“Studio” Photo Location Now Accessible in Gran Turismo 6

Gran Turismo 5

Despite the powerful “Photo Mode” features in recent Gran Turismo games, none have provided a neutral backdrop in which to photograph your cars without distractions – until now!

GTPlanet member @Dionisiy discovered that you can create pictures of your cars in a “studio” environment using the web-based community features included in GT6 update 1.14. To generate the image, simply save a car to your “favorites” list in the game, then view and download its picture from your online profile page in your PC’s web browser.

See his instructions here, or follow this step-by-step guide from @cbarbosa. Oddly enough, the studio location does not appear as an actual Photo Travel location in the game, and unfortunately there is no way to reposition the angle of the camera in these shots.

Nevertheless, members are already sharing lots of their own photos, and – as always – you’ll find thousands more in our bustling GT6 Photo Mode forums. Nice find, Dionisiy!

OMG, that’s my Viper! After such a long time, I finally have one of my pictures being displayed on the GTPlanet news! :D

Yeah even though I’ve known about and used this method I too thought based on the headline that it was available in photomode now. I was kinda depressed reading the story to find out it’s just announcing the “unofficial” way of doing it still.

Hopefully PD will actually put it in for us “officially” soon.

I can see this tool being great for GTPedia, allowing for great images for the car guide section of it. In addition, I think this could also be good for series that use base models, allowing drivers to showcase their cars on a series thread.

We could already include photos – if we were allowed to… We don’t have images of the cars because we don’t have any image use rights to do so.

This pleases me more than the last update actually.

Of course I’ve just done a car review for a blog, and it would have looked so much better with studio shots. Doh!

Now this awesome, I haven’t played GT6 in months but I may go back in the game and try this out. I can’t wait to see my Bugatti with this awesome backdrop! Cheers!

Awesome! Been waiting for this! Photo Mode is one feature that seriously needs a refresh. I mean, locations are nice and all, but are way to distracting in my opinion. Personally, I think Polyphony should just stick to neutral backdrops like studios and showrooms (like the one for the BMW VGT is super nice) so that more emphasis is placed on the car itself, and the background doesn’t take away from the feel of realism (it doesn’t look good when the cars look real and everything else looks like something from the PS2 days). I mean, the environments for Photo Mode, especially in GT6, are poorly rendered and have muddy textures and graphics, so I mostly find myself using f/1.0 or f/1.4 to focus only on the car and blurring everything else. Studios/showrooms look much more professional as well, and give an overall feeling of class and sophistication.
