Steward's Comments:

Nice job everyone!

Cheers,

OLR Team.

Important notices:
To streamline the WRS administration process, all required replays for this race must be submitted within 7 days. This thread will be listed as "Provisional" and will become "Official" once all posted replays have been verified. After 7 days, all drivers who fail to provide a requested replay will have their lap disqualified. (Beware: disqualification isn't taken lightly within the WRS.)
Drivers who do not have a submitted lap posted in the results are not to post any information related to a laptime they might have achieved in the results thread. Any such posts will have the times removed.

Replay Verification Requests:
This week we would like to see replays for all indicated results. All replays are to be posted here.

Instructions on how to upload your replay can be found here - https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showpost.php?p=3180607&postcount=2

Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Holy Mackerel, Dale! Pretty darn good for your first TT in D3! Almost a podium 👍

Congratulations to all podium finishers!

Nice turnout, guys. Congrats Bandit on the win, and tasting 46's. 👍

Last-blasts by Bart and Matthew to take the other overall podiums.

Congrats Praiano for winning T4. :D

 Matt for killing D2...no words.
Nice work MJ and Rikson for the .006 D2 podium separation.

Thanks to Mike for the tips earlier in the week, you deserve to finish in front. ;)

Had fun battling in D2 with this one...60miles for the lap I submitted, but 300 yesterday trying to beat it.

Congrats to the other divisional winners and podiums, and those who had fun throwing this 3-speed around.

T4 times (ignore the delta field, I'm not sure why it's wrong for some people, and I'm not fixing it right now.:ouch:)

Thanks Lucas :D

Sweet! First time in months I've got under my handicap....but only just!

Last time I won it was at Laguna in a Corvette in week 92. It would appear that Corvettes and Laguna Seca are my thing ;)

Congrats everyone who submitted! Replay to come later.

I really don't want to rain on your parade, but that was the Camaro RM '10 at Laguna. Just sayin'. Still a Chevy. :D

VVVVVV Mike, sure it was. I had multiple laps that were thrown away that were on pace to be D2 podiums, each one keeping that quick-lift-off braking in mind. It was a great find. 👍

Great job everyone and thanks Lucas but it wasn't much of an assist for you :)

p.s. not like Chris not to submit his time, hope all is well is the Vagabond household

Congrats to everybody, this is the first time i spend so many time on an event, i knew that my T4 was very fast but unfortunately i wasn't able to join all the good sectors i've made during the week.
I had some very good time this for sure.

Good day everybody. ><(((((°>°°°°°

Well done to all the podiums!

I don't know what everyone is on about with the quick lift off braking and planting your foot on the throttle. With this car you have to trail brake into the corners, and in some corners use hardly and brake at all. And on the throttle you have to be very gentle and time it so you put your foot down whilst the weight is transferred to the front of the car, the means the inside rear won't spin away the power and cause the car to bog down. You'll see how I did it on my lap anyway 👍 I used BB 6/6.

Also, I'd like to know why my handicap isn't negative even though I won by over a tenth and was the only guy in the 1:46s

I presume it's to do with how you finished in relation to others, a lot over performed- gmmatthew and Praiano over performed in D1 Bronze and then Insatiable, MJ and Holty as well, which would have skewed the results slightly down in laptime.

Didn't have enough time to do this one justice, and the combo didn't entice me into making time: loved the look of it at first, but something about the car just didn't inspire me to want to drive it. Hence, why I didn't submit. :indiff:

I just think that it's unfair for me to get a positive handicap despite winning overall by quite a big margin, I know it was a tight field, but still, maybe it needs to be looked at... 💡

As Ford said, it's just down to the results being skewed by people in other divisions significantly outperforming their HC. Seems to happen on a reasonably regular basis and is most often down to people spending less time on the qualifier than they do on the events.

Sound familiar :sly:

By the way, you won! Congratulations...

This damn qualifier:)
I didn't put much effort to it and were ranked nearly Div1B.
And now i drive the crap out of me to keep up with some guys from Div3.
And - even i love the ring - i wouldn't call myself a ring-expert.

Ah - and congrats to the winner, division-champs and podiums ;)

As it is just as unfair for me, and everyone else in D3, to have to compete with someone (Holty) who should obviously be a ranked a whole division higher, at least. But as was said before, you just have to deal with it. :banghead:

I know I said I was going to keep my mouth shut, but this whole Holty thing is kinda frustrating to me. I work my ass off and take pride in a good division finish aiming for the win, but there is just no way to go for a win when you have situations like we do with Holty. Kinda demoralizing to say the least. I know some people may not care about a division win, but I do. Its a pride thing and sense of accomplishment for me. Again, sorry for speaking my mind, but last I knew, freedom of speech was still allowed. Will have my replay up shortly.

Mitch, console yourself with winning the 'real' D3. Not that I am anything great to use as a comparison, but your lap would have been second on my fastest lap list and you did finish with a D2 HC so you have performed very well, yet again.

We all get a little frustrated with people running out of division, but it typically does not last for long. Our new friend Holty will be my problem and not yours soon enough and besides, competition improves the breed and having GT Academy finalists in our ranks is probably the closest we'll get to the ultimate barometer of our own true pace.

I for one am glad the likes of John (Bandit) and Holty are here, as I am with all the people that I compete against and that beat me regularly. And to be honest, I personally get more frustrated when I don't fulfill my own potential than when I get a positive handicap or get handily spanked by Matt (again) :sly:

So you are competing against someone in your division who ran a D2 time. Despite your claims that he was "Up there with D1", that was conjecture on your part, and the real result places him solidly (at the top) of D2.

Your real result placed you solidly (at the bottom) of D2. Is the system also flawed due to you outperforming your division?

I understand he's been away for some time, but it's really not a productive use of our time or the system to have people constantly re-qualifying. Allowing racers to come and go as they please has been one of the hallmarks of the WRS TT's since their inception. We don't intend to change that now.

The system will work itself out, as Holty participates, his handicap will reflect his improvement and he'll be promoted.

I understand that your situation is a bit frustrating, but my point is that this week it would be almost impossible to get a negative handicap for me. At least you got a negative handicap, and you know that if you improve you can get an even better handicap. But with me, even if I do the fastest time possible, or very close to it, of course I win but it just seems a bit silly that I don't get a negative handicap, even though I'm only currently placed in D1S.
That's my view anyway :)

No, I am competing against someone who clearly is a D2 skilled driver due to his improvement over time outside of the WRS TT's.

Yes, I may have been premature in my saying that he was up there with the D1 times, my mistake.

No, the system is not flawed due to me out performing my division. I out performed my division due to my effort and that doesn't happen every week.

Look EDK, (sorry, I forgot your name, my apologies) I like and respect you as well as the other members of the staff and I'm not trying to argue here or cause problems. All I am saying is this: Why can't you guys make exceptions sometimes in cases like this. You know Holty has improved over time, obviously, with his absence from the TT's and know that his performance is going to skew the results, so what is wrong with letting him redo his qualifier? I'm not asking you to let every member redo the qualifier who has been absent from the TT's, but this is a special case, don't you think? And I know I can't be the only one who feels this way, at least in my division. As well as a learning experience, isn't this supposed to be a fair and friendly competition?

Like I said, I'm not trying to rock the boat here or be some pain in the ass, but my concerns here are genuine. This is just an extreme circumstance which, in my opinion, should be looked into by having Holty re-qualify as it is very obvious he is no longer a D3 skilled driver.

Anyway, just my thoughts on the matter.... not that my opinion means much here anyway.

@Cargo- It was no different for me, I had to get promoted, even though I re-ran the qualifier and went over 4 seconds faster than I did originally, you still have to take part to get promoted, it won't take long for Holty to get promoted though! I think you should focus on being the best you can, and hopefully trying to Chase Holty will spur you on and help you improve faster 👍

Congratulations to all winners and podiums.
A light negative handicap for me, so i am satisfied.

I understand that. I've been around here long enough to know how things work. I just think this is an extreme case, that's all. I also have all the focus and motivation I need to improve, that is not the issue here. I mean, I guess I could say the same back to you then when it comes to your concern. Don't worry about the handicap results or why you didn't receive a negative result, just focus on being the best you can be. I realize you are already highly skilled, but there is always room for improvement. ;) Not taking a shot at you, but it just sounds like you are trying to diminish my concern as compared to yours in not receiving a negative handicap. Anyway, at some point, I am sure we will both be told to shut up and stop whinning. At least me anyway.:sly: At any rate, I'll end my concern here so that the Admins won't have to. 👍 I'll go back to shutting up and just posting my times...like a good little minion. (Accepting and respecting the Admins answers to my concern and moving on)

@Mitch: You don't have to worry about Holty out performing his given handicap, because you are going to get promoted to D2 sooner than him.

Well I'm disappointed that I didn't submit a time, but I couldn't have provided a replay. My PS3 fell off the nightstand with GT5 and now it won't run the game :( congrats Mitch!

Anyway, here is my replay.

Is there anyway I can get promoted quicker than 6 TT's? I'll upload the replay soon!

Well to be honest, my wife and I where arguing about how my free time is spent on a game. She also said no grown up man should play a game, so I just slung my ps3 down the hall and said problem solved. Ps3 works but gt5 doesn't. Anyway, congratulations everyone that got a podium. Looked like a very close week

I think its actually 4 races, not sure. You can get a double promotion though, I do know that. At any rate Holty, don't worry about things as far as me. I've vented, expressed my dissatisfaction, and moved on. 👍 Everything is cool and just look forward to competing with and learning from you.

@Brandon: Sorry to here that. Guess I'm lucky in that my girlfriend supports me in my playing and even plays GT5 herself sometimes. A game isn't worth ruining your family life over with though so keep the misses happy. Hope you got things worked out with her and all is well in the household. Take care Brando.

Just keep performing the way you have mate, you're doing all the right things. Nice way to finish that TT with only a few hours to put in a time with a full spec car, well done 👍

Once again congratulations to John! 👍

Well done to all finishers

Here is my replay:
