Best episode ever.
I once said on GTP that I'm not a fan of anything. But I can now honestly say that I'm a fan of Senna (I always was). |

That was incredible. Nothing silly, nothing over acted. Perfect. I even enjoyed SIARPC!

Didn't really care about the Veyron part, it looked so slow through the corners on the track, and it still sounds as boring as a rental car. Painting bits bright orange won't make it anymore attractive to my eyes.
Senna... wow. I've been left speechless. The music, the sequences, the commentary, all the drivers commenting... A masterpiece of a clip. |

This episode didn't do much for me. I don't know much about Senna as I was young when he died and I never really followed F1 (still don't). He is a great driver, the film demonstrates that and he seems like he was a great person off the track as well.
The other stuff didn't really do it for me. That Bugatti is hideous and I think I still find it the most pointless car on the road. The Toureg thing was kinda cool and Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz were fairly entertaining, so I guess it wasn't a complete wash. Next week's episode should be awesome though, I'm really looking forward to it. |

Probably the greatest episode ever. The bit on Senna was nothing short of perfect. I really liked how giddy Lewis got when he got to drive the MP4/4. It shows the kind of respect Senna got. I don't know much about Senna or the old days of F1, but you could easily tell he was much, much, much more than a Grand Prix driver.

Great episode there, eespecially the Senna part, although I was really expecting to see Bruno taking that McLaren out for a spin...

I thought that was an absolutly fantastic episode! The bit with the Toureg was fun. The news was entertaining. The Bugatti segment wasn't my favorite, but it was still good. At least they acknowledged the SSC. That's more than anyone else I've come across. The Star Car part was great. I loved the interview and lap. I'm usually bored with the SIARPC segments, but this one I enjoyed.
The Senna piece was masterful. I'll admit that I only started keeping up with Formula One this season, and I really don't know much about the drivers of decades passed. Infact, I can only name a hand full of drivers from Senna's era. But the film really showed that Senna was a terrific human being, both in the car and out. I thought it was noble of him when he stopped his car to help a fellow driver who crashed. I did like Hamilton testing out the old McLaren. I thought Lewis was a good fit since he is the current face of McLaren, just as Senna was when he drove for them. It was either him or Bruno, but Bruno isn't really up to par to be honest. If you make a Michael Schumacher tribute film, you wouldn't get Ralf to drive his old car. You would get Vettel or something. All and all, terrific episode!! |

Agree with almost everyone else here - first thought after watching was that it's probably the best episode they've ever done. Well judged humour, interesting features, great laps in the reasonably priced car, and a touching and chilling Senna tribute as good as any I've ever seen.

I can only add to the sentiments here. That was a stunning episode, end to end. Did not find one bit of it I didn't like, and was astounded at the Senna piece.....if they want to give away awards for best TV segment, this should be nominated!

Just saw the Reliant Robin feature from episode 1. Hilarious.

The Toureg bit in the ski resort was good fun but I wish they'd make more of an effort to make it look like an actual race, following the camera car (and at a steady distance) ruins the illusion they are going flat out.
Kudos getting access to the Veyron SS although an interview with the test driver would have been welcome as he comes across quite well in written interviews. Also very impressed with Bugatti/VW for allowing the car to be Stig tested on the track, obviously they knew it wouldn't embarrass itself. The Tom Cruise and Cameron Diaz interview was a bit cringe worthy but that seems to be what Clarkson does when a big celebrity comes on. Is it just me that doesn't believe they were both the fastest drivers? Neither of them were changing gear very well and going on the grass before the last corner isn't the fastest route even if you do cut the corner and nearly flip the car. All is forgiven though because the Senna film was fantastic, I was genuinely quite surprised they made such a moving and professional piece. It just goes to show that Clarkson is an intelligent and articulate man, it's a shame he doesn't behave like that more often. I would have liked to see Hamilton really push the MP4/4 and give some feedback on how much of a beast it was compared to modern F1 cars but I guess he wouldn't be very popular if he crashed a truly priceless piece of history. I grew up watching Senna racing in F1 and he was probably my first childhood hero. It was great seeing him in action again, I'll be watching the episode again and hunting down the Senna movie that's due out next year. |

I have to admit that I haven't seen any old footage from Formula 1 for a long time and after seeing those cars twitching and sliding about the place it made me remember just how exciting it used to be. Seeing Hamilton changing gear with a stick looked weird.

I think the amazing film about senna sort of brainwashed people. The race was fun but the veyron film was pretty much exactly the same as last time james maxed another veyron, quite boring the first time already imo :P Guests were fun and then the amazing senna film. It was one of the best films top gear has made imo, but otherwise the episode wasn't that special so I think it is a bit overrated actually ^^
