Great night of racing yesterday in D1. I'm glad to be back. With summer, aka mountain biking season for me, coming to an end I got more free time. Pleased to see a bigger grid like we had back in GT Sport and I noticed an improvement in lobby stability which is much appreciated. We are just missing the grid settings now to get back our standing starts, but the rolling starts are doing the job.

@Showery_thorn, first time racing with you, I must say I had a lot of fun fighting with you on the track especially at Mount Panorama. You got great racecraft and I look forward to racing with you in the coming weeks.

Special thanks to @Timlour for hosting again. Its always a pleasure racing with you !

Here are the unofficial results from our league night on September 18, 2022

Click here for this season's points standings and click a tab at the bottom for more detail.

Click here if the data linked above has already been archived and you would like to view it.

Division 1
  1. Nic-KL ------------ voted to eliminate Round 1 - 88 (104.37 for Prize A) SEE NOTE BELOW
  2. GTP_Worstdriver --- voted to eliminate Round 3 - 86 (102.00 for Prize C)
  3. Showery_thornO ---- voted to eliminate Round 1
  4. Timlour ----------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  5. Xrad-11 ----------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  6. RacingChamp30 ----- voted to eliminate Round 1
  7. Phlano_099 -------- voted to eliminate Round 3
  8. EvoSpec10 --------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  9. Kgffty ------------ did not submit a vote
Division 2
  1. Canoworms1 -------- voted to eliminate Round 3 - 94 (76.52 for Prize B)
  2. Flyingdisc315 ----- voted to eliminate Round 3
  3. RizlaTML ---------- voted to eliminate Round 3
  4. ruggermole -------- voted to eliminate Round 2
  5. Skills_19657 ------ voted to eliminate Round 1
  6. cesarr64 ---------- did not submit a vote
The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA) '89 (SH) at Deep Forest Raceway - C02 Late Morning (7 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @Nicktune wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.
PLEASE NOTE: Since @Nicktune has already won Prize A this season, he is ineligible to win it again until next season. This means that unless he loses Prize A due to incident reviews, any driver who competed in Division 1 on Sunday night will have the opportunity to suggest an entirely new car and track combo. I recommend that all D1 drivers from Sunday night start TESTING combos they would like to suggest. That way, you will be ready to post a good combo when @JLBowler gives the "all clear". It's important to mention that a good combo will not have a car that hits its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft). Also, please be sure to only suggest one combo. Any driver who suggests more than one combo will automatically be ineligible to suggest any combos at all. Please don't let that happen to you. Only suggest ONE combo (but not until @Nicktune is confirmed as the Prize A winner).

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - Nissan Silvia spec-R Aero (S15) Touring Car (RH) at Mount Panorama Circuit - S05 Afternoon (6 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @CANOWORMS1 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Worst_Driver so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and/or tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select must not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in a draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to choose the Integra Type R as your car selection, post "Honda Integra Type R (DC2) '98". If you want to select Monza for your track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". Being specific helps us to update the lineup accurately and also helps avoid any confusion among the drivers. Also, please be sure to list the HP and Weight (LBS) of any car you select. For track selections, include the time of day (e.g: 09:00 Clear) or else it will be left to default.

Car Selection Guidelines
See Section 3 of the SNAIL OLR, Policies and Guidelines.

Track Selection Guidelines

This week's prize winners are clear to make their selections. Good racing!

The IR Submission Form is now closed.

We have no incidents on file.

@Nicktune is a repeat prize winner so if you raced in D1 this week, you get to make one suggestion for Prize A. You suggestion must be made in this thread. You should use the full name of the car and track you are choosing. You may not edit your post to change your suggestion. Deadline to make a suggestion will be Wednesday at noon ET.

@CANOWORMS1 If you should choose to use the freeze, you will be a repeat prize winner and that prize will go over to a vote from D2. If you choose to pass the freeze to @Worst_Driver then you will make the choice of the car or track on your own.

D1 drivers that can make a suggestions are as follows: @Worst_Driver @Showery_thorn @Timlour @Xradkins @racingchamp30 @Phlano099 @EvoSpecX @Kgffy

All prize winners will be added to a conversation that will contain instructions and deadlines.

Prize A Suggestion
BMW Z8 ‘01 (RH tires) @ Trial Mountain Circuit S03 Dry Cloudy and Pleasant. Time of day: Evening

After I tested my combo, I Went and had a go at the online time trial with the Nissan Z. Very fun car to drive on SH tires, someone should suggest or pick that car soon, we didnt race it yet. I’m still keeping my Z8 suggestion though and I really want to race on Trial Mountain, one of my favorites. Fingers crossed for a return of Grand Valley to complete the original tracks holy trinity.

An update on my investigation re: modifications and effect on PP. FYI only. While I'm mainly here (Snail and GT7) to race I do purchase liveries for my cars, invariably with modifications to the body work, all of which can be removed in 'GT Auto', with the exception of 'Wide Body', which seems to be irreversible. But GT7 is about more than just racing, it's also about making the cars look good, otherwise I wouldn't be shopping for liveries.

Recently I started a thread on GTPlanet, "BoP and Effect on PP". This is some of what I found.

GT7 Online Manual:

BoP/Tuning Forbidden
Choose whether to enable or disable the "BoP (Balance of Performance)/Tuning Forbidden" setting. When set to "On", the weight and power of participating cars are automatically regulated to make their performance relatively equal.

- This doesn't address the bodywork issue directly.

Responses on GTPlanet:

Turning BoP on for road cars removes all performance gains from spoilers and other parts. It basically resets the car to factory spec and all modifications become visual ones only.

"Hey,
it's only what I have observed over the times now. When you take a road car with all aero parts applied and have it fully tuned to a lobby that has the BoP turned on it'll be reverted to its stock power and weight figured and will perform the same as a completely unmodified car. PP values for example also turn the exact same*."

* I modified the Eunos Roadster again which changed it's PP. This increased PP remained the same when I opened a lobby with BoP turned on.

I had hoped to see something from a source closer to GT7, but I didn't have any success. I'm not in a position to state policy, but I read this to mean that if a purchased livery has applied modifications they should be removed. I immediately go to GTAuto and reset all parts back to stock. Again, simply FYI.

Mazda Roadster Touring Car at Trial Mountain Circuit Sunrise 7:35 @JLBowler

There is a discrepancy in the time of day for combo 1, should be "Sunrise". Or is "7:35" taken to be "Early Morning" vs "Sunrise"?

You are correct. Thank you, Combo 1 should be Sunrise.

I missed it, and made an assumption of time of day based off of 7:35.

I will make adjustments to Combo post in the morning

Note:Sunrise to me would be around 5

If an add-on changes the PP of the car, it's not going to be allowed in SNAIL. The only reason we have BoP on is to be able to use the tuning prohibited setting.

The whole idea of BoP is to make performance equal. All downforce parts are brought back to same for everyone in the lobby when BoP is on. This means that parts that affect “PP” are negated with BoP ‘on’. It is concerning esthetics only. Certain items like engine work will result in the car not being eligible when BoP is on.

It's being discussed. In checking things out, it's been discovered that changing the diameter of the wheels does change the PP of the car and BoP does not reset that.

As is the case with SNAIL, any changes to rules are made at the start of a new season so in the meantime, follow the existing rules.
