Could this be the next generation Toyota Supra? No solid specs on this one I'm afraid.

Pictures from 'Best Car' magazine, Japan.

(Note 'Lexus' badging)

So, what do you think...?

Not one thing on it looks like the Supra of old... Which I think is a mistake.

It reminds me of the Honda JV-X concept of a few years back. I think the above concept is just a design exercise and I am guessing that the new Supra will use a couple of design cues from this car.

In my Humble but Accurate opinion, toyota has lost their ****ing mind. What the hell are they thinking? The toyota supra is one of the greatest supercars they have. Why wouldn't you make a new one that replicates the older versions? I don't get it. just my 2 cents.

Rumple and kazesupra:

The last Supra went from this:

to this:

The second one (4th-generation) did not resemble the first one (3rd-generation) in the slightest respects, and still most would agree it was the best.

Furthermore, the fourth generation Supra began production in 1993. You want them to take styling cues from a ten-year-old car when Toyota didn't even take styling cues from the 1995 Avalon when they redesigned it in 2000.

Finally, the car in the first post is what's called a concept. Every manufacturer releases or creates pictures that are going to be the "2007 whatever." With NO exceptions, that car is NEVER the 2007 whatever. This will be no different, nor will that NSX in the other thread. Trust me; I've seen it a million times.

Pffff.

Looks like the car in Minority Report. That was a Lexus, wasn't it? This is probably a movie design sketch or something. :P

lol, i wouldn't call that a good point, but its funny.

anyone else get the impression that japanese concept cars look really good on paper, then when they build them or show us the final versions they suck? whereas its the opposite with european + us concepts?

i know thats a sweeping statement, but this car shows that point, so does the skyline gtr concept (it looks good) whereas the planned new r35 looks bad. imo

Maybee being a concept car artist is just like any other line of work....you copy the guy next to you but turn yours in first

Although most cars end up looking nothing like their concepts so we will just have to wait.

Hell yes I want them to take cues from the MKIV Supra. Although....I'm sort of biased, since that's my dream car. But anyhow. I think if a car is going to be given the badge of the car, it should look like it a little. That's just my opinion.

I guess you're right, I'm thinking of all of the other cars that toyota, and the one that sticks out that was closest in design throughout the years was the Celica, and it wasn't that close. There's always a chance that the habit could change....

Interestingly short hood. Mid-engined, or maybe a V6/8?

If its a supra i dont beleive it. Plus pics may be pics. We posted a back and front pic right and they matched right? But is it a Supra. Thats what we need to know. But IMO A Supra would not change that much. From a 90's model to a 2050's model. I dunno what Im saying.
