The summer break is nearly over and Formula 1 returns to the mighty Spa-Francorchamps. The longest circuit on the calendar, Spa regularly throws up incredible and unexpected races, just what we need in this season of incredible and unexpected races! The last race in Hungary was such an odd one with so many outlier results that every half-season report seems to have had to ignore it. Will Hamilton and Verstappen return to their massive title fight, and which of the Mercs or Red Bulls will be quicker around the circuit? Will the Ardennes weather throw another massive spanner into the works and can we get away with a weekend without another massive crash at Raidillon (That tyre barrier is far too close to the track at a blind corner)? The only way to find out is to watch the BELGIAN GRAND PRIX!

Lewis has been tearing up old carpets from the 70s again:

I honestly don't mind the coat, top and pants. Those shoes, however...:ill:.

At this point, seeing what odd clothes Lewis shows up in has become one of my favorite parts of an F1 race weekend.
One of these days we're going to discover he lets kids in hospices draw what he should wear each week, and we'll all feel bad for making fun of it.

But until then, he looks he has DID and the two competing personalities are Mr. Motivator and Big Ted from Playschool.

I've always been a fan of Lewis, but he's had some wild outfits over the years. I wonder if he's only allowed to wear Tommy Hilfiger and chooses the ugliest stuff they have.

I just think we're seeing an evolution of Lewis' fashion style, and eventually he'll fully embrace the whole George Clinton/Bootsy Collins Funkadelic vibe. Also his car will be referred to as 'the mothership'.

How has he done the rear-right there?

Let's hope engine #3 is okay after that hit, because otherwise he'll need #4 and #5 before the season ends and that'll be two races from last.

According to my son who walks around the track it looked liked the rear wheel(s) blocked suddenly and Max was a sitting duck. Max was also investigating the rear of his car after the crash for longer time so it seems he is/was also surprised by this failure

So, those tickets I managed to get hold of for the Saturday at Zandvoort?

Yeah. Those are tickets for tomorrow.
I did something similar at an IndyCar race. Got some tickets from a co-worker, and was so excited for the race that I barely looked at them. I went to the race Sunday, only to find out they were tickets for quali the day before 😑

I was more impressed how much gravel he managed to chuck onto the track. Rarely seen that much.
That's a result of the recent water flooding in that area and also the track itself. They had to 'refill' the run off areas and threw in thousands and thousands kilos of fresh 'grint/gravel'. Not much time to have it 'dig in' by natural 'erosion'. It slides around the track everywhere.

Ah, that would explain it. Meanwhile there has been a very nasty accident at Eau Rouge & Radillion again, W Series this time. Caused by a slippery track it seems.

Session has resumed so assume everyone is OK, but not 100% confirmed yet.

I woke up last night at around 2~ish with a sneaky suspicion that something was wrong, retraced my steps of the day, only to figure out that nothing funny had happened. So the only thing left to check was those tickets. I immediately recognised the track on the ticket not being Zandvoort.

If I didn't have that weird feeling I would be looking silly next Saturday in Zandvoort.

I was just about to post that. That last crash as the footage sped up bought back memories of Hubert.
Yeah, I think the speed was significantly less thankfully but a T-bone is never pleasant.

On another note it's good (well, not) to see it's not just F1 they direct with ridiculous levels of zoom. That shot of Powell going through the last chicane is absurd. Can't even see the corner.
