Hum, that's interesting. Then again, the 2X rivals the X2014 Standard in terms of power and perfomances, so the key difference lies in the handling.

You were saying it "sounds mental". How is the sound, exactly? Does it have the "ticking noise" people mentioned?

Yeah. It has a weird ticking noise, from the engine bouncing off of the revs. Might have been another display so maybe I'm wrong about the sound :s

Actually, it sounds accurate enough, from the little you can hear of the 2X in its final presentation trailer. A faint ticking noise can be heard at the end of the video (when the two 2Xs cross the finish line at Le Mans). It can't be a fake noise, mainly because PD don't have any sound samples from other laser-powered cars, if you know what I mean... ;)

The 2X will almost certainly use their new sound method; it's perfectly adaptable for that with some custom scripting and control.

Considering what they did with the Subaru Viziv, it's obvious that from now on most if not all future VGTs will act as "practice dummies" for the new sound method. Maybe they're glimpses of the future sounds of GT7, who knows?

Well, no other VGT cars used it, and that was after the 97T and RT3 were the first non Red Bull cars to use it - the Subaru did bring a change in the method, though, as did the 97T (the RT3 uses the Junior's settings), so we'll see.

Either there'll be a big change in the method to make it work on PS3 with the presets intended for PS4, or we'll continue to get dribs and drabs of the ones they've expressly taken time to refactor to work in the limited scope currently available on PS3.

Then I'd like you to drive the stock Pagani Zonda C12 S.

Because this car has been like so since the start, an astonishing sound.

It uses samples. :)
It sounded like that in GT5, too. But not GT3 or 4.

Let's not confuse the issue; only those cars I mentioned use AES. Just because a car sounds subjectively "good" doesn't tell you anything about the underlying method, unless you specifically listen for it.

Oh man....can't wait!

And while we're at it, lets have the C7.R Vette soon. Haven't had a "real world" racing Vette since the C5.R.
Yeah we have a lot of GM cars but no Corvette C6R. I know we have the Z06 LM but its not the same. I want to see that Corvette Racing livery on my Corvette, with Compuware on the back.

I guess being a sound especialist such as yourself helps with that process, after you seem to know your vocabulary regarding sound methods... :)

I'd bet more on the second guess; PD tinkers with the sounds here and there, but leaves the big change for the better (in their words) hardware which is the PS4. I do hope we see more minor changes, in the least allowing the player to get an idea whether their methods are the right ones or not.

Should I splurge my cash on a Zonda, then? From what you said, it sounds brilliant.

i think you mean ZR1 LM, the racing upgrade model from GT5 of the ZR1, which in GT6 is just a standalone car. Random point about that car, i love its sound. you can just hear the grumble and high torque.

There are LM versions of both the Z06 and ZR1 in the game but I believe the point is we don't have the "real" C6R (or the C7R for that matter).

Well in that case, the Lexus LFA, Lamborghini Gallardo, & Corvette C2 have it.

Yes, you'd have a vital piece missing from the game if you didn't.

Leave the exhaust stock or I will... do things. >:~)

I just wish i knew the date of this as i might have a sight issue coming up, i will go offline soon for a few days and do not want to miss this car

No need to worry, I was so curious I bought not one, but BOTH Zonda C12Ss! Cost me a bit, but it was worth it. The sound is good, I just thought it would be a bit louder. Or maybe I'm just spewing nonsense, who knows...

No need to... do things, I did not change the exhaust, sir. :scared: Besides, more power in a Zonda is not safe, it is a godforsaken death warrant. :nervous:

Not really sure what you mean. At the risk of taking this off topic, the only cars using AES for certain are the X2010, X2011, X2014 trio, 97T, RT3 - it's also very likely the Subaru does, too.

It's certain because those are the only cars with AES files; a new file was added for 1.14. Everything else uses samples.

I must admit, I sound like a pineapple because I hjave no idea what AES even is.

Guuuud.

I wonder what the "cockpit view" will look like since the instrument displays of the car are directly projected inside the driver's helmet visor for the Chaparral 2X. Hopefully not a simplified interior like a typical VGT.

I got to play it today at the LA Auto Show, it doesn't have a simplified interior but the 3 sections on the dash just show the rear view, no data were displayed on them, like as shown in the video.

I thought there would be very little to see as well.
But the video show this.

So perhaps my guess is wrong.
Whether that image is relative to in-game, or simply something for the promo video we'll have to wait and see.

One other thing that stands out to me as different, is the heavy Michelin logo on the tyres.
I know they used Yokohama for modeling, but I can't recall seeing a tyre manufacturers logo on any tyres before.
Could be wrong on that one.
I can vaguely recall seeing some sort of variation when changing wheels, but not sure if that was tyre manufacture logos or not.

*edit*
It seems mrnascar has already been there done that. :)

This is what can be seen on the dashboard, just three rear-view cameras

EDIT: I was also able to get it to 292 MPH, it could have easily gone faster but it was topping out, red-lining. I also couldn't test the handling because they wouldn't let me go anywhere but Route X, even though they had LaSarthe on the version of the game.

Just look at your pelvis and you'll know what it'll look like.

That's what I'm saying. I had the Z06 and ZR1 LM's (Before my GT6 decided not to work on my PS3) but it would be much better to atleast have the Corvette Racing livery put on the Z06 or ZR1 LM.

Some cars have tyre manufacturers names on the tires/tyres. The Ford GT LM cars do, as well as some older premium muscle cars, especially if they are a racing version. There may be others but that's what I know.

And there is no data on the "windshield" (if we can call it that)? I was at least expecting some sort of system like the one you find on BMW M5's and the newer 'Vette ZR1. It seems that if it has a fixed roof PD will not do a proper interior with gauges for a VGT car, lest there cannot be a roof in the first place...

LOL then I suppose all the cars I mentioned do have advanced engine sounds :P

I hope the lol and smiley mean your mucking about? As it's very obvious which cars use the new physics driven method. The off throttle stroke is interactive compared to the sampled cars, but the present bare bones sound is so unique in comparison, you only need ears.

Zonda, LFA, HSV et al just use the last and best iteration of the sample method, before they turned their attention to the new. As it looks like (currently without intake sound) it can work.

I believe at least most if not all of the race cars have manufacterer logos on the tires and some road cars can have them depending on the Kind of tire you put on them.
