I bet those last few laps were fantastic! I guess I'm just not meant to enjoy motorsport this weekend...

I'm fine with it being on 7mate, I do receive the digital and HD channels. It was just a little poke at Ten and their F1 coverage.

I was mad when there was a sudden long commercial brake on the last 2 laps. Turned out it was some ort of technical glitch with the coverage. Luckily they showed the full replay of the last 2 laps, fantastic racing!

Austin: T-Minus 1 day!
Man I was freaking out when the channel froze. Thought it was the stream at first so I went in search of another one. The next channel was only on lap 42, so I stayed with the first one. Glad they showed the final two laps in replay, the finish was epic! I think Whincup was trying a little too hard there at the end and did himself in. But, that's fine with me!

EDIT: I wonder what happened to Premat. He had a 4 times trip into the pit lane for cutting the chicane! |

There was the suggestion that his transponder was not working properly after the car was rebuilt. There may have also been a fault in the system on the circuit, because Will Davison got pinged four times and the team couldn't work out what was happening.

That explains why. I think that couldn't be the fault in the system on the circuit though because if it's so, then everybody else should've been affected by this. Unless, there is a specific system for specific driver which I don't think is the case...
Surely we're just speculating, I'd like to hear the outcome of this. EDIT: Went to the V8 Supercars Official FB page and uh, not a good response from the fans for the last laps coverage glitch

What an epic finish, thought Whincup would get pass Winterbottom but Mark did a fantastic job to hang on to 1st. Big thumbs up to Fabian Coulthard who finished 5th and the less said about HRT's day the better.

PS - I'm not sure where the hell I was discrediting you (or your post) - except when you attempted a straw man argument. FYI (Quoting Wikipedia) A straw man is a component of an argument and is an informal fallacy based on misrepresentation of an opponent's position.[1] To "attack a straw man" is to create the illusion of having refuted a proposition by replacing it with a superficially similar yet unequivalent proposition (the "straw man"), and refuting it, without ever having actually refuted the original position. |

I don't need to refute anything, because I have precedent on my side. V8 Supercars Australia has a well-documented history of introducing format changes to various races for the sake of giving them a little extra personality, and trying to attract a wider fanbase. The idea of running three separate races on three different circuits as part of one round is consistent with this. Your alternate proposal of having one race meeting for each layout breaks character. You never actually provided a solid foundation for this argument other than "it's gimmicky", which can be supplanted with "I don't like it". You then suggested that your proposal was the better because it is consistent with other championships. Since those championships are not run by VESA and since VESA has never observed the practices of any other championship, you have completely failed to validate yoru argument. So all you have really done is said "I don't like it" and then expected the conversation to change to another subject since you had already passed jusgement on it. So it's very rich of you to accuse me of hubris when this is something that you do in each and every single post you make here. You expect that your word on any subject is final, and when someone disputes that, you resort to passive-aggression as you try to discredit their one post, as if by finding one tiny flaw in their argument, you have somehow invalidated everything that person has ever said on the topic. You're clearly an intelligent guy, so why don't you start using your powers for good? |

cracking weekend. Was all set to see until DRAMA. Friday woke up early hours of the morning with a sore stomach. Never got back to sleep. Went to V8's still with sore stomach and getting worse. Made it through the day, got the signature of every driver in the championship, plus a couple of others, stomach feeling worse still. Got some incredible footage. Friday evening Partner took me to hospital. Found out my Appendix was inflammed and on it's last life.
Saturday morning, went into surgery. Finally awoke properly saturday evening after race 1. Incredibly gutted but I hear congratulations go to Will Davison. Sunday morning and I'm feeling a lot better. Eagerly waiting for doctors to check me out and release me from that prison. Mid day comes round and nothing. Ok missed qualifying. 1pm rolls around and BAM! I'm looking good and released. Not to go home but to race 2 of the v8s. No way was I going to miss it. Especially after hearing that Whincup had binned it earlier. So moving very slowly into the circuit I find my friends and wait. Race is on. Rather uneventful. Last 5 laps incredible. Camera at the ready. Watching the big screen in suspense. Will done Frosty. Being a Holden man I still congratulate you. Slow walk back and fourth through the pits allowed for some great photos and congratulating frosty in person. Also NZD$25 later I found myself in the possesion of a signed Tim slade Wing mirror. Pretty damn good weekend minus the operation on day 2. Farewell ITM400 |

The V8s are at the new-look Barbagallo this weekend, and there is already controversy with VESA deciding to change the pit entry:

Race 7 starts at 14:00 local time and according to the weather forecast, it seems like we may see a wet weather race today. The qualifying today seems like going to be a wet one.
