Because Ascari is a private track, owned by the members of the exclusive Ascari Race Resort, it is not governed by the FIA and the kerbing is not painted in the regulatory red and white that they would be in an officially sanctioned track. If these kerbs were painted red and white we would automatically consider them as part of the track despite being outside the white line.
The way they are designed means that to stay within the white lines the driver has a very narrow angle of attack and I, like others, can foresee alot of problems with cars overstepping the boundries if they don't approach the chicanes cautiously enough. I can only imagine the nightmare it's going to be at the start when a full field of cars converge on that 1st chicane jostling for position to take that single line through.
I will abide by whatever ruling is implemented but I agree that a pragmatic approach to this would make sense. The video that Fizzer posted, and others easily found, illustrate how those managing the real track have dealt with the situation.
@zer05ive Holy smokes batman! Post 1 in BB Code is a mess, when copied into notepad. I could be a week getting this all worked up.
So now that PD is probably working feverishly on GT7, I wonder if Kaz is kicking himself in the butt for all the development money spent on rushing an unfinished GT6 to us when 90% of what was given to us in GT6 could have been released as an update to GT5.
As it is, this will probably be one of the shortest lifespans of a GT product in awhile if GT7 is released as early as the end of this year. I'm almost positive Kaz is probably a little furious that it has turned out this way. And we are as well now that GT7 may come sooner than we thought.
@Dragonwhisky D1 replays are uploaded.
I'm willing to bet there's about a 5% chance that GT7 comes out this year. When has PD ever met their "best case scenario"?
Even if it's early 2015 we are still looking at GT6 being only a year and a half old when it goes obsolete. With no hope for any real updates to fix the issues while they work feverishly to beat Drive Club to market.
I have learned my lesson with GT5 and GT6, I will not be buying GT7 until it has been out for several months. Then it will be debugged and will be on sale.
Hello fellas as of right now my racing tonight & Sunday is up in the air I was hospitalize yesterday afternoon with iregular heart beat not sure if I will be home today or this weekend. Thank god my wife was home because I would have died yesterday. All I remember is feeling dizzy & bam I passed out.
Time to lay off the smoke and drink and red meat. Hope you feel better, I know how scary something like that can be Pichon.
Do you guys think they could fix gt6 online? Because rit now that's the only thing holding them back in my opinion. The rest of the game is great fun
Dude, take care of your self. Everything else is secondary. Hope you have a speedy recovery
Yes smoke a pack a day I don't drink that much at family events most of time
I'm glad your still around man I enjoy raceing with you take care of yourself we will be here after get better
I was over a pack a day and now use the above. I feel 100x better, BP went down, cardio endurance went up, taste/smell came back, and there was practically 0 withdrawal.
Take care of your immediate health needs, but look into e-cigs to get off the cancer sticks. I've quit a dozen times using other methods, but always went back until I found e-cigs a couple years ago. Have to get the good ones though, the junk they sell at gas stations and malls are not as satisfying and way too expensive.
Damn, I hope your ok. Take care of yourself Pichon and we will see you back soon.
D8 photos would be up but my laptop seems to not load the post box
he man hope you get better
Can anyone tell me what this new little blue icon is by my credits I have a 42" and can still barely see it
It's your login bonus.
It's the number of consecutive days logged in for the login bonus
Edit: damn it. ninja'd
Oh ok thnks makes me wonder how much wasted programming time that took
While practicing yesterday on Ascari, it seemed to be very obvious that the Chicanes were going to be an issue. It occurred to me that there seems to be a preference for tracks that allow passing opportunities. Making the cement in-bounds would afford more passing opportunity on this track. Having fun and becoming better skilled being high priorities, imho, seemingly would be better afforded by having the cement included in the track. Having them be out-of-bounds is like a bad situation waiting to happen. It seems like it would just lead to forcing people to become very involved with problems that occur and also might upset the natural nature of SNAIL racing itself which in my very short time here I can only imagine also wants to minimize conflict and adversarial situations. It is its own challenge and racing skill to be aware of where your wheels are in relation to the edge of the track. One member rode along in my car while I tried to stay in bounds at these chicanes. I was honestly very surprised that my conservative approach to them was still resulting in him reporting that all 4 of my wheels were STILL outside the lines in a couple of places. And honestly I was completely taken by surprise just previously when he brought up the fact that I was violating the lines at these points on the track. I had not even thought to question my line through the chicanes, it seemed so natural to drive them the way I was. I would quess that this is going to happen to a lot of other drivers. On the back chicane just before the tight sweeper it really makes it, imho, inordinately un-flowing and slow to do the extra weaving that would be necessary. Tracks seem to have a natural rhythm that you find as you practice. Including the cement as in-bounds seems to flow with the natural rhythm. I vote that this situation be given a reconsideration and a special dispensation. As one driver was reflecting in the practice yesterday, there are going to be a lot of people sliding off the track at Ascari. This fact alone might cause a higher number of incident reports. Ascari is already an unusually challenging, slippy track that seems to be kind of like Willow springs in having a higher number of places that you can slide off the track, let alone having this chicane situation in the mix.

My question is: how are we going to know if people are cutting the chicanes in qualifying? I know we should all be on the honor system, but lets be real. There will always be cheaters.
The track was chosen and a ruling made about out of bounds. Let's try to focus on that. There is a reason many people have not been looking forward to this track being used. But it has been chosen and we need to adapt our driving to suit the ruling. People who fail to do that will get penalties. Don't let that be you!
You can see lines on track now during qualifying that represents the drivers. So you can see who is cheating now and who isn't.
Only if you are behind them when it happens.
Get better pichon. You are In my prayers
Patterns repeat and the cheaters will surface.
Here is a picture of my racing setup now that we have multi monitor.
