GTPlanet Weekly Rewind: Sooner Than Expected

McLaren MP4-12C

Gran Turismo 6 has yet to make it’s way into our homes and there’s already talk of it’s successor, Gran Turismo 7. It would appear, at least at the moment, that the simplified system architecture used in the PlayStation 4 will allow Polyphony Digital, as well as any other developer, to drastically shorten the amount of development time required; more to the point, it will allow PD to return to their usual release schedule which ranged anywhere from 2-4 years.

“The PlayStation 4 game which we’ll likely call GT7 will be done in about a year or two, I think, and I think the community aspect’s going to be vital there as well.”

What will become of GT7 once the tides have swayed in its direction? As someone who greatly enjoys the series for what it is it’s fun to speculate, but it must be pointed out that GT6 hasn’t even gone gold yet so don’t expect anything on the seventh installment just yet.

Speaking of GT6, with less than three months until its release this holiday season Famitsu was given this update regarding the progression of the game by the man himself:

“It’s really hard to give an accurate answer to that. The basic components are already complete, so overall I’d have to say about 80 percent. The physics engine, the steering controls; those parts of the user interface are things that we fine tune-right up to the very end. Things like the game modes; I can say that those are complete.”

With the Tokyo Game Show coming up next week you can rest assured that more of GT6’s cards are going to be turned over. We still know very little of the improved customization options, and then there are the new cars and tracks; some of which should be unveiled next week.

There’s much to cover this week so let’s get a move on!

GTPlanet Picture of the Week

This week’s featured image is part of a set entitled “Night Dreamer” and comes to us courtesy of Hernan04, featuring Toyota’s FT-86 Concept II. I fully recommend checking out the entire set as it’s brilliantly edited and shot.

Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Picture of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.

Gran Turismo 6 Gameplay (Direct Audio)

You’re all familiar with my mantra by now, why talk when the videos can speak for themselves? I intend to stay true to that with these and any other videos posted here in the Rewind.

Three videos featuring the BMW Z4 GT3, Pagani Huayra, and the Fisker Karma.

GTPlanet Weekly Race Series (WRS) Week 134: Screamin’ Wankel

wrstitlestimetrials2

Last week’s Rewind went without a WRS mention because I missed a notice in our lofty editorial lounge that’s filled to the brim with snacks and assorted soft drinks. This week’s Rewind shall suffer no such lack of content as you’ll return to the WRS using the powers of the rotary engine. This week’s event is all about the Mazda RX-8.

Sector times are shaping up in the usual fashion and with a maximum 261 horsepower once “broken in” the times will only drop. The Stewards comments are straight to the point this week:

This is a fun one, screamin’ Rotary on a great city track. Have fun.

London_4-1

Stop by the official thread here and remember that you NEED to be registered before officially participating in the WRS, and that can only be done by submitting a time for the official GTP Registry Qualifier.

GTPlanet Member of the Week

Once again it’s time to acknowledge a member of the GTPlanet community; a member who has stood out among the hundreds of thousands of members already here, both old and new alike for all that they’re worth and all they’ve contributed to the community.

Last week we inducted yet another new Junior member proving that it’s not always about the tried and true, and this week we will induct yet another Junior that proves the exact same thing for the second consecutive week — a first for Junior inductees. So without further ado, let’s welcome this week’s newest inductee, a member widely known for their contributions to our very own OLR. The newest inductee in to the Member of the Week hall of fame is none other than zer05ive!

EDIT: The interview has finally landed! For the whole kit and kaboodle be sure to stop by the official Member of the Week thread!

Anyone you’d like to see recognized as the Member of the Week? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Member of the Week” and fill it out with your choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot nominate yourself.

GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week

7724677708_a8689b6c19_b

A consequent of the furthering development of 2005’s 1,001 horsepower Bugatti Veyron, this week’s featured vehicle is the climax in the series, the Bugatti Veyron Super Sport.

Offering a stunning set of specifications such as a seven-speed twin-clutch gearbox, and precise driving performance and stability under load. Continuous work in the extremes lead to new conclusions; conclusions which allowed the Bugatti engineers to develop the Veyron and steer it into a direction that would allow the driver to reach “new dimensions”.

Every modification made to create the Super Sport was designed to create an even more powerful machine; four enlarged turbochargers and bigger intercoolers were used to boost the power of the 16-cylinder “W” engine, and the chassis improved alongside it to maintain safety at extreme speeds. All of the improvements producing an otherworldly 1,183 horsepower and 1,106 lb-ft of torque that would permit the Veyron SS the ability to outclass it’s original incarnation, sitting firmly at the top of the world’s fastest production car class with a new top speed of 268 mph, a speed that is Governor limited only to protect the tires.

Have a suggestion for next week’s featured image? Drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week” and fill it out with your two choices and they’ll be featured in upcoming Rewinds. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.

GTPlanet Tune of the Week

Gran Turismo 5

This week’s tune once again focuses on American muscle, and more specifically, the Camaro. Although this time around it’s a concept with a curious title, “Heloderma suspectum” which is a species of venomous lizard, otherwise known as the Gila monster.

Recommended to us by tuning aficionado danbojte and courtesy of Clueless Tunes’ very own krenkme is a 450PP tune honed at the Green Hell itself and has a fairly modest 286 horses rampaging underneath its hood. You’re instructed to allow the tune and the vehicle to grow on you, but surely letting your defenses down in the midst of something so dangerous is the very last thing you should do!

Victory is the name of the game as usual and if it’s a deserving victory that you’e after then you’ll want to stop by and see the tune for yourself.

Exactly like the Picture and Vehicle of the Week features, if you have any suggestions for the upcoming Rewinds be sure to drop me a private message, entitle it “GTPlanet Tune of the Week” and let me know. NOTE: You cannot elect your own work.

Ferrari F40 vs. Ferrari F50 – Like You’ve Never Seen Them Before

Ferrari’s own 40th and 50th (48th) anniversary supercars going head-to-head. That’s all the introduction you’ll ever need.

GTPlanet Photomode Competitions

9736447436_1729a43d6e_o

In Week 146 of the Standard and Advanced competitions you are to put your best foot forth and show the community just how seriously you take your in-game photography. All you need to know is as follows:

Week 146, Standard: The Forgotten Child – Ever forgotten about a baby of yours (I’m talking about a car!!)? Search for the one premium vehicle that you believe is the most forgotten in the game and let it out for a breather. Use these two methods to add up the level of neglect-ion.  “1. How much you’ve forgotten about the car, 2. How rarely you see the vehicle on GTPlanet?” Got it? Let’s go baby hunting!”

Week 146, Advanced 2.0: Muscle Car vs. Import Tuner – “Chose a side and take any road car and location you want as long as the picture shows the raw power of US muscle cars or the high tuned import cars from Japan.”

For all of the relevant information pertaining to this week’s challenges be sure to stop by here and here.

Closing Thoughts

Next week is the Jalopnik Film Festival, and trust me when I say this: it’s already shaping up to be quite the event. What do I mean? You’ll just have to wait until next week’s exceptionally long review to find out! Seriously, you may not see the Rewind until next week Sunday. That’s how much recapping I believe I’ll be doing.

Look forward to next week. That’s all I can say.

Now a message from our sponsor, me:

While you’re salivating at the very thought of Gran Turismo 6 finding itself into your PlayStation 3 this coming December why not take the time to become a full-fledged member of our wonderful community. It’s free and we have cake! Okay, we don’t have cake (the cake is and always will be a lie, remember this!) but we do have a strong community and we’re always talking about something interesting. If you aren’t already a member you should join today and maybe you can work out a patented antidote for “Lying Cake Syndrome”. Seriously, it’s been years since I’ve had cake.

My shameless Twitter plug has also returned!

Once again I forgot to mention that I’m on Twitter now. What was once going to be a bit of parody account (because I don’t use Facebook or Twitter for any reason whatsoever) has quickly turned into me using Twitter rather effectively. So, follow me and suggest all things Rewind-worthy from the comfort of your tablets, phones, or Skynet-linked computers. Remember, when the machines finally rise you’ll need someone to write pieces regarding the matter littered with Armageddon-y undertones and I can be just that guy! What were we talking about? Right, Twitter, so if you’ll follow me here the Rewind can be delivered to you in a timely fashion not seen since snail mail. Wait, that’s not the right thing to say!

You will be showered in Rewind, Seasonal Event and future article goodness courtesy of yours truly, so there’s that worth looking forward to once I’ve bothered to get the thing up and running. It can also be used to suggest things for upcoming Rewinds, so that’s now two ways you all can keep me on my toes.

I look forward to the film festival with great anticipation (even more so than before now!) and if you’re going to be dropping by be sure to find me and bug the ever-living out of me! I like people, you know. Sometimes. How will you know who I am? Oh, you’ll know. Trust us.

Another Rewind in the wind column. Until next week, keep racing!

I think I just paid $60 bucks for better lighting effects.
I notice the In Car view hasn’t changed. Needs at least to be able to see BOTH side mirrors. Specially in street cars.

I am wondering what the 10’s were next to the tire indicators.
Unfortunately I didn’t see them change at all in that first video. A tire heat indicator would be great. Would be able to dial in toe and camber. Or even a wear guide. IE shows a number of both sides of a given tire. Could live with that.

One thing I noticed is it looks like that wheel was as sensitive as a stick.
I have G27 so I assuming the TM is the same and doesn’t have the ability to control full lock. Maybe they added that which would be good. F1 and drifting.

    1. DonJo76

Would be cool, very cool !
trow in a e36 m3 also and im an happy man, but dont get your hopes up though.
there not in the game and i think they never will be.

    2. HaerBev

Yes I want the M3 E30 Sport Evolution and the standard one but there’s already 3 new BMW cars, so unfortunately I guess there will never be an E30.

  2. Not_A_Guest

On the subject of more customization features, I’m thinking that all the “new stuff” is going to be a bunch of new rear wings. Sad but true. If they did make a livery editor though, I’d never leave the house ever again.

    1. infamousphil

I think we’re gonna get a few body parts too, NaG ;) … especially for the Japanese cars. That would be the least they would do. As for the American cars… huge superchargers sitting high atop the engines of the old muscle cars would be something the drag community would be proud of. Not a fan of drag racing, but PD since GT2 has hinted at the possibility.

    2. DonJo76

somebody posted an image of all the rims you would get in gt3, a long list of all kinds of rims!
      Hope that is coming back!
      Because in gt5?
      well it just sucked!
      haha.

    3. GTHEAD87

I hope you can go into race mods for a specific car you get the choice between race graphics or gran turismo RM. e.g the vauxhall vectra from gt2, if you go to race mods you get the british touring car graphics. This would be cool to see again.

  3. COUNTERSTEER123

I wonder what PD has to say about GT6 at the Tokyo Games Show. They know we have high expectations, it’s just a matter on how they’ll make their final stand. They’ve got to SHOCK us with something. For example, a demonstration of a car with new car sounds IF THAT’S POSSIBLE.

    1. HarVee

Of course that’s possible. However, I don’t understand what is so shocking about a car with new sounds? Something more shocking would be along the lines of a livery editor.

    2. racingRAW

Any of the things mentioned above would be sort of shocking, but I also think something else that would be shocking is some sort of explanation as to how the new aerokits in the game will actually effect the performance of the car… or the ability to change tire size on your car! (with actual real tire sizes and numbers) or even the ability to adjust tire pressures.

  4. infamousphil

Ok, my phone just allowed me to.view the rest of the GT6 demos.

I sure hope we’ll see a full field of AI for arcade races. And lets not forget a full field.of AI on the Aspec side either, along with at least 5 races for each division and/or class as well.

  5. infamousphil

Disregard Terronium… forgot about our friends at FM, who enjoy a much better Ferrari selection than can at GT.

    1. DonJo76

Ive never played the forza series, the one thing that got me hooked on the gt series back in ´97 where the graphics and physics, even more the graphics, because there was nothing like it. Forza always was a little behind gt when it comes to graphics.
Just did some research on forza 4 and damn man!, they got f40+ lm version, the f50+ gt , the 355 and so much more ferrari’s!
They even got the lamborghini diablo sv ( stil not the old one with the old headlights) !
LOL, come on PD, let us drive the old supercars that where on our walls as posters when we where little kids!

Btw, i hope that the rest of the old supercars ( jaq XJ220 etc ) are premium now!

      Bring it on!!!

    2. infamousphil

The engine sound for the F40LM was the shiznit, in FM2. But when FM3 came out the F40LM sound was complete crap… WTH!? Even FM isn’t immune to stupid changes.

I don’t have a.clue what most of these cars sound like in real life, so I won’t judge. But when it sounds good?..

    3. DonJo76

You should really really check those 2 videos, the one with chris harris is stunning, but you here a lot of onboard sound. The first one is F40 and F50 and it brings me goosebumps everytime is here it.

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=AsXTS0hDxjE

The second one is a F50 GT, 3 of them only where made. At first i thought it was the onboard sound of the ferarri with cam, it was actualy the F50GT

      part 1

      http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=aVE8fdDqWKo

There is also aF40LM somewhere in part 2 but the F50 is killing me, what a sound!!!

    Long live S.N.A.I.L.

Bughatti Veyron Super Sport… GTPlanet Vehicle of the Week? OK, usually don’t pay close attention to details regarding qualifications for such things… black/orange is a great color scheme, especially at this time of year through. Is there a hack for this color combination? Just curious.

    1. infamousphil

Oh, dang. Thanks Beast. And.I recently posted.a comment on featuring video of whips on available on GT. Please forgive ;]

  8. BeastAgent98

I am getting sick and tired of all these people being disappointed, yet those are the same ones that are rushing…
Its ridiculous! If you aren’t going to get the game, DON’T GET THE GAME! Nobody cares if you do or don’t so no need to tell everyone that you aren’t. It’s your opinion and decision…And if you are going to judge (poorly) before the final product please do so to yourself and dont get the game. It seems as if you are trying to influence other people’s decisions. Dont be like that please and stay humble fellow GT fans and be patient.

If I said that a bit too harshly, I apologize. I REALLY had to let that off my chest.

    1. DonJo76

Harsh? Get your act together and think for a moment!
One thing i can tell you 4 sure it has nothing to do with influence other peoples dicisions bro!

    2. infamousphil

Nature of internet forums, Beast. Best to remember… don’t let your panties bunch too long at the risk of loosing testicular productivity ;)

It’s a good thing.to vent… pro or con. Let passion be your guide ;)

    3. BeastAgent98

Wait a second..That’s not me! Sorry guys, a friend borrowed my laptop and obviously used my account instead of his to troll? *FACEPALM*

    4. MadmuppGT

I dont think its ridiculous for fans to become frustrated by the lack of confirmed news on what is probably the last big hurray for the PS3.

I for one wish and hope for a nice big chunk of news from TGS, especially more on the course creator and something new… the new thing doesnt have to contain a lot of details. For example a Livery editor, PD wouldnt need to go into details about it to cause this site to explode.

But if PD show the same or a slightly modified promo video and go into further detail about how the cars are modeled etc over more pressing questions like the quality of Standard cars and engine sounds, then I believe fans have a justifiable right to be disappointed.
After all theyve dedicated a lot of time and money into the franchise and saying ‘If X, Y and Z arent addressed I dont think I’ll buy it’ only means PD will improve the franchise even further to win those people back if the worst does happen.

But as you say this is ones opinion, and I’m sure the people who are yet to be convinced to buy GT6 would never want or think about changing peoples minds on the game.

The more pressing matter is something is certainly missing of late to make so many people disappointed. Theres no smoke without fire as they say

  9. TokoTurismo

For me, I’m not expecting updated sounds at launch. Like Kaz said, he doesn’t know if the new sounds will make it at launch, and could provide them via update. That’s my impression.

    1. dixonbaps

I don’t care much about the sounds. For me they work fine in GT5. I just hope the update the God aweful soundtrack to something to my liking rather than those damned kids singing, lol. But the car sounds work for me in GT5 and should in GT6. The only thing I want is a 1000% improvement on A-Spec career mode to something alot more bigger and better than GT4

And the course creator is looking very good at the moment and I hope it lives upto all the hype that it seems to be getting.

All in all I can’t wait for December 6th to see what marvel PD has created.

    2. ScotteDawg

Toko, I’m with you on that! I remember Kaz saying that some time ago but a lot of people seem to have forgotten what he said or didn’t read the article, either properly or at all…

As for the awful music dixonbaps, we were given the ability to use music from our own list from our XMB! Whatever music was put into the game by PD was of no consequence to me as I just turned off ALL the in-game music and used my own!! Even then, I only used it for replays…

  10. R35 SKYLIN3

Well to reply to that rally, They maxed out PS3 resources fair enough, It is also true that in most cases more realistic handling is important but can you say you are satisfied when hundreds of cars in this game can be made to sound exactly the same? How is it apporpriate to max out PS3 resources texturing and implementing many different reproductions of japanese cars? Like I said, I would much rather they focused on making 400 great cars than over a 1000 cars when most of them wont be of a quality that should be expected at this day and age. Can you say you are satisfied going into a standard car when the sound is completely wrong, the outside is poorly textured and there is not cockpit view bar a silhouette? Id be much happier with Forza’s car list and design in its cars and interiors & different customisations within GT5 which wouldnt have been that outlandish if they hadn’t maxed out on a stupid car list

    1. Rallywagon

Considering all if the other sims I’ve played, yeah, I can say I’m satisfied. Currently. And I will be with gt6. compare gt to any other sim, not including forza, and tell me you can find one better. I exempt forza because it is such a great copy of gt, so of course it should be on par with gt.
With that said though, I expect a huge leap forward once gt7 hits on ps4. Considering the platform and architecture of the ps4, subgrade sounds and modeling cant be justified.

  11. Rallywagon

Man there are a lot of haters. To begin, how can you judge a game by a video of what is essentially a beta version? No one has a completed, final copy. Secondly gt5 pretty much maxed out the PS3s resources, so to expect a quantum leap in game play graphics and sound is unrealistic. They did an awesome job with the equipment they have to use this far, if you want better sound, it will be at the expense of something else, such as physics. Personally, in a racing game, I feel realistic handling is more important then realistic sound. Third, if you are not involved in program development or project management, then you don’t have a foot to stand on when it comes to questioning development, DLC, or updates. No one knows what policies they deal with, nor the milestones they have in place or anything else.
If you are not happy with a game that no one has even touched a final copy of, sell your ps3 and move out to the forza forums.

On to better news: zer0 congrats on member of the week. Should be member of the year right there! Did they pot your picture on the wall and hook you up with a nice parking spot?

    1. DonJo76

@Rallywagon, Haters? thats not whats happening here my friend. Dissapointment has nothing to do with hating if your a fan of this gt series from day one!
Sell your ps3 and move to the forza forums???
Why would you say something like that?
I really think your out of line here!
There is nothing wrong with dissapointment right?

A real hater would say different things i guess.
Although your absolutly right about the expense of resources, i think this is a good way to express your feelings, because if it would be up to fanboys there wouldnt be much to evolve anyway.

    2. Magic Ayrton

To be honest Rallywagon, you just don’t get it do you? Some cars like the Lotus Evora for example are spot on sound wise.. it’s the inappropriate samples that dog the other cars which I take offence to.. it would not take a revolution to change that, no, PD just won’t do it I believe. That makes GT less realistic and as a consequence much less enjoyable. I just hope I am wrong that’s all.

      I am NOT hating, just like R35 Sylin3 isn’t.

    3. MadmuppGT

I’m not hating Im just saying PD are doing themselves no favours by keeping details of the game a secret, The Course maker for one got a big mention about the size of the map then nothing… they need to do what the guys at Evolution are doing with Driveclub, just go look at their Facebook page, theyre answering questions left right and centre and not just journalists, answering questions from normal joes like you and me, but I digress, Evolution are promoting that game correctly, if they notice a positive reaction to something they release they go further with it, giving a few more details before introducing something new. They ride the positive wave and generate buzz. They also seem to be more in touch with a fanbase for a game that isnt even a franchise yet than PD do for what is a Playstation flagship title.

Prime case in point, a few fans said they were worried about engine sounds, as the videos theyve seen have music on them, so did they do the PD route and say some cryptic lost in translation stuff to let us make our own minds up, not they released a video within a few days with a new track and no music.

Thats how you deal with fans and how you promote a game. Not battening down the hatches and saying you’ll just have to see.

and thats why many old GT fans are considering waiting for reviews. No one hurts more than I when I say, its time for PD to change how it deals with its fans or risk losing them.

    4. DonJo76

@MadmuppetGT, You are exactly right bro, they did that from gt 3 on and on.
Maybe its got to do with that they are a japanese based developer?
      And are maybe more preserved?
Dont know to be honest, but it makes no sense!
At some point its just a game, a flagship title that is!!!
So why are they always so short on information???

      anybody?

    5. MadmuppGT

      anybody?

I’m hoping most of it is down to the different working conditions and traditions of a Japanese developer.

I say if we dont get anything news worthy at TGS, then I would put the worried level at DEFCON 3

  12. R35 SKYLIN3

@Rage, Can you please tell me of some brilliant thing I am missing, As if I am missing it, I would like to know about it
@Rally, If you notice, I am not writing a review of the game, I am reviewing the information that has been confirmed and what has been observed from the gameplay footage, But can much really be expected to drastically change?

    1. Rallywagon

I guess we see things differently. I’m looking forward to seeing exactly what they have in store concerning online play, as well as how they intend to implement the aspec mode in terms of replacing the experience system of gt5. Easy guess is back license tests, but how will that play out, and will how will it affect the online side. If huge leaps in sounds AI and car quality is what your after, wait until ps4. The ps3 wasn’t well equiped to handle that. Further, I ask, how many cars are in the premium dealership now? How many cars will be in the premium dealership on gt 6? A bit over 200 not be the 400 you want but it is a fair number, with more to be added in gt6. I guess I won’t debate dlc though. We had a taste of PD and DLC, and they sucked at it. Certainly left me wanting more, especially considering they promised more. Foully this tend doesn’t follow into gt6.

    2. DonJo76

Lets hope you right about that Rallywagon!
I too look forward to al new aprovements and the online modes to set up a good online race!

  13. R35 SKYLIN3

To be honest im massively dissapointed overall with GT6 and PD. Its not as if they did not have time to generate feedback as GT5 came out years ago and they didnt really put much of an effort in with DLC. We gave them many ways to improve the game, But what have they really done? They have fixed up the graphics a bit and made the car’s temprement a bit more unpredictable which I liked having to wrestle it under control.
But look at the stuff which they have not given us which we have pleaded for. They have given us 200 more cars, Some are regenerated standards such as the Cizeta if im right? But anyway, I dont know about you guys, But I would rather have 400 cars in equally good quality and variation than over 1000 when half the car roster is made up of duplicate japanese sports cars and 60-80% made up of poorly rendered standard cars which im assuming will still have no proper cockpits which I find embarrassing.
We pleaded for realistic car sounds bearing in mind that only the marquee cars such as the GTR’s the Enzo, the old race cars (XJ13, 330 P4, GT Mk4) Have unique sounds although mostly low quality in terms of relevance to the real thing, Most other cars may have unique sounds stock, Be as it may boring most of the time, Once an exhaust upgrade is made, It will change to a completely irrelevant recycled sound used in another 100 or so cars (My prime example being the race modified corvette’s).
We asked for more intelligent/difficult AI, Clearly shown in these videos, they are as boring and unreacting mostly.
What do we have to do to show them that what we are getting after waiting such a long time to see basically a recycled slightly polished version of the game before and it simply is not good enough!

    1. DonJo76

Couldnt said it any better, although there is still a lot of fun in online racing and i really hope that they will have this fixed at tokyo gameshow.
I do hope that the sounds you here in the above videos is still a placeholder and they are still working on it.

    2. Rage9one

GT6 on it’s way, GT7 confirmed, PD really did it this time, can’t wait for the two greatest racing games ever game!

    3. Rage9one

@R35 SKYLIN3 if you can’t see the obvious updates and new content that GT6 has to offer, then you my friend are blind. nuff said

    4. Magic Ayrton

Yep.. shame because sound is very important to me, the rest looks pretty good.. but will wait until after christmas now no doubt to check out reviews etc.

    5. Rallywagon

Shouldn’t we wait to actually play the game before saying what it should and shouldn’t have, and deciding where it does and doesn’t lack? It’s currently 80% complete. That is a fairly big percentage in the dev world. Can’t write a review on something you’ve not actually played.

    6. Whodoyouthink

I can’t agree with you enough, took the words out of my mouth. In the end though, I still want this game. I can still see redeemable things in GT6 and so I look at it as it being JUST ENOUGH to satisfy me, but not as much as I or anyone would really like. Not enough to really blow us away and give us the feeling that we don’t have to look for or make fun in the game because it’s all already there.

Instead we still have to use underpowered cars, harder tires, and challenge ourselves to race 100% clean (not as much of a challenge to some).

  14. Magic Ayrton

Deplorable engine sounds once again.. if this doesn’t improve and I mean by a lot, I will cancel my pre order.. will give it to the end of November just in case their break through arrives before GT7 (sarcastic) they really are pushing our patience :(

  15. Coenraad

I’ll be honest and say i am just very disapointed after seeing these movies. I was really looking forward to that Z4 GT3. But man, what an utter disapointment. I would expect that with a new car, they would atleast make it sound a little like the real thing, but it is not even remotely real. Just some old resicled sound we have since atleast GT3, over 10 years ago.

And the AI just seems just as oblivious to the players position and moves as in GT5.

I just cannot discribe how really disapointed these video’s made me feel. When does PD realize we don’t need more, but we need BETTER! And that less (cars), sometimes means more.

Unless this picks up, i am actualy starting to doubt if i even want GT6.

  16. Rionmoon

    1. I’ll believe GT7 comes out sooner than later when I see it. Seeing as how we’re only getting GT 5.5 -or the GT5 we should have gotten THREE years ago- this time around I won’t expect GT7 till 2016 at the earliest and I’m being optimistic.

    2. Further PROOF that we’re getting GT5.5 is that the sound, while not God awful still sounds pretty much the same in so called “GT 6” as it does in GT5

Oh and for all the PD / Kaz defenders, yes sound is a minor thing compared to some of the other game issues but it just shows either a continued dismissing of the games players OR an utter failure of attention to detail. Either one of those issues says quite a lot about the developers

  17. Blood*Specter

I like the physics, I like the cars and I like the tracks. The one thing that would truly make GT6/7 shine is introduction of a really good AI.

That would add some much needed excitement to solo game play/career mode. A truly competitive AI would set the game apart from all others. Just saying. I’m still going to get GT6/PS4/GT7 because each one is going to be awesome.

  18. MadmuppGT

I need a lot more info on GT6 before I sink money into it, because not to cause arguments or anything but what Ive seen of GT6 could be seen as DLC.

You have no idea how much it pains me to say it

  19. finnracer

Z4 does not sound nice at all, veery recycled. Can’t comment on the Karma but its probably closer than the other two vids. The Pagani sounds nice up to 3500rpm beyond which half its cylinders seem to stop firing. It will be a shame if these are the final sounds.

p.s. The Chris Harris vid is pure car porn.

    1. sangdude82

Yeah, I agree with you. It does sound like the real thing at the low rev then the sounds changes when it goes into the high rev.

    2. Boosted_01_R

horrible sound…… they use very realistic idle/very low RPM…. and it seems they use the idle sounds to generate the rest of the RPM range it seems….. This is gonna be the first GT game I will wait for a review, I’m happy with GT5 lol…. GT7 or bust lol

    3. infamousphil

Rest assured that when PD discovers a bonified way to duplicate sound completely and accurately, they will blast the good news from the highest mountain top… Fugi? ;)

Otherwise, we can continue to group grope PD for their complete and utter failure in the sound department. The more improvements they make in visual graphics the more important sonic stimuli will be. Perhaps that is why they spend so much time in the elevator music room… in hopes that we use the BGM to help ingore their shortcomings.

  20. infamousphil

    Open note to GTPlant staff:

First, thank you for the Chri Harris video. Loved it. Two of Enzo’s greatest anniversary machines driven idioticly, as if there’s no cost for extreme transgressions. Forgive me, for I am cursed with incurable poverty ;)

Second, how dare you?! By hosting the antics and video car porn featuring cars that have not been suggested, hinted or promised, you do me nor PD any justice. Because I have been secretly plotting to take over Ferrari with extreme hostility, for at least an eon, I have no.choice but to blame you for.my disappointment when I find no additional.Ferrari in the next.installment. ur such a tease Terronium ;)

Peace be with you and yours always,
    InfamousPhil

    1. infamousphil

Disregard Terronium… forgot about our friends at FM, who enjoy a much better Ferrari selection than can at GT ;)

    1. DYLAN777-is-not

Not every car is made for corners. Real life isnt like video games where all cars have to take corners as fast as possible. The Bugatti was the first to have a 1000+hp street car. How is that depressing. Its depressing that you cant appreciate shear top speed and power.

    2. kekke2000

Jawehawk, that is your opinion because it is not a fact.

“The original version has a top speed of 408.47 km/h (253.81 mph). It was named Car of the Decade (2000–2009) by the BBC television programme Top Gear. The standard Bugatti Veyron won Top Gear’s Best Car Driven All Year award in 2005.”

  21. Jared93

Why is it that in so many examples or previews of racing games are done with terrible players? Seriously, the guy in the Pagani video is a joke.

    1. oneloops

I agree… PD could show a video with a clean lap and another with a “drift lap” that should improve the image of the game better than mobile drunkish videos… I don’t undestand PD about that.

    1. sangdude82

Yeah, Pagani sounds alright but when I heard the sound of the Z4 GT3, I was like ‘wow’. May be PD gonna save the new engine sounds for GT7 on ps4…

    2. oneloops

I don’t think they will wait to GT7 to change the sounds, because they will recieve tons of criticism and jokes from everybody if they leave sounds in this way…

And that will reduce GT6 sales a lot…

    3. TokoTurismo

^ Just, because of sounds? That’s honestly a stupid reason not to get GT6 nor GT7… For some people? Yes, but not a lot.

    4. HuskyGT

Yep, the sound sample are pretty bad. The Pagani is using the same sample(slightly modified at low revs) of the BMW M5. That is almost unforgivable… they didn’t even try at least to use a V12 sample. The reason why PD does these kind of things will always baffle my mind.

The BMW Z4 GT3 has that same generic race car sample which in my opinion it is terrible in any car and it’s far from how the Z4’s V8 sounds in real life.

The Fisker sounded pretty good actually!

I’m still looking forward for the game as I’m sure it will give me years of fun as every GT title has given me. To be honest, I’m exhausted of criticizing the sounds in GT… If they fix them upon release date, I’ll be happy. Otherwise, I don’t expect any improvement really.

    5. Gyro1780

I hope so too. AS much as i love GT & have done since GT1 i just can’t get excited about GT6 when the engine sounds are just awful.
