So, after watching probably 18 hours of the 24hrs of Daytona between broadcast coverage and internet streams, I'm really excited for the iRacing driver swaps and endurance races. Really going to be interesting and fun to see how it all works.

Same here! We have a great oportunity here on GTP to create some good teams due to having so many of us scaterred across so many time zones, this is gonna be awesome!

Before they announced driver swaps, I was the most excited about the Lotus 49. But now I'm anticipating driver swaps more than anything else in iRacing now.

I'm not sure what class the Lotus 49 will fall under, possibly class C since the Lotus 79 is in class B.
But it's also very possible due to the difficulty of handing the Lotus 49 without any downforce, it may fall into Class A. It will very likely be one of the most challenging cars to drive fast in iRacing. |

Hitting constant 1.02.xxx on lime rock with mazda. optimal is 1.01.xxx. I think more laps tonight, would love to hit sub 1 and I think I'd be set for the new Rookie series coming up! |

Fastest guys are running 57 sec laps, normally in the higher splits fast laps are in the 58-59sec range. Lower splits if you can average a 1:02 or so you'll win.

I think I can gain a few more seconds 1. Still only about 2 hours spent on lime rock..I got plenty more to go 2. I think in the short term with another hour or two I ca get 1.01 or 1.0.xxx (I haven't even really studied any videos on correct gears, brakes etc, been doing what feels natural) 3. Haven't even done a proper set up for the car, doing it on stock. A few more days until new season so can't wait until my first race on lime rock, going to take it slow! |

If I'm right on the edge thats the only time I will usually run on a time trial. Although I did run a TT once a week during my Grand Am season cause I wanted to take the the division title for it (in which I did)

does a TT increase your SR? Also i havent seen any TT sessions open all week. Theres Prac,Qual and Race rooms but TT always says "no sessions"

My bad you are correct there isn't any TTs running this week but there are Qualifying sessions. Go earn that easy SR and graduate to Class D
And yes TTs grant SR too. But its not nearly as good as Qualifying or Racing. |

Just put a few laps down with no incidents and it'll push you over to 3.00!

Jav, are you giving him/us the right idea of getting our of the rookie series? I have read a few comments and articles at other places and the idea is to get out of the rookie series fast but with a GOOD irating. There is no point getting out of rookie with a BAD irating because you will be put with other "bad" drivers with bad irating and your SR will hurt a lot. Blaze seems totally unsure of courses like Laguna and is really pushing hard to get out of rookie but at what cost? If he gets out with a bad irating, placed into a very bad split, his going to have a really bad season... I'd rather take it slow, get good SR + good irating, into a split that is around my skill level and have fun in D class instead of feeling still in the rookie series. Correct me if I am wrong Jav as you have been at iracing for longer. The focus on SR over irating is wrong. Should be equal.

In my 20 laps there ive only have one incident at the corkscrew. I dont wreck very often(seems i end up running into someone who wrecked in front of me). I think i've been really consistent because i focus on hitting my marks every corner lap after lap while nailing the racing line. I just ran a perfect 15 laps at Laguna Seca in the legends in qualy and got +.54 on the Sr so am now at 3.53.
So far in everything i've raced in i'd have to deal with idiots who blindly reverse onto the track after crashing and the usual T1 chaos even though i started from pits. I would like to start focusing on iRating so i can racer with others who are alot more consistent in a 20 lap race. Right now its more about dodging people. Question: i dont have an iRating yet....it just shows "--" for both iRating and TTrating |

I don't know what to think about the whole i-Racing rating deal and all the people who try to play it safe. I just started and I am having a blast as I learn to get better, sure I make a lot of mistakes and pay the price but that won't always be the case. I have led some races and then sh it happens but thats racing. I'll get it wired eventually and then I'll chain up a string of victories together and I hope that will fix my rating. I know that I won't always be a rooky squid in cyber land because I fly in the real world so it's just a matter of time.
I think that the more I play around on the little tracks w/ the little cars the online experience is better then GT5. The overall feel of the cars is more consistant and predictable then GT5 and even the worst drivers are better then the wild west show punters that you run into w/ the console platforms. Overall I'm quite happy w/ my 50 dollar investment for one year and by next Christmas I hope that I beyond the whole Rooky deal. |

Have you been doing well in your races? If your really slow and have been concentrating on lifting your SR I think (from what I have read) you will be placed in a poor split with drivers in your irating range. This is not good because poor irating drivers drive pretty much like a rookie. Theres a post in the iracing forums about it. Anyway, perhaps Jav or some of the other guys here could elaborate on that. I am taking it slow, I want to be placed in a good split with proper drivers around my skill level and not reckless thugs...I mean, whats the point on signing up to iracing if your racing against wreckers? irating is the goal for me. SR should come naturally with irating, and SR is so easy to gain with a few tt's or qualifers. irating is much harder to come by, only from good, pure racing (and winning). |
