Guard rails are not supposed to stop the vehicle from going through, though they can at low impact. They are designed to break and wrap on the vehicle, slowing it down. They are more for protecting the driver from a sudden, high-speed impact into something on the other side than they are about keeping the vehicle on the road. If they were designed to prevent the vehicle from going through, and stopping it immediately, it would be dangerous for those in the vehicle.Wooden beams holding the Armco up...?
