  • No contact with walls or objects, visible or invisible
  • If you're not 100% sure that your lap is clean, then consider it dirty

Thread rules:

The following information cannot be discussed in this thread (they can, however, be discussed on MSN or via other private conversation methods
):

  • Official lap time

  • Official Time Frame of Your Run
  • Any information which can be used to infer official lap time or splits

The following information can be discussed in this thread :

  • Practice lap splits
  • Practice lap times
  • Any settings discussion.

The posting of settings is encouraged, but it's certainly not mandatory. We respect anyone wishing not to post settings, so please do not publicly ask someone to post their settings, they will if they want to.

Submission:

All submissions must be sent by PM (Subject title: GTP_WRS Week 52 Submission ) to (Vaxen):

  • Please submit your time in the following format on a single line:
    [Division#]---M'SS.XXX---GTP_Tag
    (Example-) [division 2]---1'44.678---GTP_EDK
  • You can submit only once
  • Please include in your submission PM your division, GTP_Tag and final lap time
  • The deadline for submission is Monday, November 2nd 11:59pm GMT
  • If you are unsure of the deadline try this site

Why Use GMT?:
GMT is World Time and the basis of every world time zone which sets the time of day and is at the centre of the time zone map. GMT sets current time or official time around the globe. Most time changes are measured by GMT. Although GMT has been replaced by atomic time (UTC) it is still widely regarded as the correct time for every international time zone.
Time verification:

Save your ghost replay and keep it at least a full two weeks after the event's deadline:

  • Racers, named by the OLR Admin staff, (if any) will be required to submit a replay for verification
  • Any submitted time is subject to a time verification request
  • When a time verification has been requested, the concerned racer must provide the correct replay within seven days of the request
  • Failure to do so will result in the removal of the unverified submission from the results table
  • Video replays are not accepted as a form of verification

Can we have Queen's 'Under Pressure' as the theme song this week?

Cool idea Kev, sounds like fun!

Great stuff! I remember doing one a bit like this before at Suzuka in the Evo and it was gret fun and very intense just trying to get in that clean banker lap before going for it! Are we allowed to discuss when we are running our main entry? Nice to see we're allowed to discuss practise lap times, it'll be interesting to see how they compare to the submitted entries come Tuesday!

Yes, this is the same idea as the Evo at Suz. It's Vaxen's original idea, with some refinements we agreed to after running it the first time.

I would think directly referencing your time slot you run in would be information that could be used to infer your final lap time.

I'll edit the rules at the top to make it more clear a little later. I wouldn't expect anyone to make their final run today, so I don't see it as a rush. ;)

Thanks Kevin, I wasn't planning on running today, I think a few practise sessions first would be prudent

Just wanted to check so that I didn't put my foot in it!

p.s. 7 gears? when I learned to drive, I only had 4!!

Here's my obligatory stupid question. It says HSR in the header and all pictures are from HSR Forward but the race details say HSR reverse. Which is it?

Quite a pertinent question if you ask me

If all of Kevin's WRS combos will be as original as his first 2 I say we'll have no problem in overcoming the long GT5 wait 👍

Also, let's hope that PD will include the mean LF-A in the full game.

I am new to the GTP_Registry. Can someone tell me the difference in doing the run Online and offline? Does online mean one has to do the run in some online event?

Sorry for my cluelessness :ouch:

This will be something else...only i don't have a lot of time comming week so will see if i can make it to do a serious run...

Doesn't the Lexus have 8 gears??...

spyrrari.

Exactly my thoughts.

Thought , interesting combo.. not too hard to outlearn for the timeslot.

90 mins is plenty of time, especially for HSR where a clean lap isn't hard to get. However it does add an interesting slant on the traditional format anyway.

I will give this a go, though I'll probably just do about 15mins of practice before my slot as I'm kinda busy this week. But normally I max out within 90 mins anyway so it should be fun.

When we do an Arcade event with S2 tires, like this week, we normally run offline (as not to give away our lap time).
Offline arcade racing is done while being logged off from the PSN (playstation network).

When you do your official run be sure to be logged into the PSN.
This will record the time of your completed lap along with your lap time.

I have a feeling this format was chosen after getting the feedback about GTP tags at the top of the online leaderboards.

I have a question for all the competitors.
Can/should we all agree to do our practice laps online as not to (possibly) give away our actual submitting lap time?
We can discuss practice times so maybe it doesn't matter which way we run, online/offline........?

Hi and welcome to the WRS

Online means you can be signed in to the PSN when you're doing the time trial, offline means you must sign yourself out before running it (basically, it stops you going on the online leaderboard so we don't know each others laptimes).

EDIT: Beaten by 01GTP  I'm doing my practises online, it would make more sense, especially given we can discuss practise laptimes

I see, thanks for explaining :)

I like the focus of 90 mins only to do your online lap. It puts focus on quality laps and not a mass of 200 laps to get the perfect lap. Although practice laps do not count.

I like it, plus its one of my BEST tracks.

I see Animera and OnlyMe have had a go already. I'll be first to post then with my #53 time (watch that disappear downwards rapidly!) of

1'16.073

Sorry for the confusion, guys. You caught my copy and paste error. :dopey:

The track is HSR forward, also sorry if anyone practiced the wrong direction.

As far as the 8 gears, you won't even have to use 7. :sly:

But if someone verifies, I'll fix that, too.

Kevin

Doh, I just did HSR reverse!!! Never mind, got another time on a leaderboard

And I only used 6 gears!!

You are forgiven this week EDK for the copy and paste error, but it if happens in future I might be forced to take your mod privilages away and give them to myself

I'm going for a few practice laps in a bit. Should be an enjoyable event...never done HSR since switching to the wheel :scared:

Nice, like HSR since its padfriendly. And mine vacation starts tommorow so defently give it a few practice laps :).

Well after going for a few laps I don't think I'll take part in this weeks WRS unfortunately :dunce: I did manage 8th on the leaderboard rather quickly, but can't say I found it to be one bit enjoyable :ill: Nothing against the event organizers, I just don't see much point in pursuing a best possible time if I'm not enjoying the experience.

The front end suffers from terrible understeer and lack of response during turn in, as if there's no weight transfer going on (disgustingly unrealistic)...while there is little to no feeling for what the front tires levels of grip are through the FFB 👎 :yuck: ...so most of putting in a good lap has to do with visual references, tires squeal and memorizing the limit and line from doing lap after lap...basically with no reasonable FEEL for what the car is doing (at least in my case  :dunce:)

Hopefully they improve the feeling of grip and weight transfer through the FFB by the time GT5 comes around, or else I may just end up switching to Rfactor or Iracing for good 💡 Because this is hardly what I'd call realism  :dunce:

Well, I'm going the right way now which is a good start (although I'm quicker backwards I think!). After my first practise session, I managed:

1'16.391

Lots of time to make up here in this strangely enjoyable combo (although 8 gears, how come I can't find the one I need?!?!)

I've had my first 5 mins of WRS for over a year, and my VERY FIRST 5 mins of WRS on GT5P, and come out with that:

1'16.647

I don't think that's too bad for a noob.

It's a very tricky balance in 3rd gear, and getting off the brakes to stabilize the car into a bend is key.

IMO.

Good luck everyone.

:irked:👍
