Because it's the weekend and it's only 1am here. I'm actually about to go run some laps on some of the combos, haha. Been up working on that CG McLaren MP4/4 I started a while back. I'll have to post an update soon!

Actually now that daylight savings has hit, I might just call it a night instead. I'll practice tomorrow.

    Hello SNAIL drivers :)

The club I race with is in a bit of a pickle at the moment and I was wondering if anybody here could help.

For our next season we will be running a spec series, forbidding tuning and upgrades.
The season will run for 7 weeks, with roughly an hour's racing taking place on each race night.

At the moment we're trying to find a car (or two, if two can be found that are equal in performance) that is {a} fun to drive, {b} accessible for both wheel & pad users and {c} can sustain interest over a 7 week period. We've looked at about 20 cars so far, but nothing has really hit the mark as of yet.

Since SNAIL is the place for GT6 Spec Racing, I was hoping that somebody here could suggest a car or cars that we should look into.

Any input or help would be massively appreciated, thanks in advance :)

It may depend on the kind of cars your group ran previously, but if you look under "previous combos" or "race history" on Page 1 or with any week's results announcement, there is about 3 years of data... And there are drivers with wheels or pads in all divisions, I believe.

I know the Lotus '96, the Silvia RM have both hung on for some time, and the Rocket is potentially great, depending on the track. Maybe the BMW CSL or RUF RGT. There are many good ones, but it is all based on what you want - if your group loves Kei cars vs NASCAR, you will have very different views on which car is right for you.

    Thanks for the response.

I remember seeing a spreadsheet before which listed how many times each car was used in SNAIL competition but I can't find it right now, care to share a link if you know it?

For reference, our last season was a Super GT500 series with tuning, and before that we ran in 7 different Corvettes (spec). I think the club is open to anything that's enjoyable, but will probably want to veer away from what was raced recently.

All kinds of info on SNAIL's combo history can be found here. On the "SNAIL Car History Info" sheet you'll find a list of the cars used in SNAIL sorted by appearances.

It was working fine about 3 this morning. What'd you do to break it?

It displays correctly for about 1.5 seconds, then the total purchases and total sales columns reset to zero. :odd:

As the co-series director for the Tuesday SNAIL Touring Car Series and Wednesday SNAIL Race Car Series, I'm happy to congratulate @vovik05 for taking the series champions in both TCS and RCS this past season.

With the above comes the announcement that we are now accepting applications for new drivers to join the fun in both series. If your looking for something to do on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, please check out the threads for the Tuesday Touring Car Series or Wednesday Race Car Series and sign up in the thread. The next season for both series starts on 3/17 and 3/18 respectfully and would love to have some quality SNAILS join the fun. Space is limited so if your interested, don't delay.

If you have any questions about either of these series, please let me know. Hope to see you on the track.

    Regards, Grim and Zii

We recently used the V12 Vantage for quite a while, and it produced some very close and fun racing. You could try pairing that with a Ferrari, Lamborghini, a variant of the GT-R, or something of the likes, and I'm sure it would create some very interesting results! Good luck!

Just purchased my plane tickets and weekend passes to the Tudor Championship Continental Tire Monterey Grand Prix . I'm super psyched! First time to the west coast and this venue in person. Any other SNAILs going ?

    A tip for tonight's racing:

At Spa, if you miss your braking point at the end of the Kemmel straight, the loooooong straight after Eau Rouge, please do not cut right and rejoin at the chicane. There is a large paved area that is meant to be a safe escape road. If you continue straight, there is a small road that is a much safer place to rejoin the action so you don't end someone else's race. Over the last few days, and during previous combos at Spa, I've seen several people rejoin dangerously there, ending someone's race.

I want to go left and use the old track. Wonder if that could ever be a part of GT?

I was just saying in another thread I'd like a more realistic version of Monaco with the bump.
