hey guys, i'm going to do the 24h's for the 4th time now, i have never won it.

basicly because i try to keep it real.

-only cars around 300-550hp(wich will prbly be the most used on 24h)

another thing is that, when i get out of the track, and i 'crash' pretty hard against a wall, i just stop the game.
if i don't crash to hard, i just let my car stand close to the pits for like 30 min and then i start driving again.
NO dangerous driving etc.

it's ahrder like that, but nontheless, more fun, and more stressing :scared:

i just wanted to know if there's anyone as crazy as me?

btw, i race the 24hrs in a 3man team, wich means each one had to drive 8 hours.

That is amazing. Too bad stuff like that isn't in the game to begin with. I'd like to see power restrictions and some form of penalty for damage finally make their way into GT5. It would add a lot to the realism aspect that GT advertises so much.

I just did the 24h with the 301 HP Altezza Touring Car. It was a bit faster than I suspected (won by 6 laps) but if you are racing with your penalty system, it would only allow one 30 minute stop.

That's very cool. I'm not crazy enough to try it and I also don't have the time to, but I like the way you give yourself the penalty time. Hope you win it soon. 👍

I actually tried doing something like this.

Problem is that the AI is not very good and occasionally slams into the wall, without consequence.

Until the AI car has to stop to repair damage, I won't either.

i did the 24 hour race by myself...mostly, my fiancee helped when i needed a five minute break, and i never stopped the game when i crashed too hard. just hit reverse and keep driving. why would people do that to themselves? say, for instance, you crashed into the wall after the long straight at the top of the map (screw you, i don't know the names) at the 17th hour? would you waste 17 hours of yours and your "crew's" lives just for some fake realism? weirdo. haha i'm just kidding, but seriously, chill out with the anal retentiveness or something.

yes.
i got out in, believe it or not, the LAST lap.
unfortunatly, it was a crash so fecking hard, that i couldn't give myself a penalty anymore.

i don't see the point why you wouldn't do it after 17 or 23hrs of drving.

i think its more a waste when ur in the 4th hour.

then you race for nothing really, and you just exit the game.
with 23hrs behind, you know the track perfectly, you know the car's handlings better then ever before.
you can make ur settings better when you drove a hell lot of laps for test it.

you just gotta be crazy enough...

I agree with you, why quit after spending 17 hours on the game and then quit just because u crashed

Thats just Sad to be honest with you.

Part of me agrees.

But do you know what? I think he might be onto something, in a weird, anally retentive way (and I mean that nicely, of course). Think of the disappointment when he actually does crash out in the 23rd hour. :banghead: Imagine the anticipation while the virtual mechanics are virtually fixing the car. You'd be a bag of nerves.

Then, think of the feeling of euphoria and triumph if he actually makes it!!! :dopey: Think of the feeling of achievement!! The highs and lows, that's what life's about. :sly:

Unfortunately he won't actually be achieving anything, but don't tell him that, he sounds like a nice guy. :)

To make it more real, you could only attempt it once a year - and if you crash and abort the race, then don't retry it until the same time next year.

Now that would be dedication. :)

Also, if you have a bad impact (like you do when you abort), you could get one of your mates to break your arms and/or legs. That'll make you think twice about going into flugplatz flat-to-the-floor on orange tyres......

I also love realism to max but not that way ->
I would use a car at proper HP (just like Sprinterke) on proper tyers (sport not racing ?) but i would rather drive little bit slower just to do not hit walls also - no shortcuting, 2 wheels on the track etc, if there would be any wall hit - a 3 min penalty or sth ok - but not more.... reset of a game is for me just useing you PS2 laser for nothing ;) but hey man do not give up finaly u will win ;)

Hey i would also like to have such a girl :) team with girl like that would be nice :)

ferrari_chris your replay rulez !! :)

I love a good challenging race with lots of overtaking but when it comes to the 24hr races i've always decided to out gross the competition with a 600bhp Skyline or something.
But come to think of it, i'd really like to race a close 24hour race even if i dont win. I'd probably use the M3 GTR race car if it isnt too fast for the competition. I've been practicing the 'ring in this car quite a lot recently and have nailed the first 2 - 3 sectors. I'll probably practice the other sectors for a little longer and give this a try. My apprenticeship doesnt start for like at least a month and all my friends are starting at college/school again now so I have nothing else to do. Plus i've injured my neck so I have all the reasons I need to be doing this. Maybe ill video bits like a diary :D.

If you are a-spec-ing the whole thing, you may find the M3 GTR to be a bit too fast. It was one of the cars that I tested with prior to doing it and it can run sub-6'45 without a problem. (The fastest A.I. runs about 7'20.) I think it would be excellent for a split a-spec/b-spec run, though.

hehe, well, sum of yall call me crazy...

on the other way, i'm VERY relaxed,i don't aim for perfect times, just perfect laps.(as good as possible)

i'm just a huge race car fan, i would play the 24hrs race eventho i know i cant win.
i enjoy every part of the race, seriously, i just don't stress out.

with my 320i, i might have been searching for 12-13 hrs just to find my perfect setup...
its well...pretty long and hard work, and for most of you guys, useless to.
on the other hand, it's good to know i can follow the takata nsx on nurburgring with my stock 3320i, hehe...
i'm not passing it, i just stay in its trails :sly:

btw, who of you guys have the 320i touring car. imo the nicest car in the entire game...

You should use any Le Mans Prototype race car. I used the 787B to win. the worst enemy you will face if you don't use the LMP race cars is the nissan falken GTR race car. It will get to 2nd after the 1st lap so just use the LMP 💡 .

i just B-specced it because i had a days period where the house would be empty of people so it wouldnt get disturbed. i might a-spec it sometime if i have the time and patience, and a car that i can keep on the road (like the M3 GTR race car, but apparantly thats too fast :( )

When I did the race, I got my girlfriend to call me when it started, and I ran in from across the street...

yes she does...i feel that i've lucked out hardcore in that department. i see you're from west palm, go to the orbit...sorry, ovation(i still can't get used to that name). that's where i met her, there's tens of dozens of awesome chicks there. 👍

I'll do the same thing (300-500 HP cars, no dangerous attempts) but, FULL A-SPEC with the DFP :P

I'm actually thinkin about the hole thing, my plans are gonna be revealed soon. I hope to do it soon too, I can't wait :P

What do you suggest I use then to keep in the field? I dont want to just be battling between 2nd and first, I wanna be in all the action. Maybe a GT300 car would be a good one? I'l start testing today and tomorrow when im back home. I got a lot of time ot pass at te moment so I can test for a while if need be.

if you arent a really good racer and don't search hours for a good setup and ****, i think a stock 320i will be more then good enough for you.(but i think u'll lose then)

Maybe. I like to think im a reasonably fast driver.
I think i'm just going to test for a day or so. I've got my sister's video camera at the moment so I could record bits in breaks and stuff to make a little documentation of it. Or at leats try...

I'll get back home this evening but ill probably start testign tomorrow. Once i've finished the race ill probably do a little write up to go with the video (if the vid is worth uploading).
