I'd quite like to see the 70's Opel GT car. saw a one at the Solitude revival event. They look so sweet and the engine hard worked but nice and noisey.

And the question comes up again: Why not?

Especially if this is in (It's a Vauxhall though)

The XVR.

Not at the moment.

There are no sales statistics out yet?

this is true love for opel!!
this guy is crazy!!
the most clean corsa ever!!
Flaco take a look the love and the parts!!

The guy is sick :), thanks for that. Interesting stuff there!

The VXR.

Vauxhall's are always welcome.
If we would ever get to see more Opel and Vauxhall in GT I just hope they seperate those that only exist(ed) by each brand. Like a Firenza = Vauxhall only - a Manta "A" (Mk1) = Opel only (Manta B is Cavalier Coupe) and basically anything pre '75. Not another none-existend "Super Touring Car", both the Calibra and Astra DTM badged as Vauxhall's are an insult to any fan of either Opel or Vauxhall.

edit: since Kaz is currently doing a trip through europe visiting Manufacturers HQ's (see thread "Kazunori Yamauchi tweets") but apparently skipping Rüsselsheim (Opel HQ) my hopes are decreasing. Although these visits do not necessarly mean anything related to future content, it is somehow dissapointing.
Opel rep's keep playing the unknowing, trust me... I ask them frequently about it.

Yeah, non-existent imaginary Vauxhall DTM cars wasn't their finest hour but if I have to nominate one classic Opel the most obvious candidate would be the GT (and not because of its name), even though personally I'd love a V8-engined Diplomat, a Commodore GS/E or even the first-generation Manta.

There's so much wrong with this picture though.....

Thanks for that - I was gonna say, "You left out the GT!" I was lucky enough to buy a '72 GT 1900 when I was in high school in '78. Sweet car. I nearly bought the same car - not one like it, but the exact same car - from a later owner in 2007, but just couldn't pull the trigger.

Ouch, do you regret you didn´t do it?

Not terribly - I was about 6'1" in 1978, and fit the car quite nicely. I hit a growth spurt not long afte that, topping out at over 6'8" tall, and last time I tried to get in the car, it really wasn't working out - my head was jammed against the headliner at about a 45-degree angle! :)

They're still quite a decent-looking car, and the handling wasn't bad for the times (especially when compared to most Detroit iron of the era), but time marches on, and my old Honda CRX would easily out-handle the Opel, despite being a front-driver.

^ Ha ha yes, unfortunately, tall persons and an Opel GT is not exactly the best combination. I believe to remember Walter Röhrl mentioning something similiar (Not sure it was about the GT or the Lancia Stratos.).

v I revive a few Gran Turismo2 screenshots, personaly I would love to drive those again in
Gran Turismo. I don't care if there is a 5 or a 6 in the title.

Oh YES.

The current Opel models in the game are so pathetic. They should definitely do something about it.
I would be pleased to see some good classics, and oh well..a few from the new line-up for the usual and known advertising reasons of the gaming industry.

In my opinion, possible Classics would be:

Ascona 400
Manta 400
Manta A
Tigra Ice Race car
BTCC Vectras
DTM Calibras (1993 to 1996)
DTM Omega
DTM Astra V8
Astra F GSi 16v
Kadett E GSi 16v
Calibra Turbo & V6
Omega 3.000 GSi
OPC Extreme Astra

then the new ones, whole OPC line would be fine.
I don't expect to see any more cars than the ones i mentioned above....as there are many manufactures missing their best Iconic cars.

And if these are Premium, then...woooohooooo!

PS: From the current ones, Calibra 94' DTM is still not very good made. Windscreen area is so wrong, so does the rear end lol. The car is still the same as it was in GT2.

^^Thank you JoestDTM, couldn´t agree more, and welcome to GTPlanet!

(they start speaking english at 0:10) at 1:30, GM invests 4 billion Euros! :dopey:

they should implement more every day cars as well as vauxhall/opel.. I know its gt, but gets boring after awhile driving super cars and super muscle cars, not enough competition for slower cars.

Of course Opel should have a go at GT6. Numerous good times with the Tigra in GT3. And with a lot of "cool" new models, and of course the good old Manta, Opel should deff make an appearance in GT6. Wouldn't be the same without it. Since Opel always has been in the GT series.

Sorta off topic: I kinda also hope for more Volvos, and more Nissan Primeras / Infiniti G20s. Since GT1 and GT2 had both P10 and P11, and GT4/GT5 had P10 and P12, why not add them all this time, including the P11-144! And all premium.

EDIT: I own a P11-144 that's kinda why I want it so bad. (A)

Of course Opel should be in! All GSi (and more recently OPC) models manufactured over the years and the Tigra 1.6 (A), at the very least.
And what about the Calibra? It was such an iconic and innovative car in the '90s.
I think PD would most likely include only newer models, though.

All those "slow" cars is the soul of Gran Turismo...
If you boring with those cars join me in a race with 430 pp sport hard all off with my little tigra 1.6 in Green Hell to watch me go around the ring in 8:15min..
You change you mind!! ;)

I'm not really sure what the question here is. Opel is already in the game. I have driven many laps around the ring in the Astra touring car so it would be hard to add what is already there.

If the question is should there be more Opels in the game then yes I would not mind seeing a few more but there are other cars I would rather see.

You should have read the poll question first:
Opel as a new Premium Manufacturer?

Although the creator of this thread could have chosen a better title.

Yeah of course they should!

Theres loads of great Opels/Vauxhalls! (Coming from a Ford fan too!)

1975 Vauxhall Viva GT
1982 Vauxhall Chevette HS (imagine racing this against a MK1 Golf GTI/Escort RS Turbo or Sunbeam Lotus!)
1985 Opel Manta GTE
1991 Vauxhall Lotus Carlton
1994 Vauxhall/Opel Calibra Turbo
2003 Vauxhall/Opel VX220/Speedster Turbo
2004 Vuaxhall Monaro VXR
2005 Vauxhall/Opel Astra VXR/OPC
2006 Vauxhall/Opel VXR220/Speedster OPC
2008 Vauxhall/Opel Vectra VXR/OPC
2008 Vauxhall/Opel Corsa VXR/OPC
2008 Vauxhall VXR8
2010 Vauxhall/Opel Insignia VXR/OPC
2012 Vauxhall/Opel Astra VXR/OPC

Well it started out when the Scion was announced and we were wondering on how PD would make the change from a standard only brand into a premium one.

The original title then was : Should Opel make it to the NCD, hence if people would like to see new (to the game) model(s) coming as DLC just like the Scion FR-S.

I just changed the title replacing NCD with GT6 and moved the whole thread into the GT6 section, because since the announcement it is unlikely GT5 will see any changes in that regard.

If the title is somewhat misleading I´ll try and update it, I think the Poll will stay as is, I haven´t found a way to change or delete it. If there is a way to do it I´d be thankfull for any advices.

...but there are other cars I would rather see.

Well general wishlist threads are all over gtplanet, this one is dedicated to a single Manufacturer! (And its "relatives" Vauxhall; Holden)

👍

edit: Usually you get some kind of an answer from them, oddly though, not when asking about videogames...

Yes please! I would definately like to see more Opel, Vauxhall, Holden and Brazilian Chevrolet cars too (a lot of which were local slightly different versions of the Opels, like the Opala/Rekord).

I wouldn't need anything else if even any of these made it to GT6:

Opel Ascona 400

Opel Manta 400

Opel Kadett gsi with that legendary c20xe redtop engine
