Replay Checking:

  1. It is customary for all participants of the WRS to verify each others submitted replays
  2. Once you have checked the replay, post in this thread to say that you have checked it and whether it's clean, dirty or doesn't meet the required race specifications
  3. When verifying a replay, check against this weeks race specification, check that the tyres are the correct compound and that the power and weight is correct for example
  4. If you are unsure about a replay, always seek a second opinion before posting

Well done to all the divisional winners and podiums and everyone who tried to tame this beast. 👍

Until my lap is verified, how the heck did I get P1 in D3? I thought for sure @randy1122 would get it, considering we went back and forth on the leaderboards.

Even without checking your replay I can see you had great s4 and s5. It's really just one important turn right after T3 split. Your combined s4+s5 time was 27.1. Do you know what the fastest D1 guys ran? 27.0
Well done.

There definitely was differing gear-change strategies in this group.

Close finish @Animera ! I knew my last sector was bad but didn't realise it was that bad

Thanks for uploading my replay too, interesting to compare the gear choices and lines 👍

As for me, I wonder how much longer I can keep up these negative handicaps :dopey:

It was the last corner that got you the division win, though turn 11 set it up quite nicely.

Thanks for the check Stephen. I trust turn 11 wasn't too tough for you to green-flag - Fetchy did see them right.

@alexamenos Things have changed again!!!! It looks like it might be easiest just to curser over a green flag to highlight it then copy and paste into your post. I tried the same thing you probably did by copying the URL of a good flag and inserting a picture with that URL. Didn't work for me either.

Great win @RacingOtaku86 👍 It was fun competing with you again my friend.. It's been awhile. Well deserved win..The way we went back and forth on the leader kept me nervous all week.

Congratulations to all the podium finishers.

Thanks @alexamenos for the replay check.

There definitely was differing gear-change strategies in this group.

Yeah I noticed during the WW race that I was the only one keeping it in first all the way through the chicane. My sector 3 times were competitive throughout, so I didn't think I needed to do anything differently.

I judged that there was a lot more time to be gained or lost in the exit of the chicane than anything that could be accomplished between the two turns. The car turned better in 1st, and shifting to 2nd before the second corner in my view only complicated matters.

My exit on the chicane in my submitted lap was pretty mediocre -- I knew I was on a good lap and I got a little tentative. Mike's exit (@mr_lab_rat) is beautiful, if you want to compare.

Only if it's actually good :sly:. If it's bad, we'll post the reason and, if available, a supporting picture.

In just the 5 replays I saw, there was a serious difference of opinion in that chicane - you bouncing it off the rev limiter in 1st, somebody else (can't remember who off-hand) rowing furiously between 1st and 2nd, most of the rest doing the "traditional" 1st for the right-hander/2nd for the left-hander, and Ian keeping it in 2nd throughout (and using 3rd for a few turns where everybody else used 2nd).

I wouldn't call the 7th-fastest 3rd-sector "medicore".

I never focused on the second turn of the chicane. With my tune I needed to do both in first gear. I think the turn after T3 was more important and hard to do when a blue split popped up :)

I can check the last few replays (MeisterFetz and D4 guys).
If someone else is already doing it please let me know because it will take me a while (I'll be taking notes for comments).

Well you nailed that exit at least once!

I also noticed that my ability to hit the turn after T3 was negatively correlated to my time at T3.

That was my third win so far. The back and forth leaderboard movement made me nervous, and it pushed me harder to get past my original splits. When I got that 1:33 I knew it was a special one.

I think there's a good lesson in this---I have too much whiskey in me to know what that lesson is, but I'm pretty sure there's a lesson here.

Zapphoid - Good lines through first three turns but I'm pretty sure you know about the missed turn 4 apex. You went too deep into turn 6 (the large radius hairpin) but that allowed you to get way to the left for the turn 7 entry. Unfortunately the big slide cost you good exit from turn 7 onto the back straight. That cost you about 0.5 in the second sector. Overcooked turn 8 a bit and really trashed the car through the chicane. You could have carried more speed through turn 11 (right after T3) but still managed to keeep it together for the win. Congrats.

OpticZero0 - You could have picked straighter lines through the first two turns (turn in earlier) but your turn 4 was absolutely great, way better than mine. The exit from turn 6 carried you too wide so you had to slow down more for turn 7 and had tentative exit there. Going slower in turn 6 and faster in 7 would have shaved some time from your T2. You could have used more of the road on the entry to turn 8 (after T2) to carry more speed. Nice lines through the chicane but again not far enough on the left for the very important turn 11. The final turn could be taken at full speed but the grip was lower down closer to the inside edge.

mtbmik50 - Very safe lines through turns 3 but also very good turn 4. Did the same thing in the loop as Zapphoid including exit from turn 7. The exit from the chicane was just perfect. I couldn't do is as smooth as you did. Just like Optic you didn't get low enough in the final turn.

MeisterFetz - I'm not sure the engine braking helped to slow the car down. You also could have turned in earlier for the turn 1 and run straighter line through turn 2. The loop and turn 7 were just perfect. Your line through the chicane was incredibly clean. I don't know what settings your ran but I could never get the car to run so smooth there. I also often messed up the turn 11 after seeing good T3 but all you had to do here was get further to the left on entry and start accelerating sooner. Still great effort and massive negative handicap. See you in D2S when the results become official.

I checked the data logger and we were exactly even before the chicane. You gained .150 through these two turns :)
So if anyone wants to learn something they should be checking your replay.
I also noticed we both messed up turn 4 but cleaning that up would still not be enough to catch Viper.

By the way, you know how if you get 4 negative handicaps in a row, you might get promoted. Can the same be said about a positive handicap and a demotion?

By the way, you know how if you get 4 negative handicaps in a row, you might get promoted.

It was, and probably still is, three results before a new driver's adjusted handicap can be used as grounds for promotion. It doesn't matter how many are negative or positive. I actually got promoted after two positives and one negative (although my second positive was measured against my new D1 handicap).

Can the same be said about a positive handicap and a demotion?

Nope, positives are ignored in adjusted handicap. :)

Thank you for your analyzing Mike!
It just didn't let me do THE lap yesterday night, but very happy with this one!
Big gratulations to you, @mr_lab_rat and @alexamenos ! That's an amazing handicap + Division Podium 👍👍 !

Big Gratulation to all the podiums too!!

I'd have time in about 4 hours to check some replays if there are still some left to be checked...

Good job guys! congratulations to the podiums. I had a love hate relationship with this car. There is still time to be gained through T1 but every time when I was at the T3 marker the time had vanished. Still have a passionate hate for the hairpins! So it's not the best I could do but still i'm happy with the lap and the small negative handicap. Now let's see if I can keep the kart out of the wall
