Did anyone else notice that the two 3rd place paint chip prizes are actually the same two chips for 1st place from the last drift trial???

I was kind of excited that multiple chips were offered as I only do seasonal for paint chips, until I’d noticed it was just the same chips from the previous drifts.
    Bummer…

Can’t we get something new or different in that depo?!
I was stoked to see matte purple in the last set of Online Aspec races I believe it was…
But basically I’m tired of seeing the same chips offered when it already seems like they’re basically offering us the same races too.
Not trying to complain, just an observation.

I’m going OT here but: I’ve been firing up GT expecting an update this week. I know Jordan had some expectations along with the rest of us, but nothing! We all know that PD’s communication is virtually non existent. Maybe J. could knock on their door and find out what’s the hell’s going on? Good job I have a car and good weather to play with, but the more fun I have IRL, the more likely I’ll lose my licence!

    1. Scheer

I love VW GTis, had a fantastic G2 with many tweaks. It’s hard to exercise any modern car on the road without getting into trouble these days. Have a TVR which is proper difficult to keep at legal speeds. Got 9 points in a Cerb within a year and had to beg for my licence. It would NOT go slow.. :(

    2. Scheer

Oh, thanks for that, I was just trying to look up who tuned my Golf and I just found out that Brian Ricketts has died. The VW tuning community has lost a genius. His work was awesome. :(

    3. Scheer

      Not really the place to share this but;
“Very sad news. I’ve owned a few cars built by BR Motorsports and have kept an engine he built to go in the last mk1 golf I’ll build for myself when I have a bit more free time. All the cars I’ve had that he’d worked on just felt so good to drive, not just fast but refined too. I meet him on several occasions and found him a lovely chap to talk to who was always happy to offer advice. RIP”

  3. AlexandaHonda

This hot lap was so much fun. I’ve never enjoyed the Madrid circuit until this! They should have a 3 circuit special for this. Madrid, Silverstone and the sandy American lap. I could lose an afternoon driving this car on hot laps. Come on PD wake up and do us a favour!

Hey there. The following comment is intended as a suggestion, not a gripe, as it may appear to be.

Sometimes I read comments like this one and it surprises me that people seem to need to be spoon fed something to do by PD… GTPlanet has around 250,000 members (not all of them active, I know… and not all of them avid TT enthusiasts, I know), so instead of waiting to be given something to do by PD in the form of an ‘official’ TT event, why not create your own event right here on the forum? It’s not unheard of for it to be done this way – in fact, GTP has its very own WRS which is just as hotly contested so this proves it can be done.
Given, there may not be any paint chips or credits awarded but if it truly is the TT itself that you enjoy then just simply create a thread in the Single Races and Time Trials section of the forum – if your event is attractive enough then it will get the interest from other members who will be all too happy to share their competitive lap times with you. I believe a member called SuzukaStar has already done something like this and has TT’d somewhere in the region of 600 cars at his beloved Suzuka track. Maybe you (and others) could start something similar which would be just as welcome in the community.
In fact, I also enjoy the Madrid track so, if it were a car I enjoyed driving, you’d already have one interested participant :)

      Cheers.

Nice haven’t tried it yet but I will. Slightly off topic but I just though of a cool Idea for a seasonal event.
    Hatchbacks vs Wagons
(A 15 lap race at Laguna Seca with a standing start)
    Non-Race cars
    pp limit 600
    Tyre: Racing hard or less
    Tuning: Yes
    Nitro: No
Fuel consumption and Tyre damage: yes
Prizes: Gold: Peugot 908 base car and 30,000 credits Silver: Navy Camo paint chip and 20,000 credits. Bronze: Hot Pink paint chip and 10,000 credits

    1. Progress823

+1 this ^. Seasonal events like this will peak my interest in them; somewhat of an endurance race in different PP classes.

    2. wvmgmidget

Do I need to make you two sit on the couch and hold hands until you’re ready to be nice to each other? Just kidding but seriously don’t lie and don’t insult their mother.

  5. Skullsniper34

I HAVE BEEN A FAN OF GT SENCE 1997 IVE HAD IT WITH POLOY AS A COMPANY IM NOW LEAVING THIS GAME BEHIND AND MOVING ON TONARSETTO CORSE AND RACE ROOM PC OFFERS MUCH MORE AND I DONT HAVE TO REDO A RACE OVER AND OVER AND OVER JUST TO MAKE SOME MONEY TO MAYBE ONE DAY BUY A 20, MILLION DOLLAR CARNIM SO SICK OF THIS COMPANY AND HOW ITS MAN3 POURPOSEMIS ONLY TO FIND RACENCAR DRIVERS . I HOPE THE GET THERE STUFF TOGETHER CAUSE IM NOT EVER PLAYING THIS GAME OR ANY GAME PUT OUT BY THIS COMPANY .

    1. GTFan4ever99

Ugh, here we go again. Everyone here don’t care if you leave, less cry baby whiners to deal with. This is the greatest racing game period and I’m sick of people bashing this game. Gran Turismo 6 will eat Project Cars, Drive Club, and Forza for breakfast because it’s more realistic in every single way. They might as well admit defeat and pack their bags already because they suck. There are enough of us true fans to keep the series going forever and ever.

    2. HuskyGT

      R.I.P Caps Lock!

It’s okay to be upset, but take it easy. I’ve been a faithful follower since the PS1 era and I am too very tired. But honestly, I don’t feel those racing sims can offer half of what GT could offer. Then again, that’s my opinion. Waiting for PCars and Drive Club will do you any good either, because I’m almost certain they won’t be a big of a deal. All I can say is to wait for GT7, and hope for the best. With all the criticism PD has received within GT5 and GT6, I’m wishing for them to learn their lesson, and go back to make what made PS1 and PS2 era GT’s such great games.

      @Scheer

      LOL, so true.

    3. xmarlboromanx

@GTFan4ever99 I love GT as much as the next guy, but to call it the best Racing Simulator is not true, maybe in a way of such diversity and classes with bone stock cars and whatnot. Maybe GT7 will finally be the winner, but as of now Pc simulators knock it outta the park…I can name a few that would blow GT outta the water.Yea GT had 2000+ and you can tune them to some degree, but it lacks quite a few features that if they would implement would be at the top of their game again. GT used to be the standard when it came to simulators and hopefully they will improve!

    4. Magic Ayrton

wow, I am sorry for you, as much as I love AC, I still love GT, and always stop by to see the progress.. remain calm!!

    5. Umbra344

I didn’t read that garbage. If you want people to take you seriously or have any sort of meaningful opinion of you, then you shouldn’t type in all caps.

    6. pitstop3343

Sadly, I do understand what he’s getting on about. I too have been a GT fan since PS1/GT1, and I can honestly say that, aside from the online play, and the community of friends I have made online, I think I would have given up on the GT franchise long ago. Let’s be completely honest here, gents…..there are NOT 2000 cars in GT6, not whent you’ve got 40 versions of Miata, and 60 versions of skyline, etc. This is not 2000 cars, but 100 versions of the same car.
Again, lets be honest, some of these seasonal events are getting pretty repetative. Some are exactly the same, recycled directly from GT5. It’s always 5 laps, rolling start, 35ish seconds behind the rabbit. Yes, it is nice to see the AI finally making mistakes, but is it too little, too late?
I think most of us can agree that GT6 feels a bit ‘unfinished’. If you recall, the support for GT5 at the end of its run felt a bit wanting, we were being told that resources were being allocate to the developement of GT6. Now that GT6 is out, were are being told the focus is now on GT7. When do we get support for the current iteration of the game?
There are so many things that need to be addressed with GT6; lag spikes during online racing (we no longer do races long enough to need pit stops due to the horrible spikes when going into/coming out of the pits). On and on, I don’t want to be just another whinger, but this franchise does need help. Yes, I do still enjoy online racing (when I’m not loosing the network connection), and yes, I do think that this week’s tt events were great (thank you pd….love the Senna car, love the sound of that thing!!!), but please Sony/PD, lets get it together, make the GT franchise the best it can be. Many of us have shown our loyalty, for over 15 years. Give us what we deserve.

    7. Scheer

Pitstop, kinda true. PD have one of the most loyal of fanbases. A real treasure for any developer, and yet PD squander that loyalty through lack of communication or interaction. Imagine how the community would feel if PD gave us regular updates as to what was going on? (No, the PD blog is not enough!) I can see no reason why PD can’t add more proper races to the game. The fact that that they updated the Goodwood sculpture without any new events is utterly absurd! I personally want to have a go at The Stig on Goodwood in a Focus, or Chris Hoy’s hay-munching attempt in a GTR Nismo. Failing that, a shot at JM’s run. Can’t be that hard..

    8. liv4hardstyle

      @pitstop:

Once again its a matter of how you word things around here. Skullsniper34 is yelling the house down (not literally) he is right but how he expressed it can be compared to a kid at K-Mart who didn’t get the toy he/she wanted.

I am sadly realising the truth of the franchise too, the game gets less attention from me these days and I’m an avid follower from day dot. You make excellent points- online has seldom ran smoothly for me when it comes to GT6. As a whole PD have a good game but where they fall down is execution.

This does not mean I will stop playing it, I love it. Would I be happier if PD get on with GT6 rather than focus on GT7, absolutely. Some of us just need to realise that it is in fact out of our control and we have the option to play it or not (by no means am I saying that the fans cannot criticize the game, you can)

I guess what I am trying to say out of this whole rant is that no, the game is not perfect, yes you can be unhappy about it.. just don’t stamp your feet and cry along the way, be a grown up about it.

    9. sayba2th

+ heaps Liv4, so very well put. I like yourself and a few others have been here since the get go and it gets so far under your skin it’s nuts. You have put it beautifully. For me 7 will be the real test. Without all of the PS3’s well known difficult architecture to juggle things around there will be no more excuses for things not being able to be implemented or done correctly we should be able to see what PD really can do.

  6. infamousphil

Under 1:21 from light weight ’07 Skyline. Easy enough. Hope the Senna event will pay for the car. Otherwise… ;)

    1. Scheer

What do you mean, ‘pay for the car’? Why not just win it by getting silver in the Senna event + 500k (1.1mil for gold)? If you can’t do that, you’re probably wasting your time with the TT.

    2. infamousphil

LOL, must’ve sold it. Or probably wasn’t fast enough to gold it ;(

Some of this stuff is hard for me. Which is kinda neat!

    3. Scheer

Ha OK, they were a bit tricky to gold but you get the cars for silver. It’s a PITA as you have to restart the lap each try. The only way I got gold is to free practice ’til my times were low enough. Prizes are worth it though.

    4. infamousphil

Ok, just checked. I hadn’t done it.

After golding the licence tests, I don’t have it in me to do those dang ‘off course’ restarts again. Plus $1m for the kart. I’m still collecting Nissans, Chryslers, Ferraris and their matchups. Next time around ;)

  7. PASM

Yeah, this will be fun! Skid Recovery Forced off, check. Great car, check. Tricky track, check. Tune ready to go, check. Look through the tunes section to find my tune.

  8. Phathead555

Enough already of ridiculous drift trials and super lap garbage! How about some actual racing, y’know like the game is supposed to be about; multiple cars, multiple laps (not timed for 5 minutes), and just race cars. This is turning into some glorified Mario Kart crap with the lame and repetitive so-called “Seasonal Events”. I had a lot of enthusiasm prior to the release of the game, and now we’re just left staring at a beta version with little support because PD and Kaz are too worried about GT7 and GT Academy and not the current iteration as they should be.

    1. OpticZero

I’m kinda right there with you. Drift Trials need to go away, or at least get knocked down a peg or two. The Time Trials are mostly just fine, however they do need a quick shot in the creativity department. Yes, GT6 is unfinished so far, but it is obviously past the beta stage. The bi-weekly races they add should always stay up there like they did in GT5 and not be taken down two weeks later.

    2. HuskyGT

I have to say, Seasonal Events in GT5 were better at some point. In GT6 is that same half-done feeling even in the A-Spec Events.

Something is wrong with the GT franchise. It’s almost as if PD don’t really care about the game or cannot work on it anymore either for technical reasons, or they simply lack the personnel.

I have a sinking feeling it will be the same all over in GT7. Same excuses, same delays, same game breaking “innovations.” If it wasn’t for the outdated cars, I would go back to GT4 or even GT2.

    3. Isho

Just because its lacking some actual races doesnt mean they need to remove drift trials lol… If you dont like it dont do it. You’re not forced to drift.

    4. infamousphil

Of course the drift and time events take away from the race events. They simply get in the way of what some of us want. I cain’t drift worth a dang and am not going to teach these these old arthritic digits to move any faster.

Anyone wanna guess how long it took me to thumb this comment? Slowest of friends, first out of the pits ;)

    5. FranciRus

Drift and superlaps are fine if you ask me (some like drift, some like TTs). On the Race side of things, i would like 6 events total with a car reward for golding all 6 like it was on GT5.

  9. TRLWNC7396

My take on the update has been the following since I heard about it: This is such a big thing, and big event, that they are never going to release it on a weekday. This is because they don’t want to be blamed for people skipping work to play! ;)

  10. Ivan Horvat

Wha-wha-what about the ‘big’ update supposedly coming this week? If it was intendend to be released, wouldn’t they’ve released it today?

    1. NW48

There has never been an update on GT6 that occurs on a Thursday (Japan Time). Most updates occur on a Monday (Japan Time) however the last 4 or so updates have been switching between Wednesday and Friday (Japan Time), so the last update was on a Wednesday (Japan Time) so if the pattern continues then we should see v1.12 this Friday (Japan Time).

    2. scobra1cz

Maybe. But there is no authentic source of information about update will be online this week. Not everything on gtplanet is rock-solid. So…

    3. Ivan Horvat

NW48, thanks for the thorough update analysis, I never tracked the updates at that level, that’s maybe why I’ve got it all wrong.

scobra1cz, I totally agree, a lot of speculation is going on. But it’s just me hoping it’s true :D

    4. Need4Speed685

If it were to come out this week, PD would notify us about online maintenance dates and times.

That’s just how I’m de-bunking the theory of v1.12’s release.

    5. OpticZero

“…the track and Quick Match mode are both set to appear in GT6 update 1.12, slated for release sometime this week.” – Jordan

    6. MeanElf

Not sure how the week runs in Japan, or if that will affect things, but there are still three days to go before the week is done by my clock.

  11. Hastatus

Looks like those who missed out on the last Gold Chrome due to changes made during the last event will get another chance here.
