Well I was just attempting to play my beloved GT3, I decided I was in for a new car and so I headed for the Car Showroom. I went to Nissan's showroom and choose to look at the skyline, the strange thing is the car model didn't appear so I went back and choose another car, it too didn't appear. I decided to try and go back to the main menu but when I tried to the game froze. Now I know it had a few scratches from being used so much but it always worked alright. I've taken it too a place that fixes scratched discs so hopefully she'll be like new and I can play again.

So I suggest you all take care of your discs more, I mean I'am usually paranoid about keeping my discs free of scratches so I guess when you play a game so much its bound to get scratched.

it could also be that ur ps2 got a dusty lense mate, my quake 3 werent working a while back and my ps2 was making strange clicking sounds so we took it 2 my mates friend who specialises in console servicing and stuff and he cleaned the lense and some other parts. result was that there were no clicking sounds and quake could run perfectly well. But as turbosmoke said "15 quid per copy"which is tuppence nowadyas

Most electronics stores sell scratch removal kits that only cost about $15, and are probably the same things these places that do scratch removal use. It'd be worth looking into one of those, it'll save you money in the long run.

Yeah. i need one of those scratch removal kits too. I got GT3 2 months after it came out. sometimes after completing a race it never finnishes loading I once completed this really hot drift session... and then the game basicly freezes while it was loading after i watched the replay

Those things have happened to me, too. I went to look at a car in the dealership, but the car didn't show up on the screen when I picked it. This has only happened once to me, though. I've also had the game fail to load a few times. It seems to me that Gran Turismo discs don't have as many glitches as other games.

You should try running your disk under some hot water then dry it with a clean, soft towel. My scratched-up disk is glitchy as hell when I first put it in, but after "heat treating" it, it runs perfectly. Or you could buy a scratch remover kit... those work good too. When using those, follow the scratch...

Nah the place where I took it too have a proper machine not one of those cheap kits you can buy. Its actually not that scratched, just quite marked from being played so much lol.

@turbosmoke - but its the principle of it being a GT game that makes me want to save it from being thrown out.

Hey Believe it or not, use toothpaste on the scratched disk, It has to be the white kind, not the blue gel kind. Rub some into the scratch with your finger, then wash it off with water, wipe an pop it in... this method worked for me when a certain level wasnt loading In project gotham racing for xbox. i used toothpaste and the level started loading again...oh one more thing, if the foil is scratched or peeling (the side of the disk that has print on it) then you will need a new GT3

I use the spit and wipe method..
Spit on it
then get a towel and wipe the spit 360 degrees around the cd..

Ive always had luck with that method

i got one of them lense cleaning disks. I have only ever had one disk get really scratched so bad it didn't work. It was demo, and my sister dropped it and attempted to catch it, but ended up giving it a mighty gash with one of her finger nails.

A new GT3 in Australia would cost me $50 which isn't that cheap so getting it repaired is worth a try seeing as its cheap to get it repaired.

@mustang lover - Yeah I've tried the toothpaste trick on other discs and it rarely works so that's why I didn't try it on my GT3 disc. Wouldn't it leave your discs minty fresh? lol

I can also attest to the fact that toothpaste works. It probably isn't the first thing that you would think would work for disk scratches, but it is one of the most effective ways.

No. Seriously, no. Toothpaste has all sorts of abrasives and such that clean your teeth, putting it on your CD's is a very bad idea. That's like trying to polish glass with a piece of steel wool.
