Get Your Car in Gran Turismo: 12th Annual GT Awards Announced for SEMA 2014

It’s that time of year again! The 12th annual Gran Turismo Awards have been formally announced, and will be held next week at SEMA 2014 – the largest international automotive trade show in Las Vegas, Nevada.

SEMA hosts the world’s top custom cars and tuning companies, and each year, Gran Turismo creator Kazunori Yamauchi personally tours the show to select his favorites in the following categories: “Hot Rod”, “SUV”, “European”, “Domestic”, and “Asian”. Among these finalists, he picks a “Best in Show” car to be featured in a future Gran Turismo game.

The GT Awards have brought us some of the most interesting cars in the series, including Art Morrison’s 1960 Corvette, GT4′s 1964 Buick Special, the 1970 Mustang “Trans Cammer”, and Mary Pozzi’s 1971 Chevrolet Camaro.

Any car presented at SEMA 2014 is eligible for the GT Awards – if you or someone you know qualifies, fill out this form to submit your car for consideration before Monday, November 3rd. The winner will be announced during the GT Awards party on Wednesday, November 5th, at Drai’s Nightclub, located at the Cromwell Resort & Casino on the Las Vegas strip.

The stakes are high for both car owners and Gran Turismo players, and GTPlanet will be on-hand to cover all the news from the event. Stay tuned!

“Remember that SEMA award show you won 20 years ago? PD just announced the car modeling is finished and it might be coming to a GT game soon!”

Realistically here, none of us on the forum will ever have our car win and appear in Gran Turismo.

Those are custom cars that have $100K + dropped into them.

I know guys that can build monster cars, I can build some fairly impressive ones myself. We’re not in the same league as the Trans Cammer. Those are show cars, not race cars.

Most of the guys I know building race cars (some amateur some professional) don’t build anything pretty enough to compete with the previous winners. They build their cars to go fast. This is just a PR stunt for PD.

From what I’ve seen so far it might be the Rocket Bunny NSX or the yellow FRS from the scion tuner challenge. Saw some nice Porsche’s but…well…-sad face-

Thanks but as I own a 2008 Civic Type R my car is already in the game ;)

Well sort of, since mine is a hatch not a saloon lol.

I just wish they’d release the 2012 and 2013 winners. However I’m still intrigued on the outcome of this year’s event.

I was about to ask how many winners we are still missing ingame… Seems that schedules are hard to make them digital. C`mon PD, 2 years? Really?

I thought it was interesting looking at the official partners for the event. We already see Rays and KW having involvement with GT and PD. Is it possible that Brembo, Sparco, G-Ready and Snap-on are next and seen in further updates or GT7 as tuning options ect. The other thing if that is the case is Pirelli, now we know Yokohama have been involved already but the recent partnership between FIA and Pirelli being announced and the annoucement a while back about the collaboration between PD and FIA makes this poster interesting. Nothing is set in concrete and maybe I am speculating a little too much but to me it’s food for thought.

They’re simply partners for the event. They’ve got no correlation with each other. As an analogy, think of it like this:
Just because McDonalds and Visa both sponsor the Olympic games doesn’t mean there’ll be a hamburger made of credit cards anytime soon. just saying.

I have a Saturn SC-1 that’s been converted into a race car for Saturday night banger racing. That’s sure to win the award. Look out AEM, TeamCZRRacing’s coming over with his scratched-up old Saturn!

And when do we get the other cars which have been given awards by Kaz and GT/PD over the last couple of years?
