I play the game to drive cars I likely never will in real life. So, how they handle in the game in relation to real life is immaterial. I have nothing to compare it to personally. Since I won't take the word of someone else as to how well the game emulates how a car behaves, and have no empirical data myself to use, I'll be taking the word of the folks that have been coding car behavior for 15+ years. Not that I have much choice, unless I decide to sell all my belongings to buy rides in some of these cars.

From that perspective, every last car in GT is a fantasy car. It's a programmitically artistic interpretation of how that car behaves. It's entirely possible the guy who did the programming for any particular car's behavior, has never driven it either.

Didn't think any of the photos would be good enough for the banners lol

Yea lol, i hope youre alright with that mate.
Apart from some pictures were taken from the "shadow" side/angles, they looked a bit cloudy/grey but maybe it was just a matter of setting of time/weather
i made em more "pop out" in photoshop

That was a lot of fun tonight in D1! You guys were so good and made basically no mistakes, felt so silly when I made a few. That last race at Suzuka was so clean (at least at the front from my viewpoint), amazing job by LLOYDZ to come through the field to win. 👍

I did get repeatedly disconnected going into Spa qualy for some reason. It was really weird, at first when I went to run practice before qualy the car just drove itself, I had zero control. Then when they tried to start qualy my screen stayed black and I got kicked out. The host (I'm assuming) stopped the session so I could join, I again went out for practice before qualy and this time I had control of my car after it left the pits, but then then again when they tried to start qualy my screen went black and I was kicked out. First race went on without me, but I enjoyed watching, and I got to join the second race. Weird.

Anyway, just did a speedtest.net test to Key West, FL (I'm in Victoria, BC) and got a ping of 109ms. Then did pingtest.net and got a ping of 135ms to Tampa, FL, with a 7ms jitter.
New Policy for Sunday race nights.

If you get disconnected and are going to post about it, please run a speedtest.net and pingtest.net to the furthest corner of the continental US from you and post it as well. This is for research purposes.
OK, back to kicking more tires. :(

If anyone ever tells you that a car should have a Pre Purchase Inspection done by or a dealer, or a specialist, DO IT.

Just walked away from a car that sounded good but needed another 65% of purchase price in repairs....
What didn't you buy?

The driver's list has been updated to include new time trials submitted in the last couple of days. Those drivers have received their placement messages as well.

Next on the list for me is making some adjustments to the times that everything needs to be done on race night. This is going to be done to make it easier to get started on time. It will require that drivers stop trying to join rooms 1 or 2 minutes before race time and it will allow hosts to start at 9:30 ET instead of waiting for me to give an all clear at 9:30 ET.

After that, I will be working on updating the list of what is a race car and what isn't. The goal is to have all of this done today. The reality is that I have to clean the swimming pool today and play softball tonight so it may not all get done.

Edit: The host and driver responsibility post has been updated with some changes to the times. Please take a minute to read this and note the changes. Also note what has been there all along. I know there are some drivers and hosts out there that don't know what is in this post.

My understanding from reading and hearing quotes is that none of the cars are ever driven. They are all just numbers added to the psychics engine. So things like weight, aero, engine output, tire size, center of gravity are just plugged in and out it spits the results. Kaz also once said that programming in things like the Evo's active yaw was as simple as plugging in some values.

Now whether that creates an accurate model will depend on how good the physics model is. My biggest criticism of the psychics is that they do not get the subtle nuances of the cars such as steering feel and communication that in the real world can make a huge difference in whether the performance of the car is accessible.

Not that I am complaining. They keep getting better and better. Now if they would just give us more real cars I would be happy. Where is my E30 M3:(

Went to do a few laps in the new car and my Ps3 died. Gives me an error code, looked up the code and ya, you guessed it, kaput.I'm not gonna get it fixed. Here's the delemma, get another PS3 or bite the bullet and get the PS4?

This might help. The PS4 doesn't currently support SNAIL racing. If that means anything to you.

Where exactly are you Ronnie? Anywhere close to Whitby? You can get a refurbished PS3 for $79 with yours as an exchange at the MTC.

I just can't get past the very beginning of GT1 when they decided to use actual cars in the game. This is what the hook was for me. Especially opening our collectives garages to all the neat production cars available in other parts of the world but denied to us. So from the very beginning my reason for playing was the real life cars created in painstaking detail for me to sample ;)

No interest in cars that have never existed except on paper or as a one-off concept vehicle. I thinks a mental block I have. I don't own an F1 game or Nascar game etc...only GT.

Where do I find the the race info for this weekend and weekends to come (Cars, tracks, etc.)? I wanted to get in a bit of practice before the weekend so that I don't fall too far behind ;)

So far only two combos are confirmed and I'm sure @Xradkins is working on the last combo, after the three combos are confirmed, @zer05ive will make a post showing each combo and he'll update the front page with the details.

Ok thanks! Are all three combos confirmed and posted the same day of every week or just whenever they finish them?

I can see where you're coming from there. From here though, and this is just my personal perspective, I don't care to drive cars, in the game, I have the resources to drive for real.

There's currently not a GT title for the PS4. I don't think there's any car type title for PS4 yet. Did Drive Club get released yet?

Need For Speed Rivals was a launch game, is so-so, just an up-res'ed 'last-gen' game. Nothing special, and it's a NFS game, as in Arcade...

Pretty sure Drive Club is out
Drive club is not really classified as a driving simulator, like GT or iracing. More of a driving "MMO". However project CARS is scheduled for release in November last I checked. Definitely classified as a sim. It looks really really good. if it turns out to be as good as expected, I think it may blow GT out of the water, unless they really step up their game for GT7. Definitely a reason to look into picking up a PS4

New combos could be posted as early as Monday night(very unlikely) to as late as Thursday evening before official practice .. Just whenever the prize winners are cleared and when they make their selections.

There is always one carry over combo from week to week and we know that one Monday night(most of the time) when @zer05ive posts the results
