So… does the AI Rubber-Band to a point where they’re unbeatable just like in the Suzuka Expert Non-Racecar challenge once you overtake them or are they beatable this time around? Does getting plowed into by the AI still give you the “You rammed them because they plowed through you” Penalty?

Last Expert seasonal race was… a cuss-fest for me because of that, so yeah… If anyone can tell me I’d be really thankful. If it’s the same nonsense I might as well know about it than shouting F-bombs out loud at the game’s AI.

This AI is getting worse instead of improving… in spa I lost the race because the dumb AI crash with me in the last corner. I was going to turn in the slow corner and the minolta driver crashed me at 200kmh…. and even worse, he automatically stopped, did the turn nicely and win the race. What the hell PD

    1. BrunetPaquet

Yeah, it’s funny how the AI never gets penalties and that sometimes the player even gets penalized for something he/she never caused.

Might wanna ask that to him in the new Kaz Q&A threads if no one did yet.

    1. BrunetPaquet

Indeed. That’s one of the only complaints I’ve got about the GT franchise… covers up 95% of my rage quits.

    2. Kenny8375

I agree…after drafting the lead car and making a clean pass on the Kemmel Straight, I brake for the chicane at Les Combes, and the car behind me rams me, making me shortcut the chicane, and get penalized for it while he zooms off. Seriously irritating…..

I’ve just done the events, and am confused, I’ll use the Spa race as my example. I gain control of my car after 35 seconds (after having to watch the slow drive round to the line stupidly) by which time 1st is at the end of the Kemmel straight. I get into the lead in the last chicane on lap 3 having gained 35 seconds in 3 laps. Then in the following two laps, both my fastest laps in the race, I only gain and win by 8 seconds. How can they be slow enough that I catch a massive gap up and overtake them, yet as soon as I’m in front they suddenly are able to not lose me? Surely losing 35 secs in the first 3 laps should mean they lose by about 22secs after another 2 but no, not here, so can anyone explain HOW?

    1. MeanElf

Exactly – the special races are like this too, the GT-R and the Ford GT. It keeps you on your toes.

I am appalled there is no way to skip the drive through, it’s bloody long on Spa. Seriously PD cut that mess short, I want to get into racing as soon as possible. In fact why is it they don’t grid start and professional AI for all opponents, would bring back the fun of GT2 racing with AI that gave you a run for your money.

    1. MeanElf

I still recall the Nurburgring one from GT4 (I think it was a license test) where you had to wait at the grid for something like forty-five seconds, then catch up with the slower cars.

I think the long intro thing might be a way of encouraging people to try their best and not just hit restart if something goes wrong out on the track.

    2. TheAdmiester

MeanElf: It’s even worse than you remember. The Nurburgring race shoves you in a Mercedes SLR and you have to beat progressively slower Mercedes models. This wouldn’t be so bad if you didn’t have to wait *123* seconds to start each time.

Brilliant, loving these new A-spec challenges, especially the expert ones. Loving the new ‘human’ AI who make these strange things called mistakes!

    1. MeanElf

I think it’s funny how some seem to have the Watch Dogs junction-itis as they seem to speed up just before certain sharp corners and end up nose deep in the tyres…

    2. BrunetPaquet

It’s also funny when they miss their corner in an open area with large areas of grass and they just end up cutting the corner to recover without being penalized… or it’s not.

IMO it’s absolutely not. Happened to me multiple times.

I was hoping they weren’t going to fall into the trap of “rinse and repeat” with the new addition of races to the Seasonals here in GT6. Although they are similar to the last round, it is slightly different…and for that I am hopeful for more fun and exciting Seasonal Events in the coming weeks and months.

    Keep ’em coming, PD.

  7. Kavey

    Wheeeee, races :)

And paint chips this time. I’ve had every prize chip so far, gotta catch ’em all u’know!

  8. Magic Ayrton

Not tried these yet, but why are the slick tyres so hard to drive on and sound so bad, I mean it takes all the fun away from driving.

    1. MeanElf

Maybe PD don’t want people relying on them, but prefer us to drive with the compound suited to the class. I don’t think I’ve used RS tyres yet in GT6 – they do indeed spoil the fun of driving…

    2. BrunetPaquet

To be honest, Racing Tires are jokes in this Gran Turismo. When driving at 200 Km/h makes them spin and driving them at 150 Km/h doesn’t, you wonder if their partnership with… pfft. I don’t recall if it’s Yokohoma or Toyo tires or whatever, was serious, or if they got fed wrong physics info.

  9. Hentis01

If you look at tge online “event creator” for online racing I wouldn’t be surprised if they use something similar when they make up the events for the Seasonals. Namely Races, Time Trial and drift. If so why cant this be used for an offline event creator. Where it could be modified to include championship races (where you could save it mid race like we do now). Payouts could be the same sort of thing but it could be similar to the event creator that was in GT2.
Hopefully if enough people lobby PD about it, it could find its way into the single player game. Its also a great way for people that don’t play online to get more out of the game as well as being able to utilise the new DLC tracks into a 5, 6 or 7 round championship. I loved that thing on GT2. With also the possibility to save your events and share them with your friends. This would also see the inclusion of tracks from the fabled Course Creator vr 2.0 to be used as well. With a 5 minute qualification period or 10 minute whatever you want. You can do a range of Endurance races or whatever. It would add life to the game immensely.

Race 1: Lancia Delta Integrale, Race 2: Audi R8, Race 3: Audi R18. All done. Next? Bring on the new Goodwood content please :D

    1. MeanElf

If you are going to swamp the competition with an overpowered car, then of course it’ll all be over in fifteen minutes or so.

Do what quite a few others have with the last seasonals, run them again with a variety of cars – that should keep you busy until the next update.

  11. Snaeper

The last expert race was a joke “No race cars” it says.

And the only way I ended up beating it was using the NSX LM “Road Car”

I’d like to say I enjoyed the challenge, but getting penalized for contact with the AI, while they spin me out and ruin my race, is nothing to enjoy.
