Watching Spec Miata races there was my inspiration. It's on my list of this to do this season, but at Watkins Glen.
I've been to the Glen a few times to catch the IMSA races and they usually have spec miata on the track between the big events. It just sounds like a bunch of bees buzzing around. Probably the best and only place to catch action is the bus stop. Everywhere else it is basically single file. I really wish Watkins Glen was in Gran Turismo, I love driving it in Project Cars, especially with the Ford Escort.




I didn't dislike the Yellowbird at Madrid, but I just felt that it was an entirely different race if you were in traffic or not.
It definitely was different, but I realized in the first race that trying to pass was not worth the stress. Running your line and backing off at the braking points allowed you to be in a position to capitalize on other driver's bigger mistakes...of which there were plenty. If you tried to stay on their bumper you'd just get sucked into making the same mistake. The second race I just focused on corner exit speed. I passed some drivers from much further back than you might expect.

The Car
Has a few colours. They look brighter on track than in the dealership. Sadly, no custom number nor custom wheels. In the original Gran Turismo this was the Mitsubishi FTO LM Edition and was huge fun around Special Stage Route 11. (The original and best version of that much-missed track!) That's the memory I hope this combination will bring back.

The Track
Reverse has 5 reasonable overtaking points. 4 of them are wide braking zones with 2 of them completely straight. Novel views of the local scenery, including a distant bridge outside of turn 1. A slower entry into the lit up tree section provides more time to enjoy that, too.

As it's Winter for most of us, night tracks are currently easy to see on a TV screen. (No glare of Summer evening sunshine.)

Caution
Outside of final turn has a head-on wall after pit entry. You are nowhere near the limit of grip through there. Just something to be aware of when side by side.

About this time last year, SNAIL ran the FTO at Circuito di Roma / Forward and then Circuit de Spa-Francorchamps twice. Special Stage Route 5 Reverse was used in October last year.

Some other tracks I tested and enjoyed using Single Player, Professional Race, 3 laps:

Suzuka Circuit 2014 (2pm, weather 10%)

Looks gorgeous. Rotation and traction of this car makes it a joy to drive. A lot of edge-to-edge lines might make overtaking problematic. Huge grass and gravel run-off which makes minor mistakes cost a lot of time.

Grand Valley Speedway Reverse

Fun to drive solo but extremely edge-to-edge through high speed sequences. Overtaking extremely dangerous as barriers are close and access points are not reversed. Head on crash for slightest contact or even if you lose the grippy line by a metre. There are 4 braking zones into slow corners where overtaking looks fairly safe.

Special Stage Route 5 Forward
Flows quite well and thrilling speed in the S-bends. Extremely edge-to-edge because of that, though. Only two safe braking points for overtakes with 2 marginal ones. Importantly, the end of the main straight is a bit marginal for overtaking while it's perfect going the other way.

I really like the detail you put into your decision, and more-so appreciate you going through your thought process. I'm a "how to" guy and always like seeing the inner workings of things.

3rd lap of testing in Single Player Race was 1:21.3 if it helps. Division 3 driver. Online usually half a second per minute slower than single player.

EDIT: SNAIL Club Time Trial Events. Here's what I got.
  1. 1:20.142 Mitsubishi FTO Super Touring Car on RH at Route 5 Reverse
  2. 1:23.760? Mazda Eunos Roadster (NA Special Package) '89 on CS at Grand Valley East Section (@CoachMK21 was idle hosting the room so there's no result on the site.)
  3. 1:27.177 RUF CTR "Yellow Bird" '87 on SS at Circuito de Madrid Reverse

Lobby open to test out the new combos and to give rednose some laptimes

Edit: Closed but I'll be back on in a few hours. In 10 laps with the miata at GVE I was running mid 1:24's, with the fastest lap being a 23.9. Plenty more time to be had there, so take it for what its worth red. Will try the FTO later

Hey @Raw10_2u was curious if you remember back when we used to have the Nurburgring Nordschliffe track in the TT rooms and would select a different car to run every couple a weeks. I think a lot of people enjoyed running it cause we never get to race there.
Do you think if there is enough interest you could set something up again?


@singlepaddy I am currently in the process of trying to get help on starting up the TT Leader boards,I have never done the data entry for the leader boards,and don't know how copy the format of the sheets from one to another.Once I get that down to where I can start posting the leader board times on the thread,I would be glad to set that up.Who out there has the super skills with the spreadsheets to teach an old dog new tricks?LOL,Help Me! @Dragonwhisky @JLBowler @Rednose58
 
The recent surge in Social Media = People making contact with People.
GT Sport would do well to include the Clubs and Leagues benefit of GT6 in their new creation/marketing bid.

Many participants/purchasers will be lost from GTurismo if you do not include the marketing magnet of People competing against People - as in GT-6.

I hope "someone" in "The Organization" reads our postings, and discusses the ideas.

Watching these Duels at Daytona makes me wish we had more circle tracks to use in here. I think we could have a lot of fun running around Daytona on a Sunday night.
 
3 great combos! The Miata is always fun. The RUF seems to be about just running clean laps and managing your tires. That bump on the back straight will send you right around late in the race if you've burned through too much rear tire. The FTO requires brute force to rotate. You can get a 4 wheel drift going in some of the slow corners but if you don't time it right it will slow you down.

Not sure if I'll make it home in time to join in on Sunday so I'm glad I got to participate in practice night.
 
Well, 8 divisions vs. 4 currently. Also has a lot to do with WHOM is still active. Some people are naturally more chatty than others. As a matter of fact, my sim racing became more of a priority to r/c racing due to the large social nature of this club. The internet side of the social interaction within the local indoor onroad rc scene is VERY slow and generally not entertaining. The PITS thread just moved to the 2nd most active replied-to thread in the PCARS forum and it's only been an active series for 8 months or so. PITS is only a single lobby series. Its post size is mostly due to the naturally chatty characteristics of the members" topics and personalities.
 
I just spent the afternoon adding a single wood board to the bottom of my wheel rig so the pedals are bolted in place. I was just using what I had around the house. Eventually I'll plan a day to get wood to extend out for a seat to be mounted as well. Right now I kinda don't want to because that would be a permanent change that makes the entire rig harder to move around. At that point I'd like to have a second TV as my main TV so what I have now can be dedicated to the rig. That way the entire rig, wheel, pedals, seat, and TV are self-contained in one part of the room and it doesn't matter what it is. I'm not ready for that yet.

Well, analytically speaking it doesn't really matter. I simply looked at both currently active threads of series' that are similar in on-track participation. It's just an example to illustrate how size doesn't always matter...
