“Toyota FT-1 Graphite” Coming to Gran Turismo 6 in September

Toyota_FT-1_Graphite

It would appear that Toyota’s FT-1 Vision Gran Turismo variant isn’t the only thing coming to GT6 next month as a full scale model of the FT-1 concept was unveiled today at the McCall’s Motorworks Revival hosted in California.

This second version of the FT-1, to be called the “Toyota FT-1 graphite” in game will be included in a free update to GT6 planned for September.

Following the unveil of the first FT-1 at the January 2014 Detroit show, this 2nd version was once again developed at Calty Design, Toyota’s North American Design center. The interior of the first model was black with red accents combined with exposed metal surfaces. This model however, is finished in leather with brown edge accents for a natural and refined look. The new interior design which is based on modern day movie superheroes and upscale leather bags shows the variety of possibilities and versatility of the FT-1.

Wow, another FT-1!!! Jesus H effing Christ! When are we going to get some real cars, not these Vision GT cars or these concept cars which have no hope of even getting released in the next 5 years??

  2. jlmcmillan1978

…….and meanwhile an E30 M3 or any other car that the fans are screaming out for is no-where to be seen, but here, have a 3rd version of a car that you can’t even buy yet. Palm. To. Face. :(

    1. jhw93

During the development between GT5 and GT6, PD developed an additional 150 cars (roughly). They will most likely have plenty of new cars ready right now, they’re just not releasing any. Shelving content for GT7.

  3. super_gt

When we will get real physics?
Soon Project Cars will blow away GT6 current physics!
PD will there be some answer of the competition?
    Are you blind?

    1. HuskyGT

Yeah, but what does Project Cars offer other than physics? It’s not about how good the cars feel, you know. And Project Cars is a PC game, so it really doesn’t count as a GT and Forza opponent. The console port will be below expectations, I can feel it.

    2. super_gt

Where is the KW 7-post tuning system?let me guess,we have not received yet because
GT suspension does not work properly like in real world!
And the tire model is weak, there is no tire flex, sidewall flex, the tires behavior is like a solid piece of rubber.

    3. jhw93

Tbh dude I don’t think there is any simulator game out there that simulates tire flex, there’s a lot of complex physics involved in that and I just don’t think people would be able to notice it in a game. You can generally feel a lot of handling characteristics of cars in real life that you just can’t feel in a game and that’s because you’re sat in the car itself. I doubt you would be able to notice a tire flex when all you have for physical feedback is the force feedback on the wheel. To put it kindly, when someone is talking about tire flex in regards to games, there talking out of their arse imo.

    4. jhw93

Wow I am actually very impressed!, I stand corrected. However, I still have doubts about Project Cars though. Shift 2 was a good game but very simcade and that Ferrari Test Drive game they made was an utter atrocity.

You have to remember that GT6 is on PS3 though, its an 8 year old system and would probably struggle with that kind of physics. Kaz said a recent post about improved physics for GT7. Dan Greenawalt claims FM5 has tire flex but I have doubts about how well that actually functions in the game.

    5. xirage faith

I don’t think you even understand the physics put into GT6 or other games. You look at videos and you play yourself, but your knowledge is shallow and unsubstantiated. There’re simulators much better than GT6 but Project Cars is certainly one of the worst for now. Chill man, buy a Cruden, Xsim yourself. pc games are for poor people like us, babies who think we can race and fly

  4. jhw93

I think the FT1 looks quite nice in this graphite colour…. prefer having this to VGT cars. However, I would prefer a new car entirely or a new premium conversion than a version of an existing car that is the same just with a different colour body and interior.

I don’t see why people are getting pissy about it though, it’s free content, it’s not as though you have lost anything. If PD stuck a 3.99 price tag on it then I’d say get stuffed but considering it’s free it’s not doing any harm.

    1. Hentis01

The thing here regarding content, updates or come to think of it. Its the same old people that are always on here complaining all the time and they get oh so upset when people who do jotnthink like them post. I welcome free or paid for dlc whether its duplicated or not. At the end of he day no one forces you to tobuse it.

    2. jlmcmillan1978

Guys we understand it’s free, what we don’t understand is why the same time as what is spent on these cars is not spent instead on creating cars that are not already in the game and people actually want. PD could even charge for that and people would be happy. Why can you not understand that?

    1. AbsoluteBarstool

I suppose what would stop the moaning right in its tracks is if PD charged £7.99 for just this car. We want some paid DLC and very little of it. In a future update. In October. 2015.

    2. kollosson

Its incredible isn’t it, free DLC and it gets complaints, infact the bigger the DLC the more complaints, Trolls pure and simple….

    3. TokoTurismo

Oh yaaaay. We get yet, ANOTHER duplicate, but to some people, it’s okay because it’s “FREE” DLC, even though it’s just the same car with a different colour. Hey, why don’t we get more versions of the GT-R, like say, the 2015 version? While PD is at it, they should have Nissan create them a VGT race model using the existing model.

You guys really need to stop defending this kind of stuff, people have every right to complain about this one so buzz off if you don’t like or agree with their “opinions”.

    4. Scheer

Toko, how the hell is it NOT okay? Please enlighten us. There’s nothing to defend, and nobody’s gonna “buzz off” on your say so. You’re a prime example of “the dilution of the valid”…

    5. TokoTurismo

Oh, and before I really go. If you think having lot’s of duplicates and everyone who complains and should shut up, and be grateful because it’s “free”, than we honestly have problem because it’s another freakin DUPLICATE. You seriously think that’s okay? Please get out.

    6. Scheer

No, but seriously, I understand all the usual complaints. There’s not enough room here to list my own, but just complaining about EVERYTHING is getting a bit stale and after the work Jordan has done to up GTP’s credibility with PD, it’s a bit sad. No wonder Kaz set up the pitstop blog rather than respond here hell, he preferred to throw himself into the Reddit viper’s nest than come on here.

    7. Scheer

There’s already loads of duplicates, many are standard versions of the same premium freakin’ car many times over – that’s what I’d be complaining about. That and the lack of interiors in the VGTs. This at least reflects what CALTY are doing with their concept irl. It could point the way to a new Supra somewhere down the line. Dammit! Now you got me thinking about all MY complaints, you poisonous effin toad!

    8. TokoTurismo

This is not the news for it, but I’ll say it anyway.

The reason why there is constant complaining is because half the community, me included, are fed up with PD’s BS. Think about it. When you look at other racing games and than you look at PD’s two games on the PS3, you can’t help but feel disppointed, annoyed and frustrated because we know Kaz and PD are more than capable of doing a much better job than their latest efforts, especially with GT6.

And the pitstop isn’t helping either. What we want is PD to do is actually communtcate with their fans, not just write this and that, and than not write anything for the next couple of months. Kaz is too sucked in by his fame, and he needs to be stomped on in order to force him tio up his game. I do feel bad for Jordan as well, but it’s Kaz who is creating the BS we’re going through with. His latest interview just pissed off all his loyal fans again because he said nothing new, but what we heard already.

    9. Scheer

Thanks Toko, you’ve explained that well. I’m not calling for an end to complaint, just that it be more focussed and justified, otherwise the valid stuff just gets drowned out by nonsense and trolling. Compared to other developers live stream Q&As and direct forum activity PD have been pathetic. Hopefully they’re learning. We’re all here because we know what GT should and could be and it isn’t right now. Hopefully that will change, and hopefully PD will listen to this forum, but with so much random negative noise about -everything- they do I wouldn’t blame them if they didn’t. That’s the point I was trying to make.

    10. AbsoluteBarstool

Toko, the thing is; people who defend or give no *censored* about the sort of stuff we’re receiving actually have lives and/or other games in their possession. Gran Turismo 6 is part of a unique series of games and is itself an expansive game. It features the most cars of any game in history and a hell of a lot of tracks. It doesn’t matter what we get – it’s still an addition to a product that we paid a not too bad amount of money for. A new copy costs less than a new copy of Call of Duty, for *censored* sake. I as well as anyone else know that a number of features that were announced to be included on the BD were kept back because of any of a number of issues or because they simply weren’t up to scratch.

39 tracks. 83 individual layouts. 1228 cars including variants. By rights that is a huge amount of content to get through and I for one appreciate the effort and idea behind it. By all means criticise the game for what’s wrong with the content and features we already have but please, don’t moan about updates being delayed or not getting the content that you yourself wanted. It almost drives me to depression to see people throwing this much of a strop over a GAME. You didn’t pay much for it and it’s really not supposed to constitute your entire life.

Just bear in mind that I spend more than 8 hours a day using my PlayStation 2 and 3 and I’m not much bothered about what comes out, I’m just grateful that I’m not paying for it.

Now, get yourself a nice cup of tea and watch a nice DVD/Blu-Ray. Calm down and re-assess the whole context of your complaints.

  5. GregOr1971

Got to love It , when people that ussually can’t write anything else than same old “copy&paste” whinning posts (= duplicates), start complaining over PDs “duplicates” . Keep on guys, you’re amazing FUN™boys :D

    1. AbsoluteBarstool

You know what I’m going to do? I’m going to buy a copy of Forza Motorsport 5 and then I’m going to leave it lying on the side. Just for the *censored* sake of it.

  6. NT_03

I actually kind of like the interior. Hope it stays in GT for a very long time, not like the Frozen Black M4.

  7. Imari

    Good lord, more duplicates?

Clearly we are one step away from each colour counting as an entirely separate car. GT7 will have 10,000 cars.

  8. lpardelha

once more complaints and whining, turn to insist on this concept can be a sign that the car may move to production.

who knows if it will not be the successor to the Supra!

  9. GBalao888

‘Dat interior. I love the interior on that thing. One more thing I hope for this car: to have an upgradeable engine and changeable transmission settings.

  10. HuskyGT

Yep! This is exactly what I was referring to… Is it really necessary to say anything? Somehow I feel they are doing it just to mock us.

  11. Isho

Im in shock… A duplicate of a car that we’ve already received but now with a different paint. Are they even trying?

    1. HuskyGT

I saw this and I stared at my computer for a good five minutes. Then I started laughing out loud, and finally I end up crying.

    2. jlmcmillan1978

Husky, I couldn’t have put it better myself! :) So let’s put this into perspective. We get the FT1 concept, a cool car too & free DLC (“Thanks PD, Awesome!” :) ). Then comes a ‘new’ Vision GT FT1 (“errrrr….what?”) followed by another one with a different paint and interior scheme (“WTF!!’). Now I get what people are saying, it’s free so why complain so much? Well we complain so much because the time spent modeling 3x of the same concept car is time that could have been spent modeling an E30 M3, an RS500 Sierra, & a MkIV Supra, & that people is a free DLC that everyone is screaming for. No one is asking for these concepts!!!!!!!

  12. wvmgmidget

We already have a FT-1 and a race version already coming but that’s none of my business. (Sipping Lipton tea)

  13. Eyes Fried Open

I dont know why it takes a month to chuck a coat of paint on the thing. Give me the paint chip it’ll be done in a couple of minutes.

    1. SZRT Ice

Lol @ “chuck a coat of paint” :D

I kinda agree, but the interior is where much of the work was done. There may be other cosmetic tweaks we don’t see. Kinda makes you wish there were more cars in GT that allowed you to pick, choose, & customize the interior to your own liking…

  14. TokoTurismo

Are you serious!? Now we’re getting duplicate versions of this car!? No Ferrari LaFerrari, no McLarn P1, no new car at all, just more versions of this car… I don’t even.

    1. aSaNG

Oh TokoTurismo you are not a car enthusiast. ;) You know we need PS2 cars and duplicate versions of cars to drive the same car in different colors. But the important thing is we have millions of cars in the game. Quantity > Quality

    2. fatkid

      @aSaNG

I thought GT6’s ai was already “disabled”? Maybe they can have special stickers displayed in their windscreens? :)

    3. kapnk006

It won’t be a duplicate in my garage if this release allows for a fully adjustable transmission upgrade. That will allow for a completely different driving experience IMO.

    1. HuskyGT

Is there a reason not to? For crying out loud, is this even serious!? PD is now just trolling us! How can someone defend this?!!

      @Toko LOL!!!

    2. SDSPOWER01

Nah nah I’m not defending I just know that there would be complaints :D that interior looks great but I’m also getting tired of duplicates tbh -_-

    3. SZRT Ice

Actually, I’m slow. I wasn’t expecting this post to get responses so soon so I didn’t refresh the page. I was laughing in response to you saying “Defenders be drinking their Defenderade. >:)” Friggin’ hilarious man…

    4. SDSPOWER01

Never thought I would get alot of replies like this XD. Gran Turismo is becoming the real duplicated driving simulator.

    5. Aussie_HSV

I see nothing to complain about, or a need to defend, or that PD is trolling.
It’s a premium road car, with the almighty detailed interiors that everyone always wants.
Not only that but it’s possibly the only car with a choice of interiors.

Do the seasonal if you want it, or don’t if you don’t.
      Not really a big deal.

    6. Scheer

Really? There are plenty of valid things to complain about but a makeover of a premium car isn’t one of them. It’s not like they had to do that much work for this. It’s not like we’re getting this instead of an E30 M3 or a Pantera or the P1. It’s free, it’ll be a tiny part of an update and you need never even look at it. *takes sip of Defenderade*

  15. jhw93

Well this is much better than the VGT stuff, at least this car has a real life version and isn’t essentially fiction. Nothing against VGT just doesn’t do anything for me.

    1. SZRT Ice

VGT are future design concepts that could one day see production (or at least they are supposed to be). The Mercedes has 5 on the way, the BMW seems doable, the VW has a real life prototype, and the Toyota is a VGT that wasn’t labeled a VGT at the time that is actually a VGT. They’re likely the only ones thus far (that we know of) that is seriously considering putting this vehicle into production.

  16. hardvibes

    Another duplicate of the FT1…

    yaaaaaay I’m so happy

And we still don’t have cars like

    Alfa Romeo 75 V6 biturbo
    Alfa Romeo GTV6
    Alfa Romeo Montreal
    Alfa Romeo 33 Stradale
    Alfa Romeo Spider Quadrifoglio Verde
    Aston Martin V12 Zagato
    Aston Martin
    BMW E90
    Bugatti EB110 SS
    Ferrari LaFerrari
    Ferrari F355 Berlinetta
    Ferrari 250 Testarossa
    Koenigsegg (any)
    Maserati 300 S

    yaaaaaaaay

And many historic cars still looking like crap and not converted to premium

    yaaaaaaaay

  17. SnakeOfBacon

Looking forward to driving this on Circuito de la Sierra… I was hoping the track would come before September though… Who knows? Maybe September will bring v2.0

    1. SZRT Ice

I wish people would just stop talking about this track. Not having any definitive info on it and the course maker are source for my immense frustrations and annoyance with Kaz/PD. And that’s not to include everything else that’s missing. I could do without people talking about it for a change… No offense to you or anyone else as it’s really PD that is to blame… Ugh, it’s just pointless…

    1. swynder

Well it´s free but what does it matter beeing free if it´s basically a car we already have but in a diferent colour?

    1. SZRT Ice

You’re not, but it would be much better if we could just paint every car in the game to our liking… -_-

  18. ElGreco

Since the last update I can’t start playing GT . The game stops at the installation point . I erase all the game data and download it again all night but when the game starts and goes at the installations screen , and say that 20 seconds remaining , again it freezes !! What else can I do ?? Maybe a format at the hdd ?

    1. sumbrownkid

Try reinstalling the game. If that doesn’t help, then burn 50 Fiat Pandas to the driving gods and hope it will resurrect your GT.

    1. vr6cas

Also, these one to two month teasers is getting pretty old and stale, a one to two day teaser would be more appropriate. I wouldn’t mind a one to two month teaser for a car dlc that has the top ten to twenty cars and tracks on the suggestion list. And also the original FT-1 was basically a Vision GT. On the real, this game should have been called-Vision Gran Turismo 6! Lol:)

    2. vr6cas

Yes VGT is the premise behind GT, but it shouldn’t be is what I’m saying. Real world cars should always be the main course, Visions should be more like the dessert. Source for the FT-1 Vision is granturismo.com and the GTP forum.

    3. SZRT Ice

Yeah, but that was their plan going in all along. We have approximately 4 more months of this so get ready… Hopefully, people find a VGT to be happy about. I’m looking forward to Nike’s, Jordan’s, and Lamborghini’s next…

    4. SZRT Ice

Quite possible. It’s also possible that certain manufacturers are waiting to see what comes from other developers before releasing their own. I just hope no one backs out or that we don’t end up with an incomplete list…

  19. ghostrider135

Ugly car vs all the other things GT6 is missing, I think I’ll go with the majority on this one, What is the point of this car ?

  20. swynder

Kaz understood our complaints of having 50 Skylines and Miata´s… He´s gonn give us 50 variations of the FT-1 now.

  21. ildd

so we’re (basically) getting three versions of the FT-1, but PD has failed to give us a diesel rotary 6×6 Civic? WTF PD, pull it together!!!!!1!!!!1!1

    1. SZRT Ice

Same car with a new trim hardly calls for it being labeled as a new version. It should just become an alternate color/interior package in the paint selection, as it is with all other cars that have alternate colors & interiors. Just another wasted car slot to me.

  22. TeamCZRRacing

INB4 someone complains that this doesn’t look at all like the FT-1 VGT even though this isn’t the FT-1 VGT.

    1. TeamCZRRacing

What I’m saying is that I wrote my comment to preempt people complaining that this isn’t the FT-1 VGT we were “promised” and holding it against PD.
