Could anyone recommend a particular car for the Expert Level Nurburgring race? I’ve been trying to reach the leader in my Countach LP400, but so far, I’ve only managed to secure third place at the end of the last straight with the leader a good 18 seconds ahead… This seems impossible! Any suggestions?

  2. CeeJay

Just one round of quick matches reminded me of why I prefer single player offline games.. yikes. Bad drivers, bad language.. what a horrible experience.

  3. drag lab 101

My favorite race was on Nurb, I used my Vanquish & the drivers white racing helmet sticks through the roof!
    So life like…
All I needed was feet sticking out of the floor for my “Real Flintstones Driving Simulator” experience to be complete!

  4. GT5 Level 41

Tried quick match last night. 3 racers only in field. The others botched the start. One quit before turn two on Willow. The other one quit on lap two. I finish P1, no one else on track. Race two was about to begin with no additions to my field, resets to 256 seconds until next race. I quit with 18k for 10 minutes of what amounted to a time trial. Cool story brah!

It would help if you could actually enter the Quick Matches. Completely broken for me, haven’t successfully connected once. 100mbps broadband so no issue on my side, it’s getting extremely frustrating.

After my last seasonals rant, this was refreshing! HSR is a snoozer, but slow cars made it fun. AAR Cuda for the win. Deep forest, 96 Elise, also a lot of fun. These were both events where you could push the cars hard and not over drive the course, which makes for great fun. 3 attempts at Nords, in the C7 (sweet, probably a winner with some practice), a Gallardo (slidefest), and the CTS-V (great balance, great sound, just not fast enough..). I do better in FR cars, so I added an Atomic Orange Z06 (with Dark Matte Grey VR G2’s) to try with tonight…

Quick-match is demolition derby with out the sound. I didn’t think it could get worse than some on-line rooms that feature a “F” bomb vocabulary, but some of these drivers are just nuts.

  8. VBR

If they changed the Courtesy Cars line up once a month, then we could make our own 1 Make races in regular online lobbies.

  9. Kavey

Always pleased to have new events, even if they are quite easy. Shame about the recycled paint chips though, they are they only real incentive to do these for me.

Quick matches fail on me most of the time. You have been disconnected from the server, total console freeze ups, etc. Am I the only one? Ever since that Sierra update. Last night, the online lobbies kept dying, and it wasn’t just me. Can you demand a refund when an update makes an otherwise perfectly running game useless? I think I’m one more frustrating night away from moving on to Xbox/Forza.

Now that I have run this race, I understand. It is truly a beginner’s race. HSR is THE beginner’s track, and these are some of the more easily handled cars.

So, It’s not as ridiculous as I first thought. It’s just VERY easy…. ;)

I totally agree with the under 400pp cars race!

And also, a few other ideas for Quick Match:
    – Red Bull Junior (the small 2.0 model, fast and easy to drive, would make some really close races!)
    – Small race cars (like GT300, some LM Editions, Touring Cars, pretty much the same of the Red Bull Junior possibilities)
    – Karts!!! (doesnt need comments…)

    1. JDmsz

Nobody wants to race a slow ass car that takes 5+ minutes to complete one lap. If you want to race 400pp cars, you might as well host or join a lobby with one.

    2. TRLWNC7396

Actually, some of the best races I have ever had were in cars UNDER 400 PP! It makes the driver FAR, FAR more important!

I wish that PD would give us sub-400 PP cars on Tsukuba or another short twisty track. THAT would be incredible!

HSR looks interesting, but….. It’s all about speed, and I’d like something about driving ability that I could keep up with.

    3. another_jakhole

Autumn Ring (Short or not), Tsukuba (obviously), Eiger, London (please no, racing there is worse than Monaco, Rome, Madrid even Laguna Seca. Some of those tracks could be better suited in cars up to 450pp though.

    4. Progress823

Lol, JD thinks 400-450pp cars are slow? I’m wondering has he even tried to tune one? There are many that are really fast for that range.

    5. pitstop3343

Well said TRl, and Progess! I host 450pp rooms all the time, never have a problem filling them up! I have photos of finishes determined by thousandths of a second! JDmsz, c’mon into one of my rooms some time, I’ll teach you how to race, lol.

    6. JDmsz

@opticzero, I actually do 400pp-475pp all the time because that’s all there is in online lobbies. I have about 20 400pp+ cars.

    7. Szuper

450pp car is fast, if not, you use wrrong tires!
First problem is this what PD mean race – 5 lap, is this something joke? Race is +20, maybe +30 laps! 5 laps is 5 minute **** and thats it. And again we wait weeks for next “race” :D

  12. Hentis01

Tried the quick matches last night. The Cote d’ Azur everyone uses the BMW’s which is so boring.
The Matterhorn race is good and close. The Willow Springs 458 race is just a skid and shortcut fest with morons just knocking you off all over the place.

I will try the seasonals tonight.

  13. m8h3r

Nurburgring race looks like it could be fun. Having it start raining and get really slippy by the end of the lap would be interesting too if they could.

    1. Quigz125

I can not disagree with you there. I took my 458 with reduced power to 550PP and I had the most fun lap so far. It was a nail biter all the way to the last corner when I overtook the lead ZZII. Finished with just 0.334 seconds between us. Very fun race.

  14. IBZ6L20VT

Yes! Nordschleife. I know where I’m going to spend most of my playing time next week. I will try to win with the minimum amount of PP and SH tires.

  15. ankehuber

All that time building Sierra, and that arcade overtaking mode, you’d think they’d give us something else to do on it wouldn’t you?

Come on PD give us a few more Sierra trials.

    1. TRLWNC7396

Give people a reason to go there other than the ONE event, and I can see that happening. I don’t go to a track I don’t have an event for, as I rarely, if ever, use arcade.

And not everyone uses it online, either.

    2. GT5 Level 41

Same can be said for the other one and done events. 1 Hudson event, 1 VGT event each, 1 set of Red Bull events, 1 set of Senna events. So much to build on and we get rerun seasonals that make little to no sense instead. This time attack format was so refreshing. We need more on other tracks. No brainer.
