Surely saying lol defeats the point then? It means laugh out loud, yet you said that you say it when you wouldn't laugh out loud?

I'm not sure I've ever rolled on the floor laughing either.

I might try using QIS - Quiet Inner Smirk or RCOTB - Restrained Chuckle On The Bus.

When people say confusing/stupid things, I'll say "lul wat?" My wat is mildly infamous with people that know me now

So do I, but only when I'm talking with my brother, who knows about these things.

But I think "hashtag" is not the same. I don't get why is it used in the first place in a real conversation. At least "wat" is funny when I hear it.
