OLR. Mistakes happens over the course of a long race and the random off or two will be overlooked in most instances, but if a pattern of boundary abuse is observed penalties will be handed out which include 15 seconds for a "minor" pattern of abuse, 30 seconds for a "substantial" pattern of abuse, and a DQ for "complete disregard" of track boundaries. In cases where penalties may not impact the driver (e.g. DC), the penalty may be carried over to the next event and may be applied as a 5 (minor) or 10 (major) grid spot penalty.

It's up to the admins' discretion exactly what qualifies as "minor", "substantial" or "complete disregard". Going outside the rumble by a centimeter isn't as serious as a car length wide excursions into the run off area. Factors such as dirty air and traffic also come into play. If you find yourself going wide then the next lap you're expected to slow down a bit more to make sure you stay within boundaries. If you make the same mistake multiple times and you want to avoid a penalty you can always self-penalize during the race by lifting for a very brief period upon returning to the track. Continuing to hammer the throttle after repeated boundary overruns may very well end with a post race penalty.

Specifics:
  • Contact with walls should be avoided. Wall riding/bouncing to gain time will be penalized and/or can result in disqualification.
  • Rumble/ripple strips are part of the track.
  • Runoff areas are not part of the track including green painted concrete.
  • Keep 2 wheels on or above the track in order to be considered within boundaries.
  • Specific track boundaries may be posted per event and may overrule the above.

Infractions and Penalties
  • The first step post race after an incident should be to contact other drivers involved in an incident via PM and try to come to some sort of understanding on all drivers point of view and if possible determine and agree who was at fault. If drivers come to an agreement and the results are not significantly impacted by the incident then no further action is necessary. If the incident was significant then follow up this driver to driver discussion with a report and review of the incident to an admin for penalty assessment.
  • If neither driver can agree as to who is at fault for an incident or the severity then escalate that incident to an admin via PM.
  • Be sure to include as many details as possible and an exact lap number and race time with the incident report. Admins will not waste time searching for the incident and will ignore any reports that do not specify the time of occurrence.
  • Admins/Steward will review and discuss all incidents before coming to a decision. If further detail is needed, drivers will be contacted via PM. Once a decision is reached by the incident review team there is no appeal process and the penalties are final.
  • Penalties could include loss of positions, loss of championship points and/or grid start penalties in future race. There is no fixed formula for penalties, but the context and severity of the incident is taken into account.

This WRS-Online event hosted by 3D3 Racing is open to GTP_Registered members only. If you are not currently on the registry run the GTP_Registry qualifier and join now!

Registration Instructions

The following must be performed by every driver for every event:
  • Click the registration button above, fill-in and submit the online registration form[/URL] (use your GTP_ tag ID)
  • Leave a quick note in this thread to let us know you've registered and any other comments.
The following must be performed only one time per driver (not per event):
  • Send a PSN friend request to GTP_3D3Racing, GTP_3D3_A and GTP_3D3_B with subject line "3D3 Racing" from your GTP_tag ID.
  • Submit the 3D3 Racing Online Driver Database Entry Form. Your information will need to be verified before you are added to the db and before your ID will appear in the registered driver table above. You can view the official driver database here.

There is a 30 car/driver limit for this event and slots are awarded on the grid using qualification time. Reference the registered drivers table above for availability.

Registration Changes

If you want to change your status or any other registration choices just click on the registration link and fill out the form again and submit with new values. Your last entry will override any previous entries.

Cancellations

If for some reason, after you register for the event, you are unable to attend the race please post in this thread so we can update the registration list and make the spot available to another driver. Also click the registration button above and complete the form again selecting "cancel" as event status.

Registered, and will make the first race. Already ran the car in today at SPA, then went to an extended practise on Monaco. Best times been registered. Incredibel much fun !! 👍

Did you roll your own tune or use one of the base tunes?

I'll have to get a lap up there before Twissy has a crack at it... will be the only chance to get P1 on the leader board. :lol:

Different ones, but at Monaco I ended up feeling most comftable with Mark(hydro's) suspension and brake balance, adapted (as in lowered) LSD settings and my own 'Mongescian' gearbox tranny.

Note that this car is a beast but don't be affraid as it is glue'd on track. If you make no steering mistakes you should be fine. Also did it with my F1 wheel, wich also adds to my driving style as the expierence itself :dopey:


@ admins : Noticed something strange, I am registered as a Div 3 driver, but in the practise time table's it says Div4 (not that it is important, but just wanted to mention this 'hick up'.)

You have an excellent setup there Hydro, it is indeed very tempting to join but I'm to busy trying to hang on to my FGT stock trophy by my "chinny chin chin" as David Hobbs would say.

I don't think drafting is going to help much at Monaco as the dirty air is going to impact you as much... unless you time it just right and catch some going into the tunnel or out of the final corner. But we'll add some language to clarify as it could be huge at other tracks. The OLR admins will discuss, write up some language and we'll post an update back here.

Personally, I would prefer not to allow any drafting, it's just that if we have a very busy Q1 it'll be impossible to police or in some cases avoid. We may have to have slightly different rules in Q1/Q2/Q3. Q3 will most definitely have a ban on drafting as we'll have both sufficient track space and observers to police it.

And, you do not need to use both tires during qualification. You can run the entire qualification on Racing Softs. The only reason you may want to use Racing Hards is if you make Q3 and you want to start the race on the hard compound. Although it would be fun to limit the number of sets of Racing Softs each driver gets during qualification, we are going to run the entire session in free run mode so there will be no replay to review to enforce a rule like that.

PS> Just a quick note that the rules won't be set in stone until a week prior to the event (May 18th) so if good ideas are presented and they can be implemented the admins are open to discussing.

I don't think drafting is going to help much at Monaco as the dirty air is going to impact you as much... unless you time it just right and catch some going into the tunnel or out of the final corner. But we'll add some language to clarify as it could be huge at other tracks. The OLR admins will discuss, write up some language and we'll post an update back here.

Personally, I would prefer not to allow any drafting, it's just that if we have a very busy Q1 it'll be impossible to police or in some cases avoid. We may have to have slightly different rules in Q1/Q2/Q3. Q3 will most definitely have a ban on drafting as we'll have both sufficient track space and observers to police it.

And, you do not need to use both tires during qualification. You can run the entire qualification on Racing Softs. The only reason you may want to use Racing Hards is if you make Q3 and you want to start the race on the hard compound. Although it would be fun to limit the number of sets of Racing Softs each driver gets during qualification, we are going to run the entire session in free run mode so there will be no replay to review to enforce a rule like that.

Thanks Tim, that has cleared up my questions, and indeed I was not refering to Monaco about the slipstreaming, as being in the slipstream or not having a free track will defenitly be a disadvantage. But I thougt to mention it as it will be something we need to deal with on the other tracks.

The rules won't be set in stone until a week prior to the event (May 18th) so if good ideas are presented (and they can be implemented and enforced) the admins are open to discussing. Also, we reserve the right to tweak things between events, but only to address an issue we discover during the event or to address an issue with a specific track.

Speaking of track specific rules... We will be publishing track boundary and pit entry/exit guidelines for each individual track. Look for that post a week or two before each event.

I was just going to post that I configured the B lounge (GTP_3D3_B) to default to Monaco. I'll keep the B lounge setup by default to the current F1 track so that way no matter what's going on in the main lounge (weekly events, academy, parity racing, etc.) we can use the B lounge for F1 practice.

Nothing going on today anyway so we'll just use the main lounge, but after today let's use B for all F1 Championship practice.
 
Did a few laps. Used Porsche's base tune with a tweaked final gear and ran a 1'12.449 on Racing Softs and my best splits are under 1'12. Definitely a lot left in the lap... 1-2 seconds probably. I totally messed up the hairpin and had a mediocre run through the swimming pool.

Fatigue may play a factor in this race (for me at least)... I'm going to have to turn down the FFB and look at adjusting the steering ratio on my T500 (if that's possible). It's just impossible to take the hairpin correctly where it's set up now without doing acrobatics.
 
Never been a huge fan/follower of F1, and for the same reasons haven't spent much time in them in GT but I can never say no to some racing, so I will put some time in and get in there :D

Edit: Was worried when I saw that quali sessions would be on saturday, but fortunately I will be back home from work by then. That's a relief.

Got a 1'12.440 just after you left, still some time left to gain going by the splits. I found the hards a lot easier to run at the moment.

That hairpin is hard, unfortunatly there is no way for me to alter the wheel :ill:.
 
I'd say 1'11 is definitely possible as I was up by .4 over that 1'12.440 until I clipped the wall coming out of the chicane and ended up spinning because of it. I don't even have the gears set properly for the track.

We're throwing you to the fire... Monaco, the first, will be the most challenging. If you can make it through that one the other tracks are much more wide open. They are all challenging, but this track is hard regardless of the car.

I've updated the leader board to includes splits, so be sure to include those with your best lap submissions. You can exit to the lobby and view the leader board and you will see your best splits from the last session. Once you re-enter the track the board is cleared for you though. This way we can build a theoretical best lap... I put my two best in there and the theoretical best is 1'11.994 at the moment, but that's going to tumble fast.
 
Thinking of signing up but might take a while to get to level 30, and get the 20mil for the F1 car so won't just yet. Did some practice on my other account though and did a 1.11.4, could of done a 1.10 but kept hitting the walls so gave up.

It's not too bad to level up if you borrow a car from another driver (or another one of your accounts) and then run a seasonal where they have Performance Difference Bonus.

Send me a FR and I'll put on share a Gallardo at 468-475 PP which can win $2M+ per race in the Lamborghini 550PP Exclusive seasonal at Toscana. Forgot the exp earned, but it's a lot.

10 races should get you the $20M you need + level you up to 30. I'll bet it's a lot less than 10 races to get to L 30 too if you have credits already.

Yes, but you need to be on the GTP_Registry first... read this: GTP WRS-Online : Comprehensive Guide.

You have enough time to run the qualifier, get your division and build up enough credits to buy the F10... And once you are on the registry you can take part in all WRS events:
