This is an interest check for a 50 mile race at Apricot Hill.
I got the idea from Matej and his 100km Deep Forest race.
This race is going to be a bit shorter to help people with the memory card problem, and it will have a special system for car choices to jumble things around a bit.

Instead of people picking whatever cars they wanted, I will do a draw for each person, I will draw a country, (Or a bunch or smaller countries.) and a drivetrain type, FR, MR/RR, and 4WD.
This will ensure that there will be a wide variety of cars entering.

The second part of it is that the older the car, the better the p/w ratio is allowed to be.
2.75 for cars at the year 2000 and go down .007 for every year older.

So a new NSX might be allowed 420hp at 1155kg, and an old 60s Corvette might be allowed 522hp at 1300kg instead of the regular 472hp.

2000-1963=37
37X.007=.259
2.75-.259=2.491
1300/2.491=522
This will help older cars stay in the running.

And older cars will be allowed better suspension, the NSX would only be allowed sports shocks whilst the Corvette will get a full racing setup.

If you want to enter, PM me before next Monday (16th).
After the deadline I'll pull the countries and drivetrain type, and then you will have until the 22nd to get times in.

(If you are late to the party you can still run, but it you will have less time to choose your car and tune it.)

Thanks to AMG for the track map.

Edit: Car regulations.

Any car that is not race modified, and or from tuner village.
Power:
2.75 for cars at the year 2000 and go down .007 for every year older.

Suspension:
Cars built before and at the year 1970 will get racing suspension.
Cars built at and in between 1971 and 1989 will get semi-racing suspension.
Cars built at and after 1990 will only get sports suspension.

Tires:
Sport hard tires are the only type allowed.

Misc:
No wings or NOS allowed.

Any other modifications are allowed.
(Copy pasted from Matejs 100km race.)
In order to participate go to Original Circuit / Apricot Hill (Reverse version) / Race Meeting (Track Meet in NTSC version). As soon as you start from a pit lane you will have one warm-up lap before timer starts counting your laps. After that, run 21 laps and, as soon as you complete the 21st lap (in other words, you will enter lap 22) exit the race and head straight to Save Replay option. Time shown there will be your submission via PM to Bopop4. You can submit as many times as you wish, and I'll count your best time.

You should keep two wheels on the track all the time (rumble strips are part of the track) and avoid collision with AI cars or walls as much as possible.

Wall-riding and any other cheat driving methods are forbidden.

This challenge will run only once so, as soon as we pronounce our winner, competitors will have no more obligations for this challenge.

Deadline for the submission is the 22nd of July, 2012.

Current entries:
Bopop4: FR/USA
shotamagee: MR/RR/USA
thc118: 4WD/Japan
Matej: 4WD/Japan
Vandenal: MR/RR/France/Italy

When you choose your car, post it and what the weight and power are.

Official Results
1. shotamagee 30'21.587 Ford GT Concept 2002, 527hp, 1451kg, p/w 2.753
2. tch118 30'28.520 Nissan GT-R Concept 2001, 500hp, 1376kg p.w 2.750
3. Bopop4 31'09.592 Chevrolet Corvette C5 2000 548hp 1282kg p/w 2.79
4. Matej 32'08.151 Mitsubishi Lancer EVO VI GSR 1999, 401hp, 1156kg, p/w 2.882

Agh, all of my careful spacing has gone to waste.

Congratulations to shotamagee and his Ford.
Thanks to everyone who participated and I think that there way be another, faster event coming up...

Hmmm...
Running it in reverse would be a good challenge of most people don't do that.
I'll definitely consider it.

Apologies for being somewhat off-topic, but what is this memory-card problem you refer to?

Have a scroll through Matej's 100km Deep Forest comp for more info.
It's quicker than trying to explain it (easier for me too).

Ah, okay, that's not a memory card issue though; it's a limitation of the replay system.

Only about 24 hours left before I will drawn car types.
(And for a twist we will use the reverse direction.)

Are we going to be given a certain car to use or just a type/time period from which we have to choose from.

I will pull from a big box of manes and cars, post the results, and then you will have 1 week from next Sunday. So pretty much 2 weeks, unless everyone entered can agree on an earlier date.

OK!

I made slips of paper with the following in them,
FR
MR/RR
4WD
And then I pulled a separately made pile of countries.
USA
Japan
UK
France/Italy
Sweden/Spain/South Korea/Netherlands/Australia (No Belgium because it only has a race car.)
Germany

I pulled the following combinations.

Bopop4: FR/USA
shotamagee: MR/RR/USA
thc118: 4WD/Japan
Matej: 4WD/Japan
Vandenal: MR/RR/France/Italy

People can still enter if they wish, but times a wasting.
And to those of you who already have their combos, good luck.

Wide range of cars for me; the DMC Delorean, Saleen S7, Ford GT, Ford GT Concept & the Acura's if they are considered American? (not a big deal as I'm probably going to use the GT Concept anyway)

EDIT: The choices are just as slim for Vandenal, I'm guessing he's probably off to the nearest Pagani dealership.

If it's in the USA section then it's fair game, even though Infiniti and Lexus should be Japanese, you could use them if you wanted.
I think that I might get a C2 Corvette...
I'll have to test the C2 and C5 against each other.

And lol, there is so many little scraps of paper over the desk.

Edit: Actually, I was glad to see that he got those countries after getting the MR/RR, lots of 205s, Renault 5s and such.

Cool, except only Acura out of those Japanses Imports (Acura,Lexus,Infiniti) have MR vehicles, so its a moot point for the other 2.

And yes getting FR or 4WD for France/Italy would be even more limiting than the MR/RR combo. (just those classic Alfa's for FR & the Pug 205 for 4WD unless I missed something)

Yeah, I figured an old Alfa would be ok, but 4WD would be a problem.
I would've figured something out, but it didn't have to come to that.

A Japanese 4WD?

Maybe the '89 GT-R for the better suspension.
Maybe one of the early Evo's or Imprezas.
Maybe a 4WD concept car.

It might just have to be the massive 3000GT, if it can handle the 600+ HP.

Can we use cars from a tuning shop ? Basically, they do not belong to Tuner Village shop although by judging the outer appearance they should. NISMO Skyline GT-R R-tune (R34) 1999 is a good example (available at Nismo shop). If it's allowed, I might think about it.

As long as it doesn't have downforce it should be ok, but make sure that it dosen't have semi-racing suspension already installed.

What about the GT-R Tokyo Concept?

Its drivetrain is listed as --, but it's clearly 4WD.
It must have a limited-slip, since only three tires spun.
I'm also really digging the 7-speed transmission.
