12 Finalists out of 400,000 entrants got the chance to go to Silverstone to prove themselves in Racecamp, now one of them has turned a far off dream into reality.

If you participated in GT Academy 2013 and downloaded the Gran Turismo 6 demo which hosted the competition back in July, you’re set to receive a free car in the full game.

The 2013 United States GT Academy reality TV show is set to premiere tonight on Spike TV, this Monday, November 11, 2013 at 10:30PM Eastern Time, 9:30 Central (check your local listings for other time zones).

It wasn’t over though – the judges were locked away in secret in the Silverstone Wing’s Race Control and took two hours to come to their decision. Any of the final seven would have made a worthy champion and each of the four drivers in the final race made a great case for themselves, but the judges had to pick just one and eventual choose Portugal’s Miguel Faisca as 2013 GT Academy champion.

The international qualification round of GT Academy 2013 concluded over the weekend, involving over 1.3 million total participants.

GT Academy champion Lucas Ordoñez is in Japan this weekend, preparing for his debut in Super GT’s Suzuka 1000km next month, and Nissan has published a video of him discussing driving tips and techniques.

Sony and Nissan have formally announced GT Academy 2013 has received over 1 million downloads worldwide as of July 16, just two weeks after the GT6 demo which hosts the competition was released.

Since the start of the competition last week, our GT Academy 2013 forum has been buzzing with discussion amongst participants from around the world, sharing tips and tricks on how to get faster and move up the leaderboards.

The big day is here, as the Gran Turismo 6 demo launches in the PlayStation Store as a free download (1.1GB) and GT Academy 2013 begins, which will turn four lucky sim racers into professional racing drivers for Nissan.

Nissan and GT Academy are making a big splash at this year’s 24 Hours of Le Mans, with both Lucas Ordonez and Jann Mardenborough driving together in Greaves Motorsport’s LMP2 car.
