Steward's Comments:

Tricky combo this week. Congrats to all who finished, and a special callout to GTP_DHolland for reaching the 68s.

Cheers,

OLR Team.

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

I like that this is called "Coffee Break" and the car is a "Cappuccino". 👍 I need some. Jolly good stuff.

What a fun little car this was here at Suzuka East. Great combo Kevin 👍
Congrats to all the podium holders.
Dan, another fine display of what time is available.
tc76 outstanding performance well done. Drive of the week I'd say.

Thanks for checking Philip.
My laptop is in for repairs, so I tried to download and check your replay on my old desktop PC, but it will just not unzip the file.

Congrats to all winners and podium finishers and a big mention to Baz ,well done mate 👍

Whoa Baz, good going there! Congrats to everyone else too.
There is a lot to be said about driving slower cars, especially up through the esses, I'm not going to say much though, other than that I had a very enjoyable couple of hours trying to get it right. Good choice again Kevin.

Oh dear, I'm embarassed about having to submit a replay here, I'm glad I did it in the end, wasn't going to bother until last night as I'd spent so little time on it.

Did shifting up to fifth on the main straight make any difference?

I never checked the torque/power curves :dunce:. I stayed in fourth down to turn 1 and shifted at 8krpm typically.

After many laps i beleave shifting did Dan, 164khp (102mph) just give you that little more on entry to turn 1. Seemed to me to settle the car a little better mid corner, ready for the second apex of turn 2.

I didn’t go past what I call the toque band, the outer white band of the rev counter 7,250 rpm. After that there was not a significant gain in speed opposed to time.

I tried both 3rd and 4th through the ‘S’ bend, just so happens that my fastest last corner was the one I submitted but I had much faster T1 & T2 laps .274 .140 only to have the back end step out on me in the last bend ending in a .5 over the line.:grumpy:

Hope some of that was helpful Dan.

Phillip.

Thanks Philip. I guess the lesson there is to always check for the optimum gear-change engine speed. Often, the time it takes to change is less favourable than red-lining the revolutions. In this instance the car didn't redline into the first turn in fourth gear so I assumed it was good but evidently there was something extra to gain from shifting up.

Yes the poor little Suzuki ran out of push after about 7000rpm, so shifting up at about that rev put the engine back into what torque it did have, at that speed. My changes were at 110 kph(68mph)into 4th and 148kph(92mph) into 5th.

Great times by all, I ran quite a few laps but forgot to submit. I used 4th gear most all the way around, shifting to 5th only at the end of the front straight and infrequently dropping to 3rd in turn 1. I ran a 1:09.211 with a .4xx T1 and a .2xx T2. The car just seemed happier and absorbed my less-than-graceful steering inputs better than in 3rd. I was hitting 101-102 MPH at the end of the straight, similar to what was mentioned earlier.

Typically I wouldn't burden the thread with 'I forgot to submit but ran a ....... lap', but after watching Dan's vid and the discussion about gear selection I thought it brought up an interesting point. Again, congrats to all that submitted, it was a great combo, nice work again Kev!
