Call of Duty: Advanced Warfare (because you can't get any more modern)

All depends how the story is written & how intriguing it is. There is no unique story out there anymore, whether it's books, games, or movies. The key is how the writers take a basic plot & develop it. Obviously, the game is going to revolt around you saving the world or throwing a twist in it & you dying. The question is how interesting are they going to make it? I liked MW1-3 & the plot twists they introduced through it as well as the controversy they created; no game really took the balls to have you as an American operative going undercover to get good with the enemy, committing a terrorist act on an airport, and then being left for dead to take the blame because the enemy knew who you were the entire time. Is it a new idea? No. Was a unique & crazy approach to it? Absolutely considering all the publicity they got for it. I even enjoyed the original story for Black Ops where everything was really one big twist & Reznov had "re-programmed" Mason to actually kill Dragovich, & had died several years prior. I never played Black Ops II, but I understand it tried to tie the story into it, which I think was unnecessary since the first hinted that you may or may not have killed Kennedy. I briefly looked up the story for Ghosts & that was far too cliche for a father & his sons to save the world with the father of course dying by the hands of his former best friend.
I've only ever played COD4: Modern Warefare so thanks for the spoilers. I don't have the urge to even play them out of curiosity now. :)

What are other synonyms of 'modern' and 'advance'... oh I know! Future! Call of Duty: Future Soldier! But I think that's already taken... :indiff:

Also, that cliche man, that VTOL!

Why don't they introduce a proper cover system like the MOH games, and the ability to toggle between different firing modes and scopes? The MOH games have excellent gameplay mechanics. Maybe its time COD followed suit.

A role-playing element (ala Mass Effect) in the game would be super - something which influences the outcome of each mission and the ending.

Come on Activision, get off your yearly release laurels already!

They did that in black Ops 2 and it made no sense whatsoever, apart from making the story even more stupid.

And the cover system in MOH was at some degree broken, you could slide into cover from a certain distance and basically be already in cover 2-3 before the wall, making a cover based mechanic like in COD broken.

From the E3 footage, this looks like Titanfall 2 or Crysis. :grumpy:

I got a real Killzone vibe from it, either way it didn't look all that interesting either from a graphics or gameplay point of view.

Let me take a wild guess, the PS4 version will have framerate issues.

Is anyone taking Call of Duty seriously anymore because it's getting worse every release and the multiplayer is saturated with kids. Just recently today I came across some kid who constantly made noises and was damn annoying.

Welcome to the internet, any popular multiplayer game will have annoying children playing. Since CoD is the most popular multiplayer FPS, you're more likely to run into kids there than any other FPS.

As for PS4 framerate issues, I'd actually be surprised if that was the case. Ghosts can be forgiven since it released on brand new consoles, now that they've been out a year I expect the issue to be fixed.

Are you basing this off of the frame rate issues in Ghosts on the PS4? That wasn't because the PS4 wasn't powerful enough, it was because it was too powerful. According to Eurogamer, Ghosts runs at a higher FPS than the PS4 can handle, and it ends up looking like it drops frames.

Source.

WHAT?! There are frame rate drops on the PS4 in a COD game???

Man.. this is bizarre. Isn't it supposed to be the most powerful current gen console?

Gave up on this series after WAW. WAW is still my favorite of the series and the last COD I purchased. Also the ONLY COD I own.WAW had tanks and 4 player co-op campaign plus the introduction to the 4 player co-op zombies. Last COD I rented was I think Black Ops.

I just prefer games with larger scale battles with land and air vehicles we can control like the BF and Halo series. Even Titanfall and Destiny have vehicles we can enter and control ourselves. That is just what I prefer.

All the pre modern warfare COD games were brilliant i think. Visually they looked better too.

Both the Black Ops games are good.

Among MW, I think the first one is the probably the only one that's good although the second one was an OK event. The Gulag and that level at the Favelas was really interesting. MW3 pretty much killed it. It was kinda retarded.

COD Ghosts was OK, nothing special. I don't know where the series is headed. It used to be a lot of fun.

However, I would have to say ALL the SP campaigns in every single COD game is far better than Battlefield's SP experiences. BF2 is somewhat of an exception.

Well, the PS4 is easier for developers to make games for it now but the Xbox One version had better framerate.

I bought Black Ops 1 and 2 just for the zombies mode, I rarely play online multiplayer as there are annoying kids.

Oh, I forgot. Thanks.

Ever since I played bf4 last year I haven't thought about getting ghosts having a lot of fun. Hopefully Advanced warfare can get things right and change my mind about going back to the series. If not Destiny and planetside 2 it is

It still doesn't make complete sense... shouldn't multiplat games on the PS4 have higher frame rates, since it is more powerful, and as you say now it's more programmer friendly?

BF4's shooting mechanics are top notch I'll give it that much. Though I don't particularly enjoy the screen tearing as I'm on the X360. Really hope I can experience BF someday on a console running 60 fps. PC gaming has me rotten to the core!

The PS4 version actually went higher then 60 fps thus making it look like it was having framerate issues.

^^ Strange. Don't ever remember that happening on a PC. What does this anomaly look like exactly? Kind of like screen tearing? In PC games, if you leave V-sync off, you get higher frame rates, but screen tearing.

I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by some of these gameplay videos, the last COD I bought was BO1 and after seeing the dodgy animations on Spacey's face I wasn't expecting much.

Anyone know if there will be non-exo suit gamemodes?

I saw a rumor (Though it did get everything that was revealed in the MP reveal correct) that says there will be a non exo suit gamemode/playlist (I'm not 100% sure and I saw the rumor a few days ago on reddit but can't find it).

I saw the reveal for this game earlier, and I am a little disillusioned by the idea of this latest game. I have been a fan from day one, and well, I do not know any more. More and more and with each successive release, CoD has felt like a game chock full of gimmicks. They need to concentrate more on the core gameplay, ie. shooting.

I was a big fan of the MR28 in Ghosts, I could guarantee a kill with one or two rounds tops, then they nerfed it, and made the third round a little bit dodgy. Sometimes you got the kill with two, other times it was three. To be sure you had to fire three, but that last round played havoc with the accuracy. I swear, I would be close to 50% with that gun, but I have to settle for 35%. I have always been a fan of burst-fire, or semi-auto rifle, but CoD does not reward hardscoped accuracy, but if you are an auto-aim sniper...

The other gripe I have is that each installment of the game has made it increasingly more and more difficult to be a scavenger ghost. MW2 was the high-point in the franchise for me, and the scavenger ghost class was my ultimate weapon. Armed with a famas, or a FAL, fully ghosted up with iron sights, on hardcore, sneaking around on Wilderness, that was heaven. Since then they have made it increasingly more difficult to achieve that kind of perfection. If you want to reload whilst running, or even shoot whilst running now, they make it easier and easier. Perhaps I have become tired of the CoD gameplay... :indiff:
