Fanatec CSL DD: Entry Level, $350 Direct Drive Wheel

Hopefully Barry from SRG - my "go to" channel for the most detailed reviews out there. I know what he thinks of something will be almost identical to what I will think of it.

    Symdeck racing simulators

Thanks for the reply. I did regularly check the ISP-based spam folders for the first couple of weeks but not after that (only checking my local mail client). It is possible that had the reply been more than a couple of weeks after my enquiry and it had hit my ISP's held folders, I could have...

Fanatec CSL DD: Entry Level, $350 Direct Drive Wheel

Well I think the "belt" was possibly a cable of sorts but it was obviously still a "belt" in the same way you have a "belt" than runs a CVT transmission in a car. They did use the term "cable" in the joystick definitely - I remember reading about it and I owned one of those too. I never actually...

Fanatec CSL DD: Entry Level, $350 Direct Drive Wheel

No, it was officially called the "Wingman Formula Force". Built like a tank. There was also a belt driven companion force feedback joystick. https://www.pcstats.com/articles/61/index.html

Fanatec CSL DD: Entry Level, $350 Direct Drive Wheel

I've been watching this thread with great interest even though I am very happy with my Clubsport V2.5 and have no plans (or reason for that matter) to change. But this change in direction of technology at the lower to mid tier reminds me of my earliest simming days when at first it was the gear...

    Symdeck racing simulators

I thought I might point out that a couple of months ago I emailed your company (Symdeck) to obtain a quote for a cockpit setup including shipping but never received any acknowledgement or reply. That was via the email address shown on your contact page. I actually wondered if you had gone out of...

Fanatec BMW GT2 wheel force feedback quality

Not to worry. I found a few reviews and other comments about the steering wheels and in my situation probably better to stick with what I have since they all mention the loss of feedback detail and that is something I do not wish to compromise upon.

Fanatec BMW GT2 wheel force feedback quality

I am very happy with my Clubsport 2.5 wheel base and have no intentions (for a very long time) to replace it with anything else. When I bought it a couple of years ago I purposely bought the X-Box steering wheel for it - due in equal parts to its cost effectiveness versus Fanatec's "high end"...

Going to a more rigid wheel mount...being careful what I wish for?

Well as follow-up I have just purchased the RS6 cockpit (latest version including the upgraded pedal mount). I also bought an Ergotron wall mount so now I have 100% flexibility on a single monitor setup in terms of size and distance from my eyes but just as importantly not going on the rig...

Going to a more rigid wheel mount...being careful what I wish for?

The single central post on the RS8 is actually surprisingly solid. I've taken footage when driving from the side and virtually all the up / down movement originates at the two bolt mounting point and not the arm itself (though there is obviously flex if you try hard enough). Not saying that...

Going to a more rigid wheel mount...being careful what I wish for?

Here is the upgraded wheel mount on my RS8 Mach 6. As you can see, teh wheel mount itself is excellent. The let down is that it mounts to the RS8 arm extension via only two bolts (there is no other option as there are only two holes and no ability to make more unless a whole new plate is welded...

G29 Brake and Throttle Pedals making weird noise

They sound normal to me and I turned the sound right up.

Going to a more rigid wheel mount...being careful what I wish for?

Well yes, I would want more detail or perhaps dynamic range is a better description (not that I have anything to complain about with the excellent Clubsport 2.5) but not at the expense of anything else. I just fear this upgrade might be analogous to those people who buy the top model of the...

Going to a more rigid wheel mount...being careful what I wish for?

I've been very happy with my Clubsport v2.5 wheelbase and X-Box steering wheel which I have mounted on a Trakracer RS8 cockpit. When I first bought this cockpit two years ago I was very disappointed with the wheel mount though. Quite frankly it was really awful and relied on nothing more than...

Formula E Bans Pro Driver After He Hires a Sim Racer to Impersonate Him

I think you will actually find in the majority of cases, it is actually their job. The modern racing driver is paid to do a lot more than sit in the cockpit and drive. Sponsors and teams / manufacturers would consider sim racing under formal conditions (real world sponsors, etc) would be an...

Their sponsors might have a thing or two to say about that.

Formula E Bans Pro Driver After He Hires a Sim Racer to Impersonate Him

It was only a matter of time. No way to cover off all the checks and balances needed in real life competition. I'm now waiting for someone to drive under the influence of drugs that would otherwise not be permitted in real competition.

RACE 07 - car sound audio format?

Hi, Does anyone know what the audio format is for cars in RACE 07? There seem to be two types of car sounds in this sim - the "regular" WAV files (easy), but then there are other files with a ."WAV" extension which are completely unknown to any audio decoding or decompression software I have...

Question for Fanatec - Clubpost 2.5 maintenance

Thanks Dom. I don't believe I implied Fanatec did not monitor other forms of communication but thank you for the reply.

Question for Fanatec - Clubpost 2.5 maintenance

Hi, Just a question to Fanatec as I know they monitor these boards. My Clubsport 2.5 wheelbase is a year old now. Still obviously works perfectly and feels new still (as I would honestly expect it to though). But I was just wondering, does it actually need any ongoing internal maintenance like...
