GT6 Goodwood Course Update Announced for June 26th

goodwood-gt6-21

Britain’s famous Goodwood Festival of Speed is featured prominently in Gran Turismo 6, and the game was a fixture at last year’s show.

goodwood-gt6-24This year, it seems the partnership is expected to continue, as Goodwood has made a special announcement to note the in-game track will be updated to include the 2014 “Central Feature” highlighting “120 Years of Mercedes Motorsport”.

The new “central feature” will be revealed simultaneously in both the real world and GT6 through a game software update set for June 26, 2014, at 10pm local UK time.

This will likely remove the Lotus sculpture which is currently featured in GT6’s rendition of the hill climb course. Thanks to Furinkazen for the tip!

I don’t care about an updated Goodwood. I golded them all, why does it matter to me about a statue being removed if I’m never going to drive it again? Unless they add more races or find some other way to prominently feature the track, this isn’t important to me at all. I am particularly excited about the supposed new VGT car(s) that may be added with this update though.

  2. Jack The Ripper

Why are people so eager to except complete bullcrap from pd? They promised a boat load of content, yet delivered nothing but boring super laps and a stupid gps gimmick nobody will actually use. Where is the track editor? Or a spec seasonal events?

Over half a year and we still have nothing to show for it. Way to go pd.

Oh, and for the fine people out there who tell me or anybody else to stop complaining, know that I spent sixty dollars on this game. I paid full price for this game based on what they had promised me as a consumer and if they do not give me what they had promised us, are we supposed to keep our mouths shut? No. Last gran turismo game I buy if they keep this up.

  3. yudge2k

All this is just bs… Please PD don’t lose time on things like that. Give us what we want, like:
    – endurance races
    – B-Spec (with races longer than 24 minutes…)
    – course maker
    – the gps app
    – tire and gaz consumption in arcade mode
    – the track that was reveal in february
    – better sound
    I know ther’s more but i don’t have time.
After those thing are updated, then you can do updates like this one. More than 6 months and still no endurance races. GT isn’t GT anymore.

  4. StigBelcherStyl

So is this update being added as another track like a 2014 edition one or is it replacing the 2013 edition track with an updated central piece ?

  5. fordskydog

Don’t completely remove the Lotus sculpture… Just move it over onto the track, make it part of the course!

  6. CeeJay

The wording of the article isn’t very clear, is it an actual track update or is the update just changing the sculpture?? The pics don’t show anything different. If it’s just the sculpture that is going to be updated that’s pretty meh… now if they added the Goodwood Circuit or something we could actually race on that would be awesome!

  7. jhw93

It just surprises me how stupid some people are on here.

People are already writing the next update as pointless when PD have not even said what it contains. If you have bothered to read the article properly, it says that Goodwood has made the announcement about the mercedes statue, not PD. PD have not said anything yet about update 1.09, all we know is that we get the new VW car and some form of goodwood update this month.

It really just confuses me how people can get so angry and wound up over nothing. People are jumping to conclusions and for all we know this could mean some good content such as new goodwood events and we could get that Mercedes DLC pack, makes sense considering its paying homage to Mercedes 120 years motorsport.

Some of these comments are just…. put it this way, I am having a really hard time believing these people are ‘fans’ of the GT series. Some of the peoples intentions on here are obvious, especially when they just come on here to talk crap about the game and then go on about another popular racing game in same breath.

    1. Johnnypenso

You are confused at other people being angry so you call them stupid. Makes perfect sense.

    2. Magic Ayrton

Maybe, just maybe, it’s because us stupid people know exactly what to expect from PD, seeing as we have been using their software since the 1990’s!!
In order words.. Expect less and receive much less than that.. Since GT5 days at least.

  8. CORRUPTEDDISC

I was there when the Lotus homage was standing, and will be for the new one this year. Roll on the Goodwood FoS! :D

  9. kollosson

This doesn’t mean PD are not busy working on other stuff for the game or that they have stopped everything to do the Goodwood thing, its just an extra feature coming to the game, that’s all. As far as E3 goes I’m expecting/hoping to see something from GT7

    1. Johnnypenso

Jordan has already stated in the forums that he’s not going because he was told that there won’t be any GT content at E3. Hope you’re not holding your breath waiting…lol.

    1. kollosson

Its not PD’s doing, Goodwood are changing it and PD are updating the game to be current, if you’re not happy about it you best send a letter to Lord March…

    2. Johnnypenso

So Lord March put a gun to Kaz’s head and made him update the game? Of course it’s PD’s choice to update the track.

    3. biftizmo

johny …yes it may be part of the contract with good wood..so as to keep them up to date and relevant within the game…who knows what was agreed and what details we might expect in the future..

  10. apexpredator100

It’s the beginning of the month, so there isn’t a guarantee that this will be the only thing that’s arriving to GT6 this month.

  11. ironman44321

Neat? Seems like a bit of an odd thing to do especially since it likely isn’t coming with an update. But no sense in whining about it. It’s a minor change and it’s not like they aren’t updating GT6. Oh, and we have the VW VGT coming this month aswell, woo!

  12. binbin90

wow, you guys are like the harshest fans ever…….now that support for GT5 has ended, maybe they can now allocate more of their resources for GT6 updates.

  13. TokoTurismo

Wow PD… Just wow. You know guys, there’s a new Forza title coming to E3 and this year. We should all check that out and not wait for Kaz and PD to finish what they promised us, their waaaaay too slow…

    1. GT5HKSDRIFT

Quit complaining geez the is something called a ps3 which is very hard to make games for. All I ever hear is people bitching and moaning

    2. TokoTurismo

@GT5HKSDRIFT Okay. If the PS3 is hard to make games on, why the hell are other developers, even non Sony studios, making games on the PS3 with ease and not PD? Stop making excuses for PD please, because that’ll give you, THAT, image of a, you know what…

    3. BMfan

It probably wasn’t as hard as GT5 but you try and get over 1000 cars,+- 30 tracks, game music, engine sound(whether good or bad) and actually weather that plays at 1080 with a 7 year old CPU and a GPU that comes from the same era and the whole system only has 512 MB of ram.

Yes they should have moved it to the PS4 but they kept with their tradition of 2 main games per a console, they probably didn’t realize that a lot of people have become more anal over time.

    1. KOUKI507

I guess I am “nobody” then.

If you don’t want/like a feature, just politely tell us why. Everyone has a different opinion you know..

Making constructive comments is totally awesome. You should try it.

    2. John_Marsten

Speaking of constructive. Why don’t PD hurry you and construct the course maker, zahara, community features, and a game that is worthy of the first 4 titles?

      constructive

  14. Michelin

I wonder if the guys know that the features that were “promised to be at the game launch” (see the commas? Everyone assumes that, but there was never an official word from PD promissing those features to be at the game’s launch) weren’t promised like they say…

    1. CeeJay

Go to the Amazon or Gamestop webpage and look up GT6. You will see the following:

Course Maker: Create and customize your own race circuit on world renowned locations spanning several tens of square kilometers

Online Race Organizer: Form and manage your own communities & events from local, domestic to global

Mobile Device Compatibility: Extend your Gran Turismo experience anywhere through Smart Phone, Tablet or PC

No one is assuming anything, and Gamestop and Amazon didn’t just make these features up and post them without PD’s approval.

  15. CorvetteConquer

As PD announces a new layout of Goodwood, Turn10 announces a new Forza Horizon title. My oh my, we are a long ways away from the dominance of Gran Turismo a decade ago.

    1. vr6cas

I agree, I would love a proper cruising map, horizon gets it, I mean why add cruising to the lobby selection when truthfully cruising around a racetrack gets pretty stale. Have you all seen what some people have resorted to, cruising around ascari and streets of willow lol. Now what would the cruising/freerun community like better, driving around a huge city with highways, side streets and parking lots or driving around in circles on a two mile track. What about a proper drag strip for the drag racing community, but…we can get a new statue tho and a drive on the moon lol.
It does seem that PD is moving at a 20th century turtles pace in a 21st century rabbit’s race. Priorities Kaz priorities.

  16. HuskyGT

Awesome! More month-long advertising campaigns for meaningless content instead of working on the stuff that…

    … nevermind. Tired of whining…

    1. SZRT Ice

I’m almost there as well… Just waiting for the surprise content blowout for a final verdict.

    2. TokoTurismo

Hey Husky, there’s a new Forza title coming out for both the XB1 and the X360, called Forza Horizon 2. You should watch it at E3 next week and read on about it. :)

    3. HuskyGT

Yeah, I really want Forza 5, but that means getting an Xbox One… I still can get Forza 4 and Horizon though.

    1. SZRT Ice

Likely. Big waste of modelling space/time if not. There’s definitely gonna be some new Goodwood events to partake in. We should “hopefully” see some new 2014/2015 model car being revealed as well, or something like that.

  17. biftizmo

its Goodwood that have made an announcement here..not PD…so lets hold back on outrageous speculation till we find out more…i’m sure we will get to know more when PD are ready on GT website..meanwhile better get busy unlocking Goodwood…phew its hard to find the time with all the new stuff to do recently…it seems the racing and car world are very much interested in our little game here.

  18. wudy201

Oh I think they read my mind Just todayI thought to myself, self it would be awsome if they would add some new TTs to Goodwood I loved those runs and have done all of them a hundred times. I know it doesnt say theres going to be any new tt’s withthe update but it doesnt say there wont be either, so a fellow can wish cant he they are doing an update involving Goodwood so mabey, Them PD people have been awful tricky latley.

    1. SZRT Ice

Dude, 2Gb is small. I’m hoping the course maker and Zahara are massive. Like 10-15Gb “Happy Birthday to me (not literally)” massive.

I hope the club and community features is small however, as they are just functionality updates that don’t really bring physical content with them besides user interface/presentation changes.

  19. PsuPepperoni

We might just have Goodwood 2013 and 2014… PD likes to pad the car/track numbers with slightly different copies of the same thing.

  20. gtfanforlife

Remember when Mercedes told us they were added three new cars to GT6? Maybe this will include those other two…

    1. FrzGT

I more despise on Xbone than Forza.
I just cant stand their business model.

Forza is a good game. GT6 is also a good game.

  21. Amac500

Well, looks like its time to take as many shots of the Lotus statue as I can before it’s gone! How much do you wanna bet we get the Grand Prix circuit at some point between now and the Festival of Speed?

  22. John_Marsten

So it is going to take them 1 month and probably another gig of data for yet ANOTHER pointless update.

    Far out PD. Unbelievable.

    1. jhw93

@John_Marsten They have not even announced what else is in the update and yet your here to slag it off already… you remind me of one of those little terriers that rushes to bite someones ankles and bark as soon as the doors open….

Do us all a favor and have a day off will ya?

    2. John_Marsten

Just annoyed at PDs complete lack of acknowlegement to priorities. Thats all.

I WANT THE STUFF I PAID FOR BACK IN DECEMBER FFS

    3. John_Marsten

See thats where you’re wrong. It as advertised that there would be a whole bunch of features that are STILL yet to arrive.

Instead we get a ridiculous GPS feature that NO-ONE can use, and a new statue on the Goodwood track.

    4. jhw93

Actually, you are in the wrong for a few reasons.

      1. Technically you don’t own the game at all – What you payed for in December is a licence that grants you access to the game. However, it is completely up to the developer and publisher what that licence lets you access. PD could have made those 8 updates we have had into paid DLC if they wanted to. You have not payed for any content, you have payed for a licence. (this is the case with Film and Music as well)

      2. PD did promise some features such as the course creator but they never specified a release date for it, and they were clearly specified as future features. I understand that you may want them now but it is pretty stupid of you to complain considering that they have not promised a release date nor have you ‘payed’ for them.

      3. “GPS feature that NO-ONE can use, and a new statue on the Goodwood track” – Its nice that you have somehow no memory of the senna update we just had, which brought plenty of content. Also the extra content with the vision GT cars. And again, your jumping to conclusions about the june update, which they haven’t even spoken about in detail yet. For all we know it could bring the mercedes DLC pack that was spoken about, considering its a tribute to mercedes.

Whats the point complaining about stuff that you hardly know about? Just enjoy the game as it is.

    5. John_Marsten

      Well written jhw93.

I agree with you on all of your points. I am glad they released the Senna content, and I am also glad the the vast majority of players are getting enjoyment out of it. However, for me personally, these updates have bought nothing to the game that warrants me to turn on GT6. Sad I know.

The thing that really annoys me with GT6 and PD, is their lack of focus when it comes the important issues with the game, both online and offline. The camber bug, the pitstop bug, the complete lack of ingenuity with the online portion of the game. Yes, some of the bugs may have been fixed, but damn, they took their time doing it.

Its also funny how a bug that could have cost them money in their beloved Macrotransactions was very promptly dealt with.

    6. Johnnypenso

The Senna content was promised months ago and it’s not “plenty of content”. It’s two cars and a kart (in a game with zero kart tracks) and a couple of slight alterations to existing tracks.

Yes we did pay for the advertised features that we have yet to receive. They were promised when we bought the game, therefore part of the original purchase agreement, not added at a later date.

    7. Quakebass

There’s actually supposed to be quite bit this month, really – we ARE getting a promised feature, the GPS data logger. Whether or not you like this feature is irrelevant, it’s a promised feature, and they are upholding the bargain, legally. Then we have the VGT, unexpected Goodwood, and who knows what else? literally nothing else has been announced, and you all exploded when information was added. Don’t explode until you are 100% certain there is something to explode about (in reference to the June update).

My take on the promised features deal – We payed for a game that would be continuously updated and supported over time. It was made very clear what would be on-disk at launch, and what would come after. If these features did not come within the lifespan of the game, PD would be in the wrong. We payed for the game, and it’s continued support – both, not one or the other.

Here’s the issue, though – PD put strong emphasis and gave juicy details about much of the “future update” content, like the Course Creator and the Community Features. If one advertises as such, personally, I would imagine it’s because they are coming rather early on. But they didn’t come then, and still haven’t, and it seems ridiculous to have so much missing features, most of which is relatively simple to implement (Community Features), or existed in past iterations of the franchise (Course Creator V1.0, Shuffle racing, B-Spec, etc.).

Legally speaking we have (or rather ARE) getting what we payed for. Realistically, in my eyes, we haven’t, and are are still waiting for the game we spent money on. My hopes for buying a game that is “continually supported” is that more stuff is added to a complete product over time, not something that gets finished post-launch, which pretty much is what GT6 has been so far.

    8. Johnnypenso

When you see the words, “legally speaking we have (or rather ARE) getting what we payed for”, you know you’re grasping at straws. It boils down to this, not a single one of the most anticipated features has been released, going into the 7th month of release. If I had said on December 6th that we would be this far along without a major feature being in the game, the fanboy half of the forum would have exploded in contempt and the more rational half of the forum would have expressed outrage.

    9. research

Thank you JohnnyP for your rational view on this controversial subject. You are a HUGE supporter of GT annnnd GTPlanet, yet you are not bound by irrational emotional attachment.

      Bravo.

    10. Magic Ayrton

Crazy how people think that changing a feature at goodwood will be noticed at 120 mph while taking a corner sideways.

      What happened PD?

    11. Quakebass

Actually, we have received the data logger feature, and we have received SOME (big emphasis one SOME) added community features. So they have been upholding their bargain so far. They gave no set release date for any of the content, so again, legally, all they have to do to seal the deal is release all of it before the game’s support is dropped, and they’re in the clear.

Do I think they’re in the clear? Do I think we’re ACTUALLY getting what we payed for? You can be damn sure I don’t, I think it’s B.S. considering how much info was given and discussion was made on the now-post-launch features. I don’t even have a copy, and I still hold this opinion.

(So when I say we, I really mean those that have purchased it…)

  23. vr6cas

I’m still mad that they decided to ruin the first Goodwood events by putting a Red bull at the end of it, I golded all but that one, got silver. Hope we could get more time trials with this, with the 97T at the end instead of that Red Bull.

    1. wudy201

Actually the redbull is fairly easy. I thought at first it was imposible but you need to back off, i wen full blast thinking I had to but the main thing is staying on the track. Back off a little bit and it actually becomes kinda easy you just have keep yourself from running it full throttle as its capable of getting gold times without using all the cars got. I think the Lotus would actually be harder because you probobly would need to run it to its max.. Oh and I only have a ds3 to use before anybody thinks I use a wheel.

  24. Rod Carvalho

    Where is Interlagos?

Why waste resources on changing a track that is already in the game.

  25. chengman

Now give us the option to use it for online hill climb time attacks? The full length inside race track would be nice.

    1. Gavster11

True, but it’s used for The Goodwood Revival, Not The Festival of Speed. There’s also a rally stage.

    2. acjy1985

Goodwood Circuit is a standalone racing track, not even particularly close to Goodwood House. The Hillclimb takes place in the grounds of Goodwood House.

    3. acjy1985

What I mean @Johnnypenso is that they aren’t one and the same track like some people on here think

    1. STB Macca

Gold is actually quite easy to get in all the events with a bit of practice. I remember thinking i would never be able to do the red bull gold but i ended up shattering the time just by slowing down a little believe it or not……

Sure it would be no fun without a challenge and learning curve :)

    1. Gavster11

The sculpture changes every year, when I went to the event a few years back, it was a sculpture of a Jaguar E-Type celebrating the car’s 50th year.
