The online services for Gran Turismo 6 will be unavailable during a special maintenance period starting Wednesday, May 14, 2014, at 09:00 GMT/UTC and lasting approximately two hours.
It is important to remember that online maintenance notices do not necessarily indicate the launch of game updates, however they do often foreshadow their release. The timing of this maintenance notice is somewhat unusual, considering most scheduled maintenance periods take place on Mondays.

An update coming to Gran Turismo 6 will allow players to relive the legacy of Brazilian racer Ayrton Senna, Sony and Polyphony Digital have announced. The content, which includes one of Senna’s first go-karts and the Lotus 97T Senna drove during his second Formula 1 season in 1985, will be available for free on May 27.
The update also includes two Senna Challenges, which test a player’s ability to best Senna’s times on the same courses he drove in ’85. Those that earn bronze or better in a Senna Challenge will earn the Lotus 97T for free, but those that would rather skip the whole “challenge” part can buy the car using in-game currency.

As I said before: when PD announce maintenance, an update follows. What all will be included, I’m not sure… but there will be an update tomorrow or Thursday.
I ended up signing in to GT6 to check if there had been an update after posting about the new slideshow. The reason being was because of this piece of text …
“Slideshow #1 has been released. This is a short digest version of the “Ayrton Senna Tribute” that can be viewed in the game. Part #2 is planned for release on 19 May.”
Not sure what is meant by ‘can be viewed in the game’.
Anyway, another possibility?
I doubt it will be Senna content, but it is odd to see it happening on the 14th? Maybe the Senna content isn’t going to be the regular May update? Who knows.

Feels like its been a while since there has been any maintenance. Wonder if this is hinting at something big now that GT5’s servers will be down two weeks from Saturday.
It’s certainly clearing the way for them a little. Here’s hoping everyone.
