    Uhmmm…..Alexander Rossi is one of F1’s American prospects. Granted he’s in GP2 but still….. Americans are on the uprise in European motorsport.

    If I was Jann, I wouldn’t be so picky. If they offered him to do a NASCAR race…he should. If he can prove that he can drive anything, everybody will want him to drive for them. Think of A. J. Foyt, Dan Gurney, and Mario Andretti. They can drive anything. I like Jann, but if he could prove he can drive anything from a Winged (Or Non-Winged.) Sprint Car to a Le Mans racecar everyone will respect him. Just my opinion.

    1. another_jakhole

      Clearly it was a joke more than anything, but if he was offered the chance to do it, I don’t think he would turn it down. Maybe at this point in time he would though. You bring up a very good point, BUT Jann seems like someone who would like to stay in what he’s interested in and Nissan isn’t involved with NASCAR. (about the whiners, “Kaz and GT and NISSAN! DUR DUR DURR!”)

      Jann, as of now, has to stick with what NISMO and Nissan want him to do.

    2. another_jakhole

      More seriously though, I think his career’s going to be more about what he’s most interested in doing. Even if Nissan had a NASCAR team, I don’t think he’d be trying it out any time soon.

      I do think formula one is the best route for him to go. From my viewpoint of his driving style, he has the ability to drive as good as some of the medium drivers in F1 (grojean, maybe masa but he’s not that aggressive) plus, he will get to learn the cars really well, which should translate of how to tell his engineers how he wants the cars set up to do some quick laps…

      He may not be as good as Lewis, but he sounds like he aspires him as a role model.. Which is good for someone who has the skill set of being capable to follow his steps

      @another_jakhole
      It’s not really a bad thing that Nismo has power over what he has to do. It’s good that he has a crutch to rely on for support from a large worldwide fan base. It’s also good for nismo because they can take this GTacademy crew they are putting out, and supply the cars they make to them. It will be interesting to see who drives the new Nismo electric test car that will be in Le Mans (next year?) I really like the design and its technology but I have a feeling it will be overshadowed such as Aston martins hydrogen cell rapid s that was in the same nurburgring race than jan posted. It’s cool though to see it be all electric (and with a better name than leaf) and I’m sure Mercedes will soon introduce their electric AMG SLS (which I garuntee will be that it will be in GT6 either with disc or DLC)

    5. Lawndart

      The US needs an F1 prospect…. Perhaps GT Academy can make one? I can’t think of a single racer in/from the US that would be a good candidate… But with F1 having gentleman drivers now that someone could just buy a seat.

    6. MeanElf

      He clearly doesn’t want to do NASCAR which is fair enough, it’s not for everyone and he does like corners…

    7. JeremiahTB

      NASCAR has corners…usually just four in a row, and left ones, and almost identical, but still…at least two road tracks per year; can’t forget those. That being said, I wouldn’t want to do NASCAR if open wheel or sports cars at the highest levels were also available.

      @Swagger897
      Grosjean and Massa were both dominant in junior single seaters, Jann has yet to show anything close to that in F3. In fact, every driver in F1 right now has shown far more than Jann has in lower formula up to this point. We may rag on Chilton and Van der Garde, but they both have a significant amount of victories against good competition. I’m not saying Jann won’t improve, but you’re very premature to compare him to any F1 driver, nevermind Massa or Grosjean.

    9. Swagger897

      Well he really isn’t even a year into it, so you can’t still compare them yet… Relying on how well masa and others did in f3 and up, he has good prospects of being able to reach. He is not a star, he wasnt born with the ability to drive. No one is. My point being, I assume he will be as good as those two when time comes, because he has a snowball in Hell’s chance to actually get to F1, only because he was involved in the GT academy saga. There’s no garuntee, that’s for sure, but if he were to make it, that’s where the arrow flies.

  3. Swagger897

    When he asks how did he prep for Le Mans… How did he:

    “We’ll it was for damn sure not on Gran Turismo 5”

    1. varmintx

      Actually, if you had bothered to watch the video instead of just immediately posting the first poorly-written, douchbag comment that seeped into your simplistic, little mind, he did actually use GT5 as a part of the prep.

    2. Swagger897

      My main point was that there are no nismo lmp2 cars in the game… My simplistic mind just ran 10 laps around your bulging pebble located some where between your eyes, ears and above your nervous system….

      I’d watch what you would say too… Wouldn’t want your name to be banned no?

    3. another_jakhole

      Jann also mentioned how he prepared for Le Mans in an interview during Spa’s 24 hour race for night racing.

    4. another_jakhole

      Triple post ugh

      He specifically mentioned braking points. I remember him saying for Spa, at least, that there would be trees cut down that were there in GT5 so that confused him at first.

    5. Swagger897

      But your pebble probably wouldn’t interpret that there are up to five categories of vehicles that can only be entered in Le Mans (Test cars if that washed off a grain from your pebble)

    6. Pit Crew

      Yup Jann actually credits GT5, when the interviewer asks, him if he used any “Sim Training” to prep for LeMans. How did you miss that Swagger?

    7. Swagger897

      I heard that part, I watched both videos… He said that for spa, Le Mans, Nurburgring, and he also mentioned GT6 by practicing at Silverstone. The Tarmac changes at apex of chicane 2, to get a rocker chair to feel vibrations that you can’t unless you drive….

      My point was that you simulate what you’ll be expecting in reality in the simulator. There are no LMP2 cars in gt5. CRJ-9 pilots don’t do their simulator hours in a Boeing 737… Sarcasm in some minds is taken as a direct insult to something that never applied to them

    8. varmintx

      @another_jakhole

      I don’t lash out very often like that, but it’s been a bad day and the constant trolling by the people on this site seems to annoy me a hell of a lot more than it should.

    9. another_jakhole

      Been there, done that, so now let’s make a “People Who Hate PEBBLES??? [what the hell?] Club). :D

    10. another_jakhole

      double post – i’ve got to stop doing this

      sarcasm in the way that you did it, Swagger897, comes off as trolling, especially CONSIDERING that it’s constant.

    11. Swagger897

      I think we analyzed this a bit too much and it’s time to move on (for real, I don’t even do good at trolling)

    12. another_jakhole

      Which is why it was sarcasm, because you don’t do trolling. Next time you should think before you think about sarcastically commenting on a Gran Turismo forum full of GT-heads. It’s not fun.

    1. MeanElf

      Alan pretty much always does a good video. I did stop the second vid though at the bootcamp section when they were doing push-ups. What were the instructors doing with shotguns?!

    1. MeanElf

      A_J he doesn’t really have a Cardiff accent, though he was born in Darlington so maybe that’s why. I think he’ll be a driver to watch.
