Audi Ruapuna Expansion Pack Now Available for Project CARS

The first track expansion for Project CARS is now available across all platforms and introduces Ruapuna Park International Raceway, premier racing facility in New Zealand. The expansion extends the game’s already impressive selection of tracks  and includes the following variations:

  • Ruapuna Park GP
  • Ruapuna Park Club
  • Ruapuna Park Outer Loop
  • Ruapuna Park A Circuit
  • Ruapuna Park B Circuit

The expansion also includes three brand new cars, bringing three of Audi’s legendary racing machines to the game including the 1989 Audi 90 IMSA GTO, Audi’s R8 LMP900 Le Mans winner as well as the company’s most recent Le Mans champion, the 2014 R18 e-tron Quattro.

I’m done paying for dlc, what happened to the old days when you payed for a game once and that was it. This micro transaction crap should be made illegal. If I keep buying dlc at $5 a pop I’m going to end up paying more for this one game than I did for my PS4.

    1. Johnnypenso

Even with DLC, games are cheaper now than they have ever been. Had it been easy to create and distribute DLC back in the day, they would have had it back then too. Things change, you adapt.

That little A1 is an absolute ripper to drive, really fun slides- easily caught with 4 wheel drive. Only problem is it’s outgunned by most cars in its class. I’m just not good enough through the bends to make head way on the straights. Nevertheless, I haven’t even tried the remaining audi’s due to the A1’s fun factor.

A New Zealand circuit? Fantastic. Hampton Downs is my local, but this is a great start. I may just have to get a PS4 one day… For now, back to GT6.

To all of those fan boys who rained havoc on me for saying they wouldn’t charge for dlc …. I present to you a $5.49 fee

If it’s fan funded and you’ve made all your cash + and fan funding the second game why not use some extra cash made to provide free dlc ? If not, won’t that persuade people to buy the game so they don’t have to fork out cash every time you cough a new idea out ? Resulting in a boosted profit in any case ?

Anyways that’s just my take think as you will. Just another man’s opinion at the end of the day

There will be both free and paid DLC. When everything is free you tend to get less of it and its often stuff you don’t really want. See: GT6 DLC.

    2. Johnnypenso

There will be both free and paid DLC. I have no trouble paying for quality work. I do it every day in my non-gaming life and never expect anything for free.

    1. TomBrady

That would be nice but at these prices, I really don’t mind there not being one. Not every game can offer incredible season passes like Driveclub has.

Bahahaha, as if Slightly Mad is getting my money.

Not while they’re still banning users from their forums for raising serious issues and asking to crowd-fund for PCARS2…

    1. Tenacious D

Banning people for bringing up legit issues isn’t what I call being a good community leader, assuming people aren’t ranting like they do here. I also have to wonder about crowdfunding a supposedly “must have” racer. Is it not flying off the shelves, like Shift 2 didn’t?

Eh, who knows. I do know that every developer would love to be as rich as a certain Japanese racing game maker, but your game does have to be complete and fairly bug free at launch – where have I heard that before? I guess we’ll see how things go. I’m still torn over P CARS. Don’t have a PS4 or The ONE! yet, don’t have a PC robust enough to run it properly, and I’m just not fond of one or two make races. Forza 6 is tantalizing, but the price of admission is pretty steep – way more than $800 for a whole MS based racing rig including wheel and a year of Live!

Would kind of like to support the new Simply Mad guys, but… decisions, decisions…

    2. TomBrady

Well then you’re just making yourself miss out on content. Why do you care about their forums unless you want to play their game?

Just don’t help them crowd fund pCars 2 that’s all

    3. nocturnalgrey

@TomBrady – Personally speaking, I not only avoided the whole crowd funding, I did not purchase the game new either and bought it used.

@Tenacious D – Last time I checked, no, Project Cars wasn’t a huge seller, although I think it sold roughly 1 million copies across the PS4, PC, and XB1 (combined).

    4. Johnnypenso

1 million copies in one month on 1/10th the budget of GT5…for a pure simulator with no car collecting, no economy, no 1000 car roster, no car upgrading etc….just pure racing. I’m very confident that SMS is ecstatic with those sales figures.

  6. TomBrady

Awesome. I hope they keep the DLC’s going. Hope they add more road cars and maybe more classic F1 cars. Would love a 50’s era F1

  7. Johnnypenso

Really nice to see a track that’s little known in the sim racing world, make it to a major game. And to include the Audi’s in association with this track and all 5 layouts is a nice little touch that makes it super special.

    1. Korza

Audi has nothing to do with Ruapuna Park. You’ve confused the name of the DLC as being the name of the track.

    2. Johnnypenso

There are four courses in New Zealand that play host to the “Audi Track Experience”, one of them being Ruapuna.

  8. thegt500

The noise the IMSA GTO 90 makes makes my gentleman’s sausage tingle ;-)
The wastegate chatter gets me every time. Thanks SMS….

    1. TomBrady

Yea North American PS Store is painfully bad. They take forever to update, and constantly have issues too. Last week or the week before, the store was down for like 5 hours. SCEA sucks
