Bugatti’s Vision GT Project Noses Into View With New Teasers

Bugatti-Vision-GT-Nose

While Bugatti’s Veyron is famous for its top speed, it seems the company definitely knows how to move slowly when the situation calls for it. Starting earlier in the month, the House that Ettore built has been tantalizing fans with sly hints, a rather notable person driving one of its historic models, and finally confirming its inclusion in the Vision GT project. Since then, it’s continued the flirting, posting two more teaser images on their official Twitter.

Above, we see what appears to be the vertical component of a large, complicated rear wing, with the colours of the French flag just visible in the bottom right corner. The image at the top of the article, tweeted by the company earlier this morning, shows even more. A sizeable carbonfibre splitter sits below a pointed nose, replete with canards on the side. A tow-hook implies this will definitely be a racing-inspired concept more in line with the Alpine or Lexus offerings than the program-starting Mercedes.

Bugatti has yet to comment on what might be powering this car, but the smart money is on some variation of the Veyron’s mighty W16, perhaps even working alongside a hybrid system, as we’ve seen on many Vision GT cars so far.

Don’t expect something as wildly out-there as the wheeled, active-aero peacock that the Tomahawk X was, though. Bugatti design chief Achim Anscheidt did stress the authenticity of the project with the announcement last week, even commenting on the “fantasy” aspect that the Vision GT project has produced. Quite what Bugatti has in store then will remain a mystery, at least until Frankfurt next month.

Fingers crossed for detailed interior and that when it’s released it won’t banned from every online cruise lobby.

  2. TheEvstar93

I hope it’s the same sort of thing as the Aston Martin was. That particular body style would fit Bugatti rather well I think.

  3. Hibino86

I’m sorry, but this is not exciting me at all. I understand that Polyphony is working towards making GT7, but why promise things that aren’t concrete? Where is the course maker? Where are the monthly DLC tracks? These fantasy cars are a joke. Most people want the promised features.

    1. Tenacious D

We all want the promised features, but if you don’t like GT6 as it is now, all the promised features in the world won’t make it any better. This is also a memo to all the other complainers.

      #play-games-you-like

    2. RodSk8Dude

And if you DO like GT6 as it is now (not that you DON’T care about those other things), then these are just adding more to a game you love.

    3. Tenacious D

Well, we’re gonna get what we get. We can’t make wishes come true.

And I know that this probably gets old with some of you, but whatever the team can implement in GT6, will be tons better in GT7. And I’ll say my little speech one more time, you guys will like it a lot more too, so if you think about this logically, you should want PD spending as much time as possible on getting GT7 to us in as massive a state as possible as soon as is feasible. It will rock much, much, MUCH more than anything done for PS3.

    4. Johnnypenso

If you think about it logically, GT7 is a minimum $500 investment and since we paid for and are playing GT6 and GT7 likely won’t be released for a year or more, we’d like PD to continue working on the game we’ve paid for, instead of abandoning it in favour of the shiny new thing. Logical right?

    5. SZRT Ice

With that logic, Forza should still be focusing on Forza 5 (or dare I say Forza 4) instead of FM6… RIDICULOUS!

Gran Turismo is a first party flagship Sony title. GT7 should have been a LAUNCH TITLE! I and many others who have already purchased PS4’s should not still be waiting for GT7. And GT6 is currently outdated to me. It would be great as a remaster or something, but “would be the point? Every GT is a remaster of the previous, so just bring along 7 then!

If PD kept working on working on the game we paid for instead of “abandoning it in favor of the shiny new thing”, we’d still be playing Gran Turismo on PlayStation 1!

You’re sounding mighty hypocritical compared to your defense of the PCARS 2 announcement a month after PCARS dropped…

  4. SZRT Ice

PD must be showing these manufacturers something magnificent to get them all jumping on board like this. Nay sayers are seriously missing out on the bigger picture if all the can come up with is “fantasy” this and “Ridge Racer” that. Couldn’t be further from the truth, as every one of these bad boys is carrying a symbol and representation of a true to life car brand. Companies like Bugatti, Mercedes, BMW, etc. aren’t so reckless with their namesake to be throwing it around at just anything for any reason. The VGT project is big, and is a digital confirmation of partnership with Kaz/PD, stating “we’re in” for future projects and ventures with Kaz, PD, and the GT Series.

As of right now, the silence is deafening. I seriously can’t wait until the next GT game/project is revealed. I can imagine the pandemonium…

    1. Tenacious D

I am in 100% agreement with the above posts. Like that’s a surprise. ;D

The Vision GT project is so new and unorthodox, I doubt most people even understand what’s happening.

And as I said before, GT6 is unfortunately a game born old to start with, made with old tech on an outdated console which is unable to deliver all the game wants in performance. I do have some of these other games to play with, so I “can” wait for GT7, but I don’t particularly want to. I want to see as much of my vision come to life in Gran Turismo, as I think I’m in close harmony with Kazunori-sensei.

    2. Johnnypenso

“The Vision GT project is so new and unorthodox, I doubt most people even understand what’s happening.?” Hardly. Most of us don’t care is what’s happening. We are gamers, we care about what appears on our monitors and what we can do with it in the game. How it fits in with the other content. Can we see it on the street? Can we buy one? Does one of our friends/family own one I can drive? We understand how ground breaking the program is when it comes to the relationship between car manufacturers and a game producer, that just doesn’t carry enough weight to carry the DLC content for 3 or 4 years.

    3. Tenacious D

Wow Johnny, you must live in some neighborhood! The most stupendous cars I see on my streets are newer Mustangs and older Corvettes. ;D

I know that the naysayers are particularly turned off that the only DLC we got in GT6 other than the Ayrton Senna stuff are these “fake” Vision GTs. And yes, a few of them are powered by Elven magic, which seems a little silly even to some of those who like them, like me. That doesn’t help their cause with the grumps in the balcony seats.

But these are real designs made by real car manufacturer engineers and designers. Some of them actually work in real life. I can imagine a scene of you meeting some of them, but somehow I can’t see you asking them if they ever did any “real” work. ;D

Car manufacturers don’t just make these concepts in their idle time for the hack of it, they spend some cash and time to study them and the feasibility of them, what their performance would be if they were built, how they would drive. I know you have no great love for Gran Turismo right now, and it seems not much regard for Kaz or PD. But the Vision GTs are unique in both automotive and gaming history, whether anyone thinks so or not. And gamers aren’t well regarded for their sense of history.

    4. Johnnypenso

Completely missed the point as usual. We all understand how unique this collaboration is, it’s not rocket science to get that. It just doesn’t interest many of us from a gaming/driving standpoint. They aren’t production cars. You can’t see them on the street or the race track. You can’t drive them or watch them race. There’s nothing to relate them to my real world or the real world of other gamers so to most of us they are just a curiousity. Go to the popular GTP car wishlists, sort them by popularity and find the first fantasy or concept car on the list. Get back to me in a couple of hours when you find it. VGT’s have an “ooh and aaah” or “wow” factor but not much more than that. They are curiousities and will always be so.

    5. SZRT Ice

There’s a flaw in your argument JP. How can a new car introduced into the game make a wishlist for the game it was revealed to be in?

And what of new cars just released to the market? I don’t see La Ferrari’s or P1’s driving around my town regularly. Doesn’t keep me from wanting them in GT.

And just like the Chiron (which hasn’t been revealed yet), there are VGT’s I’d like to see in real life as well. If a car company shows you a design of a car to be released in the future, can you not be excited for it even though it’s in it’s concept phase? I mean, realistically. What PD is doing with the VGT Project, isn’t new to GT6. The GT-86 had multiple concept variations before arriving where it is today. And the BRZ & FRS are popular as ever. The GTR had numerous concepts in GT as well as the R8 and other cars in GT I can’t think of atm.

Regardless. Not everyone shares your sentiment. I don’t need to see a car IRL in order to want to drive it. Most super/hyper cars are a fantasy to me anyways, so VGT’s fit the bill in that regard. And considering the fact that they are designed by real life car companies/manufacturers and not some outdated arcade videogame company, they hold much more credibility and increase the possibility that we could very likely see modified realistic real-world variations in the future. That fact alone allows me to relate VGT’s to the real world. It both excites me and keeps me looking forward to what’s to come, and I and many others are glad that PD gave these companies a platform to showcase future tech, designs, and concepts, well before any finalized production decisions were put into effect. So when/if any of them do see the production floor, we can say we drove them 1st.

In fact, I can see a future where car companies do consumer tests in this form to see what’s designs and concepts are most in demand before finalizing a design and putting it into production. That way, customers get the cars they want the way they like, and have influence even in the design process. But that’s forward thinking, and beyond the norm. So obviously, it’s not acceptable until put into practice. But this is definitely a start imo.

    6. Progress823

Can we see them on the street? Certainly not the Tomahawk and its variants, the 2X, the LM55 (perhaps on a track one day and not just atop the the statue at Goodwood), the Alpine and its variant (on track as an A450). However, some the other VGT models, yes. In fact the AMG VGT was made in limited production (see post on GTplanet from 2014) of five units; it also spearheaded the production of the AMG GT and even a limited production speedboat. The VW VGT GTI could easily see production because it’s just a modified GTI. Same with the BMW VGT as it’s just a modified 2-series.

Damn near pressed the buy it now button on Xbox one Forza 6 edition.. I am getting such an itchy finger now.. :)

So many scraps.. so many disappointments.

    1. SavageEvil

buy it and be done with it, no law against having many racing games to tickle your fancy. I got a lot myself.

    1. SavageEvil

No one is forcing you to use it, options and decision making. Kind of like why coming in to post on something that you aren’t interested in at all in the least. Internet has increased the wealth of complaining by magnitudes no one would have been able to comprehend for centuries to come.

  6. BrunetPaquet

Nice car… Looking forward to that. Also, disregard all the crap I’ve said about GT6 in the FM6 “Is this the end” thread, people. Dunno what took me.

Sadly I’m afraid the car will be banned from most lobbies because it’d be too powerful.

I know, it’s not gonna as amazingly fast as the Tomahawks or the Chaparral (Go ahead, call me a fool because I like ’em for no-PP-limit-lobbies. Like I’d care.) but still some people might say it’s another Ridge Racer Car or something then kick those who bring those cars out in a lobby.

Cheers. Still playin’ GT6 after all. (Damn Tourettes of mine…)

  7. rhine9

Really looking fwd to this car, thought we should of had the ‘super sport’ years ago considering its the fastest car on earth! Bugatti creates amazing road cars but this is going to be in a new league, this is going to be my favourite VGT car for sure ? #hurryupEB

  8. celtiscorpion73

While some don’t care for the Vision GT cars, I personally like them. There is a great deal of work and research that goes into every vehicle and, although some of the concepts are still hypothetical, it gives auto makers something to strive for. They may not be the most utilized in the game, for me, I drive them with anticipation of a potential real-world vehicle in mind. To see a car with such awe-inspiring technology become a reality and to think that we got to drive it in a virtual world at the early stages of development is nothing short of wonderful. To me, that is what the VGT project is all about and I’ll be happy to see and use each model whenever I can.

    1. Tenacious D

There are some wonderful Vision GT cars, at least for me, as I dig the heck out of the more traditional cars. The VDubs and BMW are fantastic, as is the Toyota FT-1, especially the racer. I’m hopeful that the Bugatti will be one of the saner cars and be less than 600PP, so it could conceivably race against the Nomad Diablo and Ford GT LM.

Seriously looking forward to this beastie’s appearance, and taking it for a run around Zahara.

  9. wingman1659

The second picture it’s from the ground looking up at the wing. What you see in the picture is the wing endplate. (F1 inspired)

  10. racezilla

I hope they’re going for something like the older models. I always hated the Veyron, it’s just a re branded Nardo, which looked much better.

  11. sirjim73

Can’t wait till we nose what the rest of the car looks like. I just nose this one will be good. It needs to handle well though, otherwise it’ll put the community’s nose out of joint again. I can just smell it. I’m not great with race cars personally, but a new Bugatti of any variant is not to be sniffed at. Ok I’m out…

  12. numbnuts70

I’d rather an old EB110, Type 57, T35 or even one of those cars that have won that car show that Kaz always selects from.

These concept cars get driven by me once in the TTs to win them, then they’re straight back in the stockyard.

Complete waste of time, more classics please.

    1. sirjim73

Love the classics too. It’s a shame they don’t have more races of their own in career mode or seasonal events to use them in. They’re not competitive in many of the events. That’s why dedicated classic races suit them better.

Personally, I have more fun in a lower pp classic car than in a 650-700pp race car, though I’m not sure the majority here agrees.

My hope is that the ties that PD are making with the VGT project means they will have access to more classics for gt7. As well as new cars of course. A good mix would be nice.

    2. Tenacious D

I’m coming from the subject from the other direction. I’m just not into classic cars like I am the modern ones, so give me the Vision GTs. Although like sirjim, I’m also not a fan of the bleeding edge of speed. I love race cars too, but give me cars more in the 450-600PP range to make my tail wag.

Still, one thing I won’t turn my nose up at – darn it, I said it ;P – is a Bugatti race car. Thank you sir and I’ll have another. Maybe it can compete with the FT-1 racer.
