Ranchero pretty much summed up Discord. Don't need anything extra. Just another way to communicate and ping drivers/helpers with races etc.

I'd be more than happy to help setup a server

What works is playing the game with over the ear headphones and connecting the basic PS4 earbud mic to your phone. Stick that in your ear under the big headphones and you get both audio.

Ummm.. no. That doesn't work, actually. The more I read about Discord the more it seems it's geared more towards PC users who can crank their in-game audio through monstrous audio setups or PC only connected headphones. Console systems seem to be left in the dark.

What seems easy and simple for a younger generation may be very complicated for old bobs like me and others. I downloaded Discord and signed up, but it seems to be so intrusive into my privacy I had to block it from everything where it wants to poke its nose in. I will need a step-by-step instruction to see how it will work with the racing and if it is worth the effort to promote it for Sunday racing. I'm not unwilling, just a BOB who needs clarification and training.

It worked fine for me. I plugged my headphones into my stereo receiver and cranked the volume up as high as I wanted. I know that's not the norm for most people and the PS4 headphone audio is usually too low. It's an entire thread on the PCars2 forum.

@Rednose58 I'm pretty sure you guys can and will figure it out 👍

The way most people have their rig set up it would be difficult to add another layer on top of that - having to be tethered to either a PC or phone for voice/text chat. And those who aren’t on would still need the info in the GTS lobby.

That said, might not be a good fit for race night, but could be a marketing tool for Thursday practice and someone familiar with Discord could be the SNAIL contact on our server/chat that evening.

I don't mind filling that role. I think it would be good to use for quicker contacts, pings for race times etc. Nothing too serious.

Lol, same here. I just let it run in a different browser to check it out rather than try to sort out all the scripts and what not. I also don't really see the need to have voice chat with more than eight people. Too many people on the comms just makes it so no one can really talk, defeating the purpose of voice chat.

I have read the first post and would like to join.

@wackedkid47

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58,@MajorBlixem & @SAMHAIN85 as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

My son showed me a bit about this Discord thing, and well......I'm one of those old bobs that wouldn't benefit from this at all. I know there's many others that would feel the same......maybe it is a generation thing IDK.

Same...tried it once and was very confused. Thats not to say I CAN'T learn it though...just wasn't interested in trying to navigate it by myself

The data for the January 2019 Season has been archived. Thanks to the scorekeepers, data specialists and stewards for getting it all done.

The SNAIL Sunday Scoring Sheets for Feb 10 have been created and is ready to go for tonight - 5 Divisions again!

I installed the Discord app on my laptop a while back just to keep in touch with the gang from Spunland . It's not hard to learn, but you need to take the time to figure some of it out like how to turn off all of the notifications it wants to send you. It's basically just a chat box (text). But there is also a voice portion to it. I have zero interest in using it on Sunday nights for racing as I am one who enjoys hearing the game through surround sound wireless headphones. Ear buds are so 1970s.

your a FNG lol....Drivers with an NEP designation are not currently eligible to win weekly prizes. These drivers have not been through a full round of promotion and relegation or have not raced enough to accumulate enough data to support their divisional placement. Drivers with a number after the NEP designation are not eligible to win prizes until they race that number of weeks. These drivers have this designation because they won a prize and were non-responsive and forfeited their prize.

not in the slightest. i just played the audio off my phone. Its less of the voice chat to me, and more the level of organization and contact it allows.
to be clear, im not opposed to the forums. just used to discord.
