Currently tracking 4 Incident Reports

We have at least one prize winner with a racing incident being investigated by the stewards. This may, obviously, change the order of the prizes to be selected. All winners are asked to refrain from making selections until the Weekly Steward's report has been posted.

The target deadline for the Steward Reviews, this week, is Wednesday night by 10PM Eastern. The Steward Summary will be posted as soon as possible, following completion of reviews.

:@: SNAIL Stewards, please make your way to The Incident Review Scoring.

The IR Submission Form is now closed.

Here's this week's view through my viewfinder:

The scenery in the topless Miata was stellar. Apparently the tight racing was popular as combo 1 made the cut, even though I voted it 'off the island'. 😗

The closest finish of the night. I'm a distant 3rd, but had a pretty good view of the battle between @JamCar0ne and @Oshawa-Joe for 9 of the 12 laps. JamCar did a masterful job of holding on to 1st until a last corner wobble produced a drag race to the finish. Good stuff guys.

4 wide tends to be contra-indicated, at least for the outside 3. 😁

Our 2nd closest finish of the night. I was focusing on a cute girl in the stands when I took this. lol

@Mac1032763 and I may not be able to participate this Sunday night. It's likely we'll be without power, cell, and internet service after the storm for a few days. I'll keep everyone updated if I'm able, but if you don't hear from us that'll be why. On the plus side the storm has weakened since the other day and is taking a more southernly course. Good luck to everyone and have fun.

Update on us Florida Snails.
Mac10, I, our families and friends are all fine. Most of us are without power, me included. We do have cell service still. I spent today cleaning up and fixing the road with my skid steer. We had downed trees, washed out roads, and some vicious winds last night/early morning. I've heard that it's 2.6 million people without power, so might be awhile before I get it back.
If possible, we will be there for Sunday night. Not likely for me though.

Prize A

Car: Gran Turismo 125 Shifter Kart
Tires: SS
Track: Kyoto Driving Park Miyabi
Time of day: S01 Sunset
Time i got on track was 0:44.864
Credits to buy from Gran Turismo Dealership: 10,000 credits.
PP: 557

I tried the shifter on Suzuka East but was going to spin out to easy on the course along with Tsukuba. Tried Northern Isle but wouldn't have alot of space to pass. Miyabi provides a short track, plenty of room to pass back and forth and enjoy.

Niagara's Weekly What I saw Column
20241006 Edition:

A little late publishing my column this week. Work asking a lot out of me this week and it'll be the same next two weeks.

@Worst_Driver - Awesome that you were able to take a pic of your real car with the same backdrop of a scape that is in the game.
@radliffracing , @Mac1032763 - Happy you and yours are safe after the week you've had. Your Snail community was thinking of you guys.

Smaller than typical grid in D1 last Sunday with only 6 drivers but still an enjoyable evening. Looks like D2 had 9. Snail Spec Racing does not require pit-stops in their races but that didn't stop some drivers from heading into them anyhow.

Combo#1:
I don't think we managed to get through the 1st lap in either race without our group being split up. I saw @DublDee lose his grip early in C1R1.
SHARE_20241010_0707270.jpeg

But I also saw get his position back shortly afterwards with a 2 for 1 pass when @Dragonwhisky and @Kgffy also lost their grip.

In C1R2, lap 6, I was giving chase to @Kgffy . For a driver that uses a controller, he catches his car quite well when in trouble, (he did so in Combo 3 a lot this week). But on this occasion, the battle was lost and rather than hitting the concrete tunnel wall, he opted for the pits.

The story of Combo #1 was as usual, @Worst_Driver and @Nicktune battling for the checkered flag. They both put up crazy lap times in this one. I lapped it quite a bit with @Oshawa-Joe during the week and it paid off with two 3rd place finishes.

Combo#2:
A group shot of our small grid in Combo#2.
SHARE_20241010_0835060.jpeg

@DublDee got caught looking at Mount Fugi and missed his T1 braking point.
SHARE_20241010_0835330.jpeg

This led to some additional difficulties and ultimately he decided to head into the pits.

Where he joined @Kgffy .

Combo#3:
This combo was voted off at the end of the night ending a run of 3 or 4 weeks for this Honda NSX GT500.
After a rare slip off track, @Nicktune recovered and made his way back into the action but periodically got stuck behind slower traffic.

Small grid but great grid.

I hit the wall really hard mid way into C3R2. I got back on track for another lap or two and then for no reason, the paddles on my rig stopped working. As I was trying to get it working again, I hit the pause button, which then got auto-pilot engaged to get back on the track. I didn't want to be in anybody's way so I decided to leave the track. Thankfully it seems fine now.

Wishing my fellow Canucks a Happy Thanksgiving. Because of our holiday weekend, my status is set to probable for this Sunday.

Thanks for your patience.
See you at the Car-Show.

Prize B pick: The NSX is going to Spa. Default time default weather. Sorry I don’t have time to run a mid div lap time.

Also, I too won’t be able to make it as I have friends from out of town staying at my house. Its been a pretty busy couple of months that kept me away from SNAIL more than I liked. I’ll probably be able to come back full time after canadian thanksgiving.

Mid division time for the NSX at Spa is 2:12 for a 7 lap race.

Edit. Anyone struggling to control the kart with a wheel, try the controller. It's far easier and safer to drive vs a wheel at 240 angle.

I haven't used karts in years, so everyone probably knows all the tricks. Please share as it's new to me. Found out when using the wheel, somehow it is easier in cockpit view vs bumper. Gonna try VR tomorrow.

Any tips?

Anyone happen to nab a PP for the Honda?
NSX is 808 PP

Hitting curbs with kart will have it spin out or lose control. Fun to drive once you get hang of it.

That and moving the wheel more than 1/4" either way makes you crash. Its a lot easier and safer with the controller and its hidden stability assists.

Did some laps earlier and here is what I found:
Kerbs..you can ride them occasionally, but it is risky
Brake and down shift in straight line, keep the weight over the rear axle

VR is nice. Guarantee you will be trying to move your legs to see all the cool linkages and stuff. Found it a bit odd that the fuel does not slosh about in the tank while corning like you would expect.

Did you find VR with wheel more stable or safe?

Probably the most interesting 3 combos this week and I'm busy eating turkey.

And it was killer at Eiger.
