Steward's Comments:

Nice job everyone!

Cheers,

OLR Team.

Important notices:
To streamline the WRS administration process, all required replays for this race must be submitted within 7 days. This thread will be listed as "Provisional" and will become "Official" once all posted replays have been verified. After 7 days, all drivers who fail to provide a requested replay will have their lap disqualified. (Beware: disqualification isn't taken lightly within the WRS.)
Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

Replay Verification Requests:
This week we would like to see replays for all indicated results. All replays are to be posted here.

Instructions on how to upload your replay can be found here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

shows that the replay has been posted and verified.
rflagnv1.gif
shows that the submitted lap turned out to be dirty or doubtful.
bflagtp3.gif
shows that the replay has not been provided in due time.

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Yours being one of them Christophe! Another fine result for you and Joao, and also Lucas on his relentless march to D2 Silver ;)

Thanks to Kevin and Vaxen once again 👍

All present and correct - nice clean lap Christophe. I must say it's difficult to see where I've lost 0.4 to you. Just a little everywhere I guess. I did notice that your gears were closer together than mine which is likely to have helped accel, especially up the hill. Regardless, very nicely driven 👍

Congrats to Wes on the overall win 👍

Huge congrats to Joao and Speedy, so close to an overall podium there speedy 👍

Congrats to all other podium placers and division winners :)

Edit: Forgot to say congrats to Pekka also on an overall podium great job 👍

Mighty impressive top 3 finishes. WGE nice job on getting the overall win. Joao nice job on getting 2nd overall and winning D2. Pekka nice job in your first week as a D1 getting 3rd overall and 2nd in your new ultra competitive division.

Speedy some weeks you should change your name to Ultra Speedy.👍

Great job again Lucas.

Great job again Blair.

Congragulations to all other podium finishers.:)

If someone in the NTSC region would verify my week 39 replay I would forever be in your debt.

Congrats to all the fine participants this week.

 to Lucas - I think it would have taken me at least a couple more sessions and some luck to catch you with that lap. All purples probably wouldn't have quite got me there yet. Now getouttatown! :dopey:

Still pretty chuffed with the progress on the track. I expect I was using the wrong line in T1 (amongst others), but I'm eager to see replays.

Wow! Can't believe I got a podium. My t4 was about .1 off my best. Very happy now. I'll try to get my replay up in the next day or so.

Congrats to all winners -- I'll try to give you a harder time this week!

Thanks to Skyrim, I got my first top 10 finish! :dopey:

Seriously, congrats to everyone who gave it their all this week. 👍
Can't wait to hear how Kevin did...

Congrats Wes on the commanding overall win.

Thanks to Dom and Simon for the great tuning tips.

I was pulling for you, Ren, congrats on the podium (but I was secretly hoping you'd beaten me). 👍

And Jon, thanks for swapping driver's notes with me, and the encouragements, it's great to have you back! :D

My NTSC replay, suffix 037. Close at the fast uphill left before the cork, but I never found a safe way through there that was also fast.

Congratulations to all who reached they target.👍

My results moved from Div 3 Bronze last week to Div 3 Silver this week, I guess I can call that progress. :dunce:

Actually I have to thank Dom and Simon the most. \/

Thanks to Dom and Simon for the great tuning tips.
I'm really depending on these guys posting their tunes.
A mix of Dom's suspension setup and Simon's gearbox made me able to pull this.
Really appreciated guys.👍

Wes/w-g-e as I expected you were untouchable, congratulations

And Pekka/MadMax, I understand why you submitted early, probably a waste of time trying to improve on that 👍

D2 had a block of close runners, but as it turns out Christophe/Speedy was well ahead with a sub 1.25. Until Joao/UsualSuspect suddenly made an even more commanding finish, fantastic job on that

Congratulations to Lucas/Gravitron (thanks for kind comments btw) and Blair/MilleRSVR, both continue to dominate your divisions, seems it can not go on like that forever ;)

For myself this week ended most frustratingly. I have at least 5 laps within 0.020 of submitted time. That would be fine if it was 0.1-0.2 from best sectors, but it is a full half second behind. I just hit a solid wall right there. Usually the cure is just to watch some replays and keep trying and suddenly the tenths start falling, but it did not work this time. In addition, I never got T3 (how did so many of you run 17.1 ).

Anyway, fun combo it was :gtpflag:

And another good flag ...

Is that a small sign of panic I see in T4? :)

Regarding T1 you should definitely go wider before turn 1 (you need to avoid the 4-3-2 signs by just a hair), stay close to both corners, but go a bit wider between them, run it as one big curve with an apex between the corners.

In some other corners - T1-last, T2-last and T3-first - I would say you could brake a little earlier, then get earlier on the throttle, and get better exit line and speed.

But a nice lap overall, pretty good brake and throttle control 👍

Haha, thanks and yeah, I remember that too :sly:

Maybe Speedy is after a job in admin, has to be the reason he didn't leave any replays for the rest of us
I really wasn't. But who will believe that, being a Race Admin now.

Clean and correct. That looked depressingly easy :sly:

Thanks, Simon. I was tempted to put the other lap up - a little prettier to watch. I'll write a bit more here in the morning.

Post-sleep edit:

Yes - it was definitely panic! Time was running out (last lap ran), and I knew I needed a decent 1'25 (other having been binned), while I had a heap around 1'26.0-1

Your lap showed off the line through Andretti and turns 3-4 I was scared of; I was sort of amused (but unsurprised) to see you hit all the other corner speeds I wanted in one smooth lap 👍 Particularly interesting to me since our tunes would have been very similar.

I tried the outside line for Andretti (the speed line) only a little bit, and briefly had some success with it. I was having a great amount of trouble repeating it under stress and catching/keeping up with my ghost, though, so I went back to the inside line (distance, which I had unfortunately habituated to early) - I once managed a 21.9xx that way, so it wasn't entirely without merit. I assumed the inside line was just impossible in the Kevmobile (the SRT'08 from WRS 16) due to grip/mass, but thought it might be usable this time around.

I admit to being a more than a little apprehensive about being that close to the markers; rumbles often weren't my friend, here, too.

I worked out my T4 purple was around 25.34ish, but could get it without getting caught on the rumbles before the last turn almost none of the time - best hybrid lap from my other two saved laps was therefore 1'25.50x. I need more consistency, I guess, and discovering I was losing 2 tenths consistently in T4 late was dumb.

Also: And congrats to Paul on the silver! I was focused on chasing Lucas because we'll lose him soon; I was pretty sure you'd got me looking at the splits.

I've always been bad at Laguna Seca for some reason.
My first 2 hours with this combo having installed CLS's first basic setup (this is no blame on your setup Dominic, it just didn't work for me.) These splits gave me a 1'25.9 at the line. I almost gave up untill...

Sector 1 , first corner drop down to 1st gear , 2nd if the car drifts on entry. exit wide on rumble.
For the entry to 2nd corner go all the way to left before turn in and use the rumble inside to carry more speed thru , exit on the rumble on left.
First corner of sector 2 , drop down a gear to hit the apex and shift back up a moment later.
2nd corner of sector 2 drop down to 4th and slow down for apex.
End of sector 2.
First corner of sector 3 , stay in 5th. No braking needed , coast and once at apex return on the accelerator.
Corkscrew , stay in 2nd gear. Cut 1st corner a little , stay on the right coming out of Corkscrew for better turn in point for the oncoming left corner.
Sector 4 first corner , lift off a little to hit the apex. Accelerating out in 5th.
2nd corner , drop down to 4th for apex , shift to fifth at apex and accelerate out wide.
Last corner , drop down to 1st gear. Shift up to 2nd on exit and to 3rd on the rumble.
And then just remember to shift up at ~6000 rpm and cross the finish line in 5th gear.

Pekka
Wow thanks Pekka, I guess I should try that then... (I'm just guessing I can post this as you also posted your tune in the 3D3 thread. If not please don't ban me with your new powers Pekka.:scared::P)
My adjustments are in red...

w-g-e
T1: 21.934
T2: 20.372
T3: 17.302
It was just a bad tune... :P
 1.1 seconds off my time with my first clean lap. What kind of setup is this.
(The most time I gained was because of the gearing but the basic suspension setup felt great too.)

I couldn't share this tune because of this:

Yes , the wheel fried from inside last tuesday at 3D3/Roman Holiday practice.
The wheel started to get worse after that Focus / Toscana Rally , thought.
And Pekka/MadMax, I understand why you submitted early, probably a waste of time trying to improve on that 👍
Pekka submitted early because his wheel broke. I really think he could have beaten me if his wheel wouldn't have broken.
So I couldn't post my tune of course. I don't think Pekka would have been on the podium if he posted his tune. I'm sure he would posted his setup if his wheel didn't break though.

So I feel a bit sorry for Pekka as I feel like this was his week. Luckily I don't have to feel so guilty as he already has a win.:sly:
I'm happy with the win though. Thanks to all, it was a fantastic combo really. After having installed Pekka's tune I haven't been frustated since, and that's a first.:dopey:

Congrats to everyone who reached their goals. Stunning time from Joao which I think is the highlight of this week.👍
On the road to D1.;)

See you in WRS week 41.

EDIT: Oh, and you can have revenge on me here: 3D3 race.

EDIT2: A video of my lap:

EDIT3: And here's my replay:

Congrats Wes, interesting story. :) I never tried any tuning setup and my first session was about the same as yours, but I very much doubt I could've been a threat to you even with a perfect tune!

Too bad about Pekka's wheel but he already has an overall win in the WRS, I think he should wait a while before the next one! :sly:

Up from Div 4 bronze last week to div 3 Gold this week which is better :), congrats to all, I noticed w.g.e used significantly less braking than I did. I'll keep that in mind for 3D3 :D

Congrats everyone! Enjoying this very much, thanks.

Here is my NTSC replay.

Thanks Wes for posting the tune you used and a replay with a actual driving view...I can learn alot from that and I will try this combo again...I ran a perfect altho slow lap. Thats mostly why I gave up. I couldnt find one corner my ghost didnt nail perfect. Not one corner I could gain any time on him at all.

That usually never the case and I easily know where I left some time and If I leave at least 2 tenths I can keep going lower. When I have no clue tho is when I hit the wall.

I was figuring something was wrong with my tune but what? It feels like an ideal perfect for Laguna tune.

Anyhow Ill try Pekkas tune and your tune some day soon and find out whether I just cant go any faster at Laguna for some weird reason or what. I dont like it when tracks whip me but some tracks do totally whip me.

Congratulations to all who participate, divison and podium winners

Great week, really enjoyed it and still don´t understand why so little people participate.

A word to Wes and a great overall winning 👍

Stunning time from Joao which I think is the highlight of this week.👍
On the road to D1.;)

This coming from you is a great compliment

To Pekka and i know if that didn´t happen to your wheel i would never be in this place.

Special mention to Christophe that is becoming faster and faster 👍
and to cats_pajamas for is first podium on D2
Better luck next time my friend Jon 👍

To Lucas also showing again that it should be on our division.

To Blair also well above his handicap

Finally to Dom and is first version tune that i stick to 👍 (the last version didn´t suit me, was to loose on the chicane)

Thanks Joao - you're going very well these days, but I don't need luck, just need to drive better!! I got a rear wheel on dirt on the exit of the fast left after the corkscrew and had to catch the slide which then scrubbed some speed off. I ran several T4 faster, but usually fell off somewhere else instead

I seem to have hit a wall in effort vs. reward as I'm pretty much at my handicap each week. Will be sitting out this week for a number of reasons, but will be back in wk 42 and hopefully have some more time on my hands to increase the effort with the hope of some payback!

Oh, and I'll feel better when Lucas, Paul, Owen and Ren (the list goes on) get promoted and I don't have D3 climbing all over me

Congrats all winners and podium finishers. 👍

Excellent performance from Usual Suspect. 👍

Wow thanks Pekka, I guess I should try that then... (I'm just guessing I can post this as you also posted your tune in the 3D3 thread. If not please don't ban me with your new powers Pekka.:scared::P)

Offcourse you can post it and thanks for sharing the final modifications too Wesley.

By the way , congrats for the overall win.

Both good, clean laps. 👍
Tyres, time and other specs correct.

Here's my replay. Should be an easy review. Didn't see any real close calls myself, but I might be slightly biased.

Have to give a ton of credit to Dom for his superb tune, I know it had more time in it than I could find.

Anyways, thanks to whoever takes a look.

Congratulations to Lucas/Gravitron (thanks for kind comments btw) and Blair/MilleRSVR, both continue to dominate your divisions, seems it can not go on like that forever

Thanks guys.:)

All good things must come to an end eventually. I beleive my days in D4 are numbered. and the podium finishes too.

I'm going to have to find out what Lucas is eating for breakfast.:sly:

Attached is my replay.

Also: And congrats to Paul on the silver! I was focused on chasing Lucas because we'll lose him soon; I was pretty sure you'd got me looking at the splits.

Yep I tried chasing him aswell we will have to knock him off once before he jumps up a division.

Congrats to all the podium finishers and all who took part, some great times by the top 3 look forward to seeing there rear bumpers tonight in 3D3.

Thanks Dom as I used your tune unfortunatly didnt get chance to try simons gears, stayed with my own setup.

Heres my PAL replay
