What are the possibilities of extracting the music from MUSIC.DAT and/or STREAM.DAT?

To get at these files, you'll need a program called jpsxdec. This can look at various music file formats, including the STREAM.DAT and MUSIC.DAT files.

    Modding and restoration discussion

You're welcome! I've made a small error in the Sample Settings area, and this has now been fixed to be more accurate. I really should proof read more better, haha.

    Modding and restoration discussion

Hey guys, here's a tutorial to guide you through making a custom sound file for cars. This tutorial will only cover replacing sounds, not adding new ones, since that's a more complicated matter. This tutorial will also assume you know how to open a .vol file as well as compile one. Images will...

    Gran Turismo 2 Sound Modding

I mostly cracked the sound format a few days ago. GT1, GT2 and GT3 can use the exact same files from one another, and it'd work 100%. Might have to do some renaming first though. Here's what I managed to find out. Starting Variables 0x000: ENGN Header: 4 character string 0x004: Start of File...

Xenn's GT3 Research Topic (Might not be 56k friendly)

Yet another early menu graphics lot for you guys. This one is from the Go Race menu, with some intruiging stuff inside.

Xenn's GT3 Research Topic (Might not be 56k friendly)

Hey guys. Here's some more older graphics found in GT3. This stuff was found in the Japanese version. gt_mode.101.pmb: This is the main GT Mode screen. gt_mode.301.pmb: An early Car Dealership.

Xenn's GT3 Research Topic (Might not be 56k friendly)

So I figured out how to decompress images from various files in the GT3 demos, and final game. Here's a look at what assets were available in the OPS2M demo, of the GT Mode.

Another port. Surprising this actually works. Now to look into the Mustang.

Oh, the body is easily able to be ported, definitely. The issue is also porting the different parts, like engine, chassis, etc. The OPS2M demo doesn't have any specifically for the SVT Cobra.

Xenn's GT3 Research Topic (Might not be 56k friendly)

This may be a little tricky, because of differing data whenever this car shows up. In the OPS2M demo, it's meant to be replaced by the SVT Cobra R, and has none of its own data. I'll see if any other versions has its own data for the SVT Cobra.

    Insane AI glitch in GT3

I think there's a corruption somewhere in the physics. The AI car sometimes goes at incredible speeds without even touching the accelerator. At least, that's what I think is happening.

Xenns Cheat Device Codes (Includes demo codes!)

Just curious, what happens if you change the code from 30 to 80? D00950B8 0017 800950B8 00xx Try that one, placing the track value where the XX's are, as usual.

Xenns Cheat Device Codes (Includes demo codes!)

10CC is the edited value, so 1000 is the default amount the game normally applies. In decimal this is 4096. And yes, FF is the highest grip available. I just realised these are power multipliers. I've corrected it to rectify the mistake. The order the cars goes in the data, is as follows...

Searching For Evidence of Hidden Things

I'm thinking, because of the buttons graphics, it would possibly be an audio description of the car selected. Similar thing in GT5 in the Japanese versions, though I guess this idea wasn't used until then.

I should note that if anyone has codes made by me, they can be freely shared. I don't require any permission whatsoever for anything to be released.

Searching For Evidence of Hidden Things

Modding GT2 further is definitely not out of the question. We'd need to figure out how everything is handled, including file offsets in the game, etc. If we're to add and expand, we'd have to figure these things out first. A dedicated editor is also a possibility, but that would require a lot...

I used to have that No.53 demo disk, not sure if I still have it now. I'll have a look around tomorrow.

Here's some more maps for you guys. tahiti_test_short L_test1 Judging from the tahiti_test_short map, it's probably a safe bet tahiti_test6 is a duplicate map of another track. I'll take a look into which one it is soon.
