Since day 1, as i make my very slow progression through the game in Career/GT Life mode, i have been recorded every single car from the Used car lot.

I now have roughly 200 car listed from the updated Used car lot.

Interesting :D I have another thread in which I started tracking used cars but, despite my data being consistent across several accounts and PS3s, it turned out others didn't necessarily share my list. Do you happen to still have the first 30 (day 1's list) in dealer acquire order so I can compare to mine? I have several theories I'd like to test :D

I do ;) how do you want me to share / send them? (the first initial 30 cars)

EDIT: here is a copy paste from my Excel sheet with (tabbed)

Excellent. Is that reading down one column then down the next, or row 1, then row 2 (etc)?

Do you happen to still have the first 30 (day 1's list) in dealer acquire order so I can compare to mine?

Since I hadn't posted any of mine in your other thread (up to day 80 now, 504 cars) I'll add mine in here as well:

I have boot the game on a second profile to see Used Cars list in day one, then deleted the save file, then boot the game again, and repeated this several times : always the same first cars. But not the same as the one listed here

My guess is that the game create a pattern based on info from your acount. (like the PSNid)

I saw many cars (several hundreds different models), but can't buy many of them yet. Frustrating.

Also, did you find an ingame menu where you can see the current internal day ? (not irl date, the incremented-by-race value as in every Gran Turismo game)

Not in-game, but if you exit to the XMB then go to PS3 Saved Data, your GT5 save file shows the number of game days played.

It's not the account, it's the PS3. I'd assume PS3s have an identifier which the disc generates a code from and that code determines your start list.

Since the cars arrive in blocks of six, I'm keeping my eyes peeled for any blocks that arrive on my list that also appear as the same block on someone else's. Several people have contacted me to say they're working on similar and I think we might have to have an off-site data exchange conference call before long

I didnt get your question until now! But to answer you: my list list the first car on the top left corner, then goes to the right, then down.
So i guess it's in order of Rows from top to bottow ;)

Sorry for the late answer.

Mon chere, You have too much time to kill,

What if you change your PSN account info to another date etc... i think you would get different first used car parking lot.

I wish they show that information in the game in a more accessible way :guilty:

Yes, i was looking for a way to not having to quit the game too often.

I guys just saw the tank car of jay leno in the used car dealer. almost 4 million
Got it twice in my records. And found 5 cars more expensive than the Tank among used cars (one cost nearly 15 000 000 !)

Another thing...
In A/B-spec events, there are championship with 5 races that would renew 100% of used cars, so if you look for a car, visit Used Cars before starting the championship.

I've also been doing little edits - post 1 file updated (though not the one on my site, since my wife has stolen the laptop with my FTP password on  ). 353 cars including all the Stealth cars and the XJ13 Chromeline. More Chromelines to come.

Here are my starting cars. I tried a different account too, one that was registered independently but on the same system and what do you know,...same starting cars.

(ordered left to right, top down).

I'm also wondering how random these patterns are. Could there be more driving them than the hardware? It crossed my mind that the generation of available cars may be related to the a-spec level for one.

No, my list progresses the same by hopping in and out of licence tests as it does actually playing (A9, B2 right now, compared to A0, B0 - same list).

Great work Famine. Congratulations.

Some tips: I noticed that the Daihatsu OFC-1 Concept '07 is classified both as N (new) and W (win). As it is the only one in this situation... I wonder if this is right...?

...and if it is wrong... as the 3 classifications (N, U and W) are mutually exclusive, why have 3 separate columns ? With just one column it would be easier to use filters or "queries" on your Excel DB.

By the way, I specified 24 "custom views" on Excel (one for each level) that allows users to see the cars ordered by PWR, one level at a time. F.i. to see the top cars in this aspect in order to choose the best one for each level (as you did on the second worksheet but just for level 0).

Without wanting to seem paternalistic (as I don't know if you need tips about Excel), feel free to ask anything, if you want to. I would be happy to collaborate on your work.

The OFC is available new from the dealership and as a prize car for the B-Licence, so it isn't an error - just the only car I'd won at that point that was also available elsewhere. Hence the three (now four) separate columns - I'd guess you're viewing the one linked from my site rather than the one attached to the post, since the attached one has since been updated but the linked one has not.

I've done this before (check the GT4 forum). I just supply the raw data and people can play around with it afterward to whatever format they wish - it forms a basis for whatever anyone else wants to do with it, rather than constraining them to a format I dictate. You do what works best for you - it's community information.

You are right. There are 4 columns now. My mistake. (anyhow, just a thought, you still could use just one column, this car being classified as, say... NW)
And yes, I'm playing around with custom views (without formating anything; the DB stays exactly as you built it)
Thanks to you (and my views) I can now easily find the right car to choose for each level.
Keep on the good work Famine.

:) Unfortunatelly... not on the World Cup... (sorry for the off-topic comments)

Then I'd end up with a Daihatsu only capable of going Northwest...

The NUWD columns (and the game versions columsn) are actually based on another project I was doing but haven't got around to caring about to complete. I find them useful while I'm working on the list too - particularly as sometimes the prize cars can be subtlely different from the purchaseable ones. Maybe I'll unify them for the finished product - but we're a way off that just yet.

 Not very useful, I agree.

Folks,
an example of the view of the best Level 1 cars to buy (using current data on Famine's DB):

Quick question. Does the game treat cars with different regional names, i.e. MX5/Miata/Eunos, as seperate cars? So a Miata 1800 is different to an MX5 1800 or whatever? Just wondering for when I properly start collecting.

I don't have my notes with me right now, but I'm sure there are others. BMW Concept 1 is an other exemple, i ended with two of them in my garage. (and actually did not even drive one)

Yep.

Hence "to that point", since I'd only finished the B-licence to that point.

I was just giving the info :)

About Used Cars, I tracked 1100+ entries, not all consecutively unfortunately (that around 50% of used cars my game have listed in total), but by group of six at least, and i have yet to find a repeating pattern (i compared cars surrounding a bunch of given repeated cars).

I'm not surprised - you'll need at least ten times that amount to account for all the regional variations and colour combinations.

I'm not surprised - you'll need at least ten times that amount to account for all the regional variations and colour combinations.

What do you mean by "regional variations" ?

About colors, it seems to be random among a very limited choice. Many, if not most, of the cars i saw more than once where of the same color.

As i'm writing this message, i see a Bugatti Veyron at 2 000 000 Cr and 0 as mileage. Not a used car for me, just a Standard they put in Used Cars...

I assume you're aware of the different names for things like the MX-5 (Miata/Roadster), Clio (Lutecia), Hyundai Coupe (Tiburon/Tuscani) and suchlike?

It seems that whomever assembled the used car list has simply copied the GT4 PAL car list, the GT4 NTSC-J car list and the GT4 NTSC-UC car list (less those cars that didn't make it) plus the extras from GTPSP. Thus any car that has just one name in all the versions will appear three times during what I assume to be the "cycle", compared to once each for the models of MX-5, Miata and Roadster.

The list I downloaded from the alternative link contains 289 cars. 291 is the last row.

I tried to open the file from the original link in Excel, but the file in the zip has no suffix. Did you forget to save it as an Excel-file?

Looks like it is only Open Office format now, or something like that.

Thanks for the list by the way. Really appreciate it.

You're assuming GT5 works like previous GT games. It does not.
Allow me to show you something, with that preset filter i made for you :
http://www.mygranturismo.net/carlist.php?set=825,829&start=0
Cars with the value "1" in "Verif(ied)" right column have data pulled directly from my GT5 with only one language setting (french, as it gives me the higher value for power, the best to calculate other units).

Having GT5's data for both cars is a confirmation that GT5 considers different region versions of a same car as given cars. So the 1031 car list given by Sony is likely conform to the game (leaving aside secret bonus, chrome line, ...). The bad news is that Sony cheated, in a way. The good news is that everybody on the (GT)Planet share the same ingame car list

Which is exactly the same as GTPSP. And confirms exactly what I said above... And that's why there's three times as many cars in the used car list that had just one name across the regions in GT4 as there are cars which had a different name in each region.
