GTPlanet Weekly Rewind: The Drive of Your Life

14113250106_d555a3838b_c

We’re on the tail-end of yet another weekend of the motorsport circus known as Formula 1, but I’m not here to talk about this weekend’s outing in Spain. After looking over the calendar for this year I noticed something with a familiar ring to it (you’ll soon see that pun was intended), for on the 22nd of June the circus travels back to Austria for the returning Austrian Grand Prix to be held at the Red Bull Ring, known previously as the A1 Ring and Österreichring.

This is an incredibly fun track that I know like the back of my hand, albeit virtually, but like the back of my hand all the same. It should provide some interesting high speed action, and here’s hoping that the re-inauguration is a wet one because we all know by now that wet race days are usually the best race days.

This extra content is taking some time, it leads me to think that the course maker, new track and Senna content may be bundled together and released as a GT6 version 2 update ? would explain the delay, that would be awesome..cue the happy song ;)

  2. COUNTERSTEER123

It’s been half a year and…nothing MAJOR from GT6. Haven’t played it in months and won’t play it till they surprise me with something. Sooner or later, most of my money will be going towards Project CARS on my PS4 ;)

  3. apexpredator100

Every time Forza is mentioned in the Rewind, a Forza vs GT war always breaks out. I’m starting to think that keeping comments disabled to news articles should have lasted for good.

  4. JASON_ROCKS1998

Why with the Forza and the GT war? Pick a game and play it instead of complaining. The reason that GT is behind is because they promised more than they could deliver much like GTAV did with the online. That is why there is no new redone course maker or tracks yet. Personally i’m having fun with GT6. The handling feels much more realistic than 5’s and the new tracks are brilliant. Hopefully there will be some new stuff in May. I’m sticking with GT6 up to the release of GT7 which hopefully will have 400+ cars all of which are atleast the GT5 premium quality with a career structure like GT3’s

  5. Johnnypenso

Awesome carpack for the Forza boys, not a bad one in the bunch and each one so different from the others, they’ll provide a unique driving experience. Nice to see!!

  6. SDSPOWER01

As always I understand the harshness between PD and the current state of the game now, but I will say and keep saying this a lot of times Polyphony Digital is a small group consistent about 150-200 people. So getting every content/promises will take some time and “patience” is a virtue ( even though I know many people already lost it, it must still be held ). The promised features and update will soon come. As for forza 5 DLC concern, hey altleast they’re next gen right? But I get that many players feel they’re being ripped off with these “monthly DLC’s”. Once again Patience is a virtue! Have a happy day further commentators ;)

    1. MLRSparco

They have more than enough money to hire more people,PD should have a ton more employees than most companies, having so little employes will be there downfall.

    2. SDSPOWER01

The problem lies whether they want to spend the money or not, but I do agree with you they need more. And another problem lies within the console limitations being pushed to the max or beyond. The ps3 simply cannot deliver the things we want that simple due to the tiny amount of RAM it has. So again GT6 is slowly pushing the ps3 to it’s boundaries and we can’t expect all of our wishes to be fullfilled with the current gen. We can expect more from the PS4 as it considered more powerfull. I may not know how the systems work but all I know is 8 GB of RAM (PS4) is way better then 256 MB of RAM (PS3).

    3. sangdude82

I reckon PD can’t afford anymore staff since most of the money they’ve earned goes towards GT Academy.

    1. 550

I don’t think so.. Forza knows well how to impress with better graphics and some different cars. But that’s all.

    2. TokoTurismo

^ Such a tryhard. You haven’t Forza 5 yet, so don’t try to assume that’s all it has…

    3. 550

Yes I don’t have the game but I’ve already played it. While GT6’s arcade,Forza’s Mario Kart. lol

    4. Dagger311

They released most of my favorite cars in this pack. Shame I already bought a PS4. GT6 will never get those.

  7. Swagger897

Aaaaand I just noticed that the tag picture and the body picture are reverse layouts…

    Nice try Terronium

  8. panjandrum

Nice set of cars for Forza. It’s a shame Microsoft didn’t make the Xbox systems compatible with the wheels that work with every other system in the world. Until my very expensive wheels work on the Xbox platform, there will be no Forza for me. Developers take note, I would love to purchase your games, but Microsoft’s policies are standing in your way. You should act to make Microsoft change.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

If you’re talking about wheel compatibility with the XB1, then bear in mind that none of the most well-known modern racing wheels work with the PS4 either because both Sony and MS upgraded their consoles’ USB interfaces from HID to XID. We’ll have to wait until some new wheels come out with support for XID, which shouldn’t be too long.

  9. TokoTurismo

I love how Forza is easily kicking GT’s butt, and that Mazda RX-3! GO FORZA!! I’m sure next month Forza will be getting another free track DLC, hurray! Whereas GT6… Yeeeah…

Most importantly, well done on this weeks Weekly Rewind T12. :)

    1. TeamCZRRacing

How is Forza “kicking GT’s butt?” Sales, nope. Ratings, nope. Updates, maybe. DLC… would you rather have no DLC and have most new content patched into the game directly for free or be robbed blind to even have any mentionable amount of content in your game? Me, I think I’ll stick with the former.

    2. Terronium-12

I’m not advocating for either because they both sicken me with their current installments, but that aside, ratings are wholly arbitrary, sales have absolutely no significance in any customer-side argument/debate and is nothing more than a straw man argument, and as for your DLC argument – have you been to the GT6 forums lately?

    3. TeamCZRRacing

@Terronium Yes, in fact – I browse them daily. Just yesterday I made a post on a thread concerning a rumor that GT6 was going to be ported to PS4. I know that GT6’s DLC has been nonexistent outside of free content updates, but that’s the thing – I am, shall we say, of slighter means than I’d like. And even if I had more money to spend, I’d prefer not to pay for content that the previous game in the series shipped with by default. Each successive Gran Turismo at least includes most of the content that the game before it had (the only exception to this being GT3) and PD/Sony don’t feed it back to you like it’s brand new content. I’d prefer to wait a few months if it means that there will be actual new content for me to buy. I’ll say it again: Forza players are being robbed, which is one of the many reasons I don’t want to try becoming one right now.

    4. Terronium-12

DLC is optional and always will be, however, that doesn’t mean I disagree with your sentiment. You could have jumped on-board for FM3 or FM4 as both had monthly DLC with 10 cars that were 100% new to the series, some of which having been included because the community specifically voted or asked for them to be included.

    5. TeamCZRRacing

@Terronium It’s just a bad time for racing sims right now, with GT6’s DLC and new feature delays, FM5’s ridiculous prices for content that FM4 already had… I call it the “third-gen racing sim curse.” Both FM and GT have been on three successive generations of consoles now, and both have taken a serious hit of some sort during that generation. At least things are looking up with pCARS on the horizon!

    6. TokoTurismo

I deeply apologize for bringing in the GT vs FM into your Weekly Rewind T12, I promise it won’t happen again. :(

It’s just I can’t help but feel fustrated with PD nowadays, I’m very disappointed in them with the way GT6 is being treated and many promises not being fulfilled. It upsets me. Again most importantly, your Weekly Rewinds rocks. :)

    7. ginsunh

Don’t be a fanboy. I own both games, and they both have their flaws. If one suits you more than the other, go play it. Don’t come in here to start a flame war.

    8. TokoTurismo

^ I hope you know you can’t call ‘fanboy’ to someone, you’ll get in trouble so think before you type it out next time. Also, I actually do play both games. I don’t play GT6 anymore because it doesn’t have the Course Maker (which is basically the main reason why I bought it), and because it freezes my PS3.

Plus, I’m extremely unhappy with PD lying to us all with their false advertisement for GT6.

    9. 550

Such a boring guy..All you do here is complain about the Gt6,I’m new here but I haven’t seen any construtive posts by you so far..And I really spend some time on this site. I really think that you should be at Forza forums instead here.

    10. TokoTurismo

*Yawn* If I’m such a ‘boring guy’, why do you even bother responding to my posts Then? Ever think of that? Oh, guess not. You said your new here, correct? Well I was here way longer then you since 2011 and I was a big fan boy to GT once before. Thanks to GT6 and being ignored by PD, I’ve turned a new face and soon I’m sure the same may happen to you with GT7 (if it screws up as well). There’s another guy who faced the same thing with GT5, and like you with GT6, I defended it.

And for your information, I’m here waiting for PD to release the Course Maker, and they STILL haven’t released it yet. If GT7 messes up too, that’s the end of GT for me. That’s one thing I hate the most, is being lied to, and PD did excatly that.

Anyway, I got better stuff to do then argue with others.

    11. Terronium-12

550, I assume you’re more than capable of reading – you see the third bullet point underneath the text box at the very top of the commenting area?

I’ll help you out in case you can’t: “Trolling will result in suspension of your account.”

      Take the hint.

  10. HuskyGT

After seeing these marvelous DLC packs from Forza, I lose interest on even buying a PS4. I know that what Turn 10 does is kinda sketchy because those cars were in Forza 4, but since I’ve never played Forza 4 then I don’t really mind.

  11. Humungus

Oh Forza gets another Car Pack? Nice, I always wanted to pay 10 quid for cars that I already had in FM4.

  12. Makkan786

I believe gtplanet is keeping gt6 alive if it wasnt for this site we wouldnt be playing gt6 at all

  13. Haitauer

this is once again the brief moment i feel the urge to start playing forza. Its not just that Forza got a DLC pack, but look at that diversity! PD is is takin these things WAY too seriously as they usually give us a bunch of hi-tech race cars (read “GT-Rs”). I love the way Forza gives little something for every class.

But four seconds later I feel Im still better off with GT6 – as a whole. I guess its because I just love the physics. One great example is the second part of current GT Academy. I drove it 2 hours straight, lap after lap – restart after restart. I did make a lot of mistakes but thats the beauty of the new physics model. I felt every single mistake and knew when it was a little bit too much power littlebit too early, when it was just a bit too much of entry speed or when it was just plain wrong line for that corner to get the grip or hit the apex. Every time I span out I instantly knew what I had to change to prevent that happening again.

    1. TRLWNC7396

….plus I will never willingly own something made by M$….. So, forza isn’t even available.

  14. DingoDile

It seems like Turn 10 released FM5 with 200 cars and then they sell FM4 cars each month!
Only 2 cars of this dlc werent in FM4.

    1. Haitauer

..good notice. If this is the truth I dont give so much credit of the dlc anymore. Is this the “Microsoft -way”? They really know how to rip off their fans and customers by updates/upgrades no matter which of their franchises we look. Even the GT6 with its new rip offs doesnt come even close to Microsoft.

Is there really so few cars in FM5??

    2. TokoTurismo

At least Forza 5 gets ‘free’ track dlc though, and a ‘free’ Boosters Pack that comes along with it.

  15. MLRSparco

Once again Forza gets DLC and GT6 gets nothing, even when the Senna content gets released I bet we’ll barely get anything,1 car and if we’re lucky a track, smh I regret buying this game more and more each day.

    1. BrunoI_SRE

but as DingoDile said above, it’s like what they did with Twin Ring Motegi in GT5, take it out and make people pay for it, if they did that in GT6 with nearly all the cars (like in FM5) I’d get even angrier than I do about the lack of updates and loyalty from PD, don’t know about you.

  16. tall white79

You don’t have a lot to say because gt6 is getting very stale. Nice forza car packs hay polyphony?

  17. sangdude82

I’ve tried that 2013 BMW M Performance M3 Racing Car and it’s really awesome especially with its braking performance.

  18. CorvetteConquer

Honestly came here to see the Forza car packs. If only PD had more staff, then they could create more content…

  19. Eyes Fried Open

Cant believe im the first one. God i want that RX3 and all the old rotor’s in GT6. as always great rewind T12.

    Keep em’ coming
